This song seems mysteriously created for this video and this Hogan swing---Nice piece of work!!! Amazing how the drums bang time and again in perfect timing with Mr. Hogan's awesome strike at impact!! Well, they say that when his woods (real woods back then) impacted the ball, heads turned at the sound of that mighty "crack."
Pretty amazing to watch. Wish I could have seen him live. His ball striking was unparalleled. The only person who could rival his ball striking was the late great Moe Normal.
The B&Ws are before the 1949 injuries when he was the greatest player the world will ever see. Between 1940 & February 1949 his play was completely incomparable despite his prime being interrupted by WW2 military service (1943-45). He won 13 times in '46 & 10 times in '48. In 1942 he scored 2 incredible 271s for that technological time frame to win both the N&S Open (at Pinehurst) & his 1st (&5th) US Open title which was the Hale America National Open which had local & regional qualifying. In 1940, '41, '42 & '46 he led the tour in earnings, stroke average & Ryder Cup pts. That's 4 straight years in which he was able to compete the entire year. He led in tour wins in "42, '46, '47 & '48. In 1948 he won 3 of the 4 American majors which included the Western Open (Americans rarely played in the British Open before the 1960s). Between 1940 & 1947 he finished in the top 5 in 12 straight current major attempts. The next longest streak ever by anyone else is 7. No other player in tour history had six straight full years which were that dominant and he did it vs Snead, Nelson, Sarazen, Locke, Mangrum, Demaret & Middelcoff all in their primes (before age 41). Keep in mind that Hogan never played in all 4 current majors in any year.
great video, I've watched it at least 300 times now but i can't help but notice there were different versions of hogan, body wise and swing wise just like tiger, however tiger still hasn't compensated to a more efficient swing since he is older now. Until Tiger finds a way to hit the darned fairway, he won't be a threat at the majors.
Hogan during his rounds had to stop aiming at the flag stick; he would actually hit the stick at least three times a round on his approaches but the ball would hit it hard and leave longer putts. So, he started aiming just off the stick.
Quite true - this is why he only had 2 hole in ones on tour - he planned the shot so his ball would finish below the hole so he would have an uphill putt - he always played the percentages. In the annals of golf he has no peer.
They also played on greens that were about 8 on the stimp meter, today his ball would land and shoot over the green as Hogan wasn't very long,or a high hitter if he did hit it long.
This is why Tiger Woods said that only two men truly owned their swings - Ben Hogan and Moe Norman. That's because their swings were so grooved that every swing looked exactly the same. The same could be said for Lee Trevino and Jack Nicklaus.
has to be the greatest ever ball striker,is he the best ever golfer,my opinion,i carnt pick, bobby jones, ben, sam snead, seve has to be close, between bobby and ben for me.
That advise always cracks me up....If I had the ability to practice 10 hours a day and devote my life to golf, I'm sure I could find it "in the dirt." But given that my wife would divorce me, I'd lose my job, and my kid wouldn't know who I am, I think I'll stick to a teacher and copy the advice of my pro. :)
Superb Golf Swings with Superb Music. I love it.
Song is called "London" from the Blood Diamond movie soundtrack, in case anyone was wondering

Where or what film is the Augusta National scenes from, and is it available somewhere?
It’s a practice session he did there. It was on the Augusta website for a while. A snippet of it is on my channel.

I finally figured out how he did it. I'm hitting the ball litteraly 50-100 yards further
Nice and repetitive. Go view Payne Stewart and compare. Almost identical.
