@@TheWickedRuts but he didn’t do it for the money, he had more fun going out and doing dumb stuff, he hated racing, he hated going to “work” everyday. He wanted to have fun on his dirt bike.
He loved racing, still to this day he says he misses it. He was just too busted up to maintain it for a season, he put in the work don't get it twisted. Seperating his spine from his pelvis and his last concussion at Millville is what ended his career and he was still on 125's. He had blown out knees, mono, ebstein bar, anemic all at the same time while his parents were divorcing and all his sponsors kept pressing him to go one way or the other but not both, it was either racing or freestyle. Freestyle was tbe best choice for him, he stayed healthier riding freestyle. Injuries are much more common in racing, I did both. The difference is when something goes wrong in fmx, especially with flip tricks, it goes really wrong but it's far in-between, flips become routine thanks to foam pits, it's all muscle memory and the ramps are the same every time unlike dirt. With racing the speeds and technicality makes the likely hood of hitting the deck so much higher than freestyle, look at supercross, nearly half the field every year gets taken out. He made money, progressed the sport and got to get his fix of racing with a cage doing rally, which he was one of youngest American rally championship winners in history, then speed and style for awhile. It was just the perfect fit for him and where he was at in life. He's still arguably the most famous rider, I know people who know nothing of supercross or freestyle and they know who TP is but have no idea who James Stewart or RC is.
@@TheWickedRuts He didn't just get handed a bag. There is no signed contract at the beginning and they dont even have teams. He had to go out there and be the gnarliest dude on a bike to earn that money. Regardless of the money, he would had done FMX for free that's how much he loves the sport.

Travis is the Gnarliest dude in all of Free Style - When I saw him jump out of a Plane without a Parachute, I was like, WOW! - All of these other guys and just Pony's and Travis is the Stallion
Travis was just being him himself and not trying to play up some fake character image, the same cannot be said for Mulisha. They hated on him because they had to do tricks TP invented just to be competitive, and the mulisha’s own self-image their egos built up were constantly getting shattered by a straight laced guy who would simply whoop your ass on a dirt bike. The fact that a young man was beefing with a 15 year old kid because the kid smoked him just speaks to fragile ego; hate the guy you’re jealous of. If it were t for Travis, the freestyle hype that got these guys paid and where they are today would never had happened- glad to see it finally get acknowledged
Whether you were team deegan, pastrana- or both. Epic times and true rivalry in FMX. These dudes not only pioneered but were the peak of fmx as we know it!
Travis was so much better than Brian Deegan in supercross, motocross, and freestyle. He was better and did shit on an 80. And a clean cut kid kicking all of you tattooed and bad ass wannabes
to me the real badass back in the the day, was the 1 guy who was ATTACKING the freestyle courses, ripping around the entire time on the pipe, rear wheel spinning , dirt flying everywhere,it was like he was just out for a free ride! while everyone else was putt putting around carefully lining the bike up for the next trick. not that what deegan and everyone else was doing wasn't epic, cause it was! just pastrana was on a different level , he made it look easy, at least for him

Travis is the Gnarliest dude in all of Free Style - When I saw him jump out of a Plane without a Parachute, I was like, WOW! - All of these other guys and just Pony's and Travis is the Stallion
Travis is a rich boy with everything handed to him. Hasn't worked hard for anything.
Deegan laughing and proud of bringing pastrana to the dark side. Much respect to deegan for being honest about travis's accomplishment.
If it were t for Travis, the freestyle hype that got these guys paid and where they are today would never had happened- glad to see it finally get acknowledged
jesus man lol SOMEONES a little butt hurt
Brian is a junkie, would you expect anything better than child intimidation from that sort of person?
Thanks. I love these interviews. Keep’m coming
I don’t support child abusers, so I couldn’t get around junkie Brian.
Biggest waste of MX talent ever. Never won a premier class title.
Sad.
Been waiting for this video! Thanks guys 🙏
to me the real badass back in the the day, was the 1 guy who was ATTACKING the freestyle courses, ripping around the entire time on the pipe, rear wheel spinning , dirt flying everywhere,it was like he was just out for a free ride! while everyone else was putt putting around carefully lining the bike up for the next trick. not that what deegan and everyone else was doing wasn't epic, cause it was! just pastrana was on a different level , he made it look easy, at least for him
that was an excellent interview clip.
Pastrana > Everyone else ♥
I love these podcasts. This is some great stuff man. Keep it up. 👊
Thanks! Will do!
I love watching the growth! Seeing Deegan grow from the young badass who was a hardass and now he's such a likeable good dad! Showing up for his kids is no easy task and he made their outlet their future! Fucking admire the guy! PROPS DEEGAN!!! Get some new footage with FAISST! You guys crack me up!!
Haha the old Faisst Deegan MM videos are awesome
I don't trust anyone with teeth that white!
Lol!!!
“Hard ass”
I’ve never met a “hard ass” who picks 13 year old boys to target.
Brian is a junkie coward.
@@barryshaw7304If you’re not from the US, don’t come here lol I will never understand the levels of whitening people shoot for😆Though Deegan probably has implants but still
Travis jumped his dirt-bike into the bay he lost all his money he won,I don't think if any of the metal mulish guys would have done that if they won the gold.
You two made freestyle. Mass respect to both of y’all
😀 Gypsy Gang! Congrats on 50,000 plus. The next 50,,000 are coming a lot quicker!
Lessssgo
@@GYPSYTALES you’re taking it to another level! 💪🏼⚡️💨
I just realized I've been watching for about 3 months now, and haven't subscribed until now...publicly shame people like me! 💯 haha
@@jonathondavis170 🤣 I bet you’re not alone. 😆 Hit that subscribe button people! 👍🏻🙂
Mad respect for both !!
What you guys did won't ever happen again !!! But what Haiden will do is gonna be very special and that's a reflection of his dad Brian. Love you guys
Comment aging so well
Travis is the poster child for "Don't mistake humbleness for weakness". 9:35 Yeah, Travis was so far ahead of his time and you guys that as soon as you understood what he was doing you went from "hating" him to try to copy his exact moves... He wasn't taking food off your plate, you didn't even know there was food nor a plate to eat out of dude... He literally made you.
Don't matter what u think about Pastrana, he was, and is, the gnarliest dude.. Has total disregard for his own well being and always pushed the limits..
Deeg and Pastrana were my childhood man. Thanks for great content!
Travis Pastrana Is an innovator badass on any machine that can kick ass but ultimately a badass on the motorcycle this dude is a legend love how he did his own thing and started a new wave of freestyle crazy this kid has balls the size of Texas !!
Loves this behind the scene. This takes me back to Crusty 10 - A decade of dirt.
Man love how humble you are Brian I've been watching you and a fan of you since the Early mulisha days
Humble? I’m not sure using a squad of detailed drug addicts to harass and intimidate 14 year old kids is something I’d define as “humble”.
The guy is a piece of sh!t.
As a kid watching these two, I never saw the background rivalry. I just had extreme admiration for fmx at the time and the theatrics involved with it. It was like watching super hero's and villians perform.
Without the existence of Deegan and Travis, and their natural talent to be 2 leaders pushing progression early on in the sport, FMX may not exist.
Agree with that comment my man
It's so badass to see your quick commentary on Haiden in the opening of The Deegans videos. You're so right about him. I don't care what he's "givren", he's the one riding and putting in the work.
“The metal militia rubbed off on Travis”; meanwhile Deegan a gloating parent and good hearted family man. Lol I think everyone gets a rub from their surroundings.
happens to all of us whether we want to admit it or not.
Yeah that good hearted man screaming at a 14 year old for calling out his illegal engine… so good hearted.
What a great guy. All the best people I know attack kids.
I remember at Budds Creek for the AMA motorcross races way back when in the 90s, this was when Deegan was still racing along with lots of others….on the warm up lap he stopped near the gravity cavity and took a piss right in from of the crowd.
I'd say deegan is his own biggest fan . After all the back patting he gives himself.
He still manages to abuse and intimidate children, with all the self affirmation on his plate… what a guy.
I got to meet Pastrana at Thunder on Cocoa Beach last weekend. He has been a hero of mine all my life.
Got to meet Deegan 15 years ago. Very polite very humbled. Seems like a really good hearted dude. Has a very talented family
I loved both the metal militia and Pastrana. At first Pastrana annoyed me, but after watching his skills progress, it quickly slapped me i was watching the GOAT.
He's the general,he had too feed the troops
The Mustang sells Camaros. And vice versa. Competition is the greatest thing any product or service can have.
Be careful, your comment could set off a muscle car war☺️
You can't help but love Both Theses guys.
Did the clickbait title again😂 worked like a charm
glad you had the deegans on! keep up the dope podcasts! looking forward to the outdoors!
Appreciate it!!
Bro your the rogan of motocross lol
If Rogan put the DMT down and huffed 2 stroke 😅
Lets be real... The action sports community is as big as it is because of these moments in time... The 199 is a legend Deegs is a legend and their rivalry and infleunces on each other are what made the community what it is today..
Bro I still rock MM sweatshirts and shirts. Shit I bought back in like '05 '06 haha
Bro the sport would not be where it is today without both of these insane guys. Deegan grew the business and Travis grew the progression. Both are Legends in the sport.
Lol deegan didn't do a damn thing.
So Deagen is the sell out 100%
Another banger jase🙌🏼👏🏻
Gypsy you are fucking hilarious 😂 this vid was great. Cherry on top was brian deegan
😂
Great interview! I was trying to make it back then. These guy’s are on another level.
I'm so glad I grew up in the era I did. Kids today couldn't handle the Metal Militia. They would definitely try to cancel them
agree, right time right place basically and the brand + rivalry is what made the sport. without it i don't think it would of ever taken off the way it did for as long as it has if it was just the Metal Militia.
Why would anyone want to cancel the Metallica song 'Metal Militia' ?
I can understand why people wouldn't like the brand "Metal Mulisha" though ...
I’d like to cancel junkie Brian’s ability to chew for 12-18 weeks.
Dude , I know you hate click bait videos , but I love your short clips soo good ... now I'm listing to your full pod casts ... been racing since I was a kid .. your is the only motocross show I watch/listen to , keep up the great work 💪 BRAPPP
Yewww keep up the good work!
Yewww YTB
This is so sick glad this old video popped up💯
So Pastrana didn't prove himself to Deegan by jumping his bike into San Francisco Bay?!! I kinda thought that was a little badass.
But Travis was only 15 at the time and still the goody two shoes to deegan at that point. That was right at the birth of freestyle on the national stage and they both wanted their piece of the pie
For real. This dudes just crying. His son is a little punk thats too good for his class, looking back at riders he's obviously passing. Put young Deegan in a real class and he'll be the one crying 😢 😭
@@repoman28d you can't be on the metal militia with your mom and dad making alot of your career decisions 😂
@@RnRactivities Daddy issues?
When I did work for the AMA nationals. Travis was the nicest, most respectful top name racer out there.
“I want to clock the bait the shit out of this”
-here again
barley english
Thanks for this video! So fn epic!
