This video is for all those viewers that have asked about all my AMG Classics that hang out in the back of my shop. I chose one of our favorites and decided to see if you guys either love it or hate it and if I should sell it or not? Comment below either way and as always thanks for watching!

I love and can appreciate the OEM/OEM+ touches on your cars, I'm the same way! Also that rear 275/40R17 is the same tire size I'm running on my 300zx, I agree it looks so good!

I finally got it, my favorite car ever, I personally have 3 and I don't want to sell even one.
When I was 20 years old, I was in Toronto for 3 years, and my boss Hofman showed me Mercedes brand, in that time he had r129 V12....... today I am 40 and I already got a couple of pieces.
Waht a solid car to drive around......

Surprisingly, the fatty tires look good w/ the 3 piece wheels. I have had three R129s. Kissed a few frogs but finally bought the keeper - a silver 2001 SL500 Sport w/ 34K miles. I'll be buried in that one.

Probably too late but the way to "fix" the LCD of the heater controls is to gently push the black bezel surrounding the LCD panel - it should completely come back to life.
ha, that works for a second, I always hated that feature of the r129, that is why for the r230 they went with the analog wheels, good move. no screen!
I bet if you did some engine and exhaust upgrades it would have been faster..hands down the best OVER-ENGINEERED CLASSIC of all time the R129!!
I love your builds Ray but I also enjoy learning about car you wouldn't typically hear about from other channels! Hopefully we see a mix of the veyron and ur benz's on the channel!

Ray - absolutely gorgeous R129. You’ve really put a lot of great effort into this vehicle. I own a ‘91 black 500SL myself & would never sell it - atleast while I’m still alive. It’s just so much fun plus I’ve given mine a name - I call it the ‘Money Pit’ - as you said - the parts for these machines are no longer available in most MB (or AMG) markets. So when I do find the needed parts I’ve got to go deep into the pockets - hence the Money Pit name. But to me - it’s worth it! Hey blessings to you and may your journey continue with all your other projects Ray. I really enjoy your content(s)…🙏
biggest problem with the r129 is the parts, just absurd prices, you have to go Asian for after market stuff, I did, plus Asians are actually the only people making parts for them anymore, screw the r129, love them, but they are way to annoying.

Absolutely Beautiful Cars. Extremely impressive when they were brand new to the market! The V12, S600 is a true beast and an absolute Rocket Ship! You will have no problem selling it and you should still pretty much be able to name your price and get top dollar for your Car!

'96 was actually the first year for the sport body kit(18 inch staggered wheels/tires) and the xenon headlights, I know way to much about the r129, it was ended in 2002, and in 2001 all the cars had the amg body kits standard, I guess their kiss goodbye to the r129, and in '01/'02 they made very few sl's, the silver arrow sucked imo.
AND....yeah that pano roof is awesome until you bake to DEATH in summer, I wrapped the glass on my 2011, it just is pure misery in summer with a pano roof without a real shade to block uv rays.

Still waiting for someone to put some equal length headers and custom exhaust on a 90s SL600 to make some F1-style music. Couple people have them on S-classes like effspot but not the SL

Please Keep it. I Have three R129's. A 2002 SL500 Silver Arrow, 1998 SL500 sport pkg and a 94 SL500. (Plus a donor for parts)
nice '98! most agree, '98 is the best year, aw, first one I ever eye balled was a low mile 1998 SL600, not a good first car, so I went for an X3!
im a huger Mercedes guy i have a slk 300 bought it with 19k miles and I daily drive it its super clean white with red interior. its got about 36k miles on it now I've been looking to find a really clean example of an sl and this would be perfect.
Does anyone remember the original new car smell from the 80s and 90s in Benzs? What allowed them have that special scent? Was it the leather or something else in the interior? I heard it was the glue they used but not sure if it’s true.
