With the new group format and a play off round for the best 16 means 3 more gamedays to schedule. The bigger question is how is that all going to fit? Especially nowadays with a more demanding schedule for international football, with the Nations League. Í''m a fan of the league format, but if later on it's gonna be a knock-out system that we are used to then the winner would be the team with the biggest team selection. It would probably again Real Madrid, because they have an absurd amount of quality players or else Manchester City. This format means more games so more money to the smaller European clubs, but also the Champions League victory would only be more for the giants with the most money. The first big group format would be exciting, with the many great fixtures, but I think the knock-out games would probably be weird to experience exciting teams being much more weaker and seeing big teams with different team line-up winning because of strength.
there's definitely a lot of questions, but lets see how it plays out. Either way this is not better for players health and thus its not better for the overall quality of play we will watch, cause overtired players dont make great plays on the field. Injured players even worse :(
