I’m relatively new to Notion and wanted to make my own database rather than taking a template. This video really helped me navigate the settings in ways that didn’t confuse me like other tutorials had! Thank you!
@@dltnio Other tutorials assume that we already understand the workarounds of Notion and without explaining the basic concepts they just throw at you a ton of things without really explaining the basic concepts and how does one thing "work" with the other (like when creating tables/formulas etc.), or where does it originate and follow up. Fx. In most tutorials i've seen nobody explain how to create something as basic as an "Authors" page so we can "link" it to our table, but you did it and you showed every step of the way. In a few words: I'm not surprised that me and a lot of people are really enjoying your videos because you start always teaching with a "blank page", not like others which their tutorial is already filled with things we can not understand. You start from 0 and show every move in a really digestible manner.
I've got a "Library" database which regroups: books, movies, series, podcasts, notebooks (collection of linked notes from my note database around a same topic), but with your version, I still found a lot of cool ideas to add to mine (like the separate Author database). So, thank you a lot!
That was the best tutorial out there no one explained this way before its been a month since I found out about notion and since then I've only seen some random videos from here and there but not that detailed you really went through all the steps THANK YOU SO MUCH you are the best
Newbie to notion and want to use it for so many tasks and functions. This was a very detailed and instructional video. And extremely easy to follow along without getting confused like some other tutorials I've watched. I really like how you do the tutorial without rambling on and getting off-topic. I read a lot and struggle sometimes when trying to figure out what books I read and all the authors when I'm at the bookstore. Now I can take my reading list with me. :) I love the option of the book notes template. Thank you! I look forward to watching some of your other tutorials.
need huge shout out for this video! I was totally intimated by the features of the notion! But this video gave me the clear idea of making interactive relation database, i really appreciate your work! thanks again
I loved loved loooovvvveeedddd the way you organised and explained every minute details. This was really helpful video. I searched many videos from so called big creators but couldn't help me out as you did. Thank you so much buddy❣️🔥💯👍
So, I’ve watched tons of videos on relationships and master tag databases and yours was the first one that actually made it click. Very straightforward and easy to understand. Thanks!
I wanted to start working with Notion, but had no clue how to do it properly. Your video was absolutely amazing and showed all the basics as well as further information on how to work with Notion! Great content, keep it up :)
Great video. Not glamorous, but extremely practical. Enjoy how you built it from scratch so I can follow your thought process and make decisions about what to adopt or adjust according to my needs.
How are you combining your use of Notion and Obsidian/Roam? Are you reserving certain tasks for each program or do you have a system to somehow combine the two? Also, that desk is 🔥 what kind is it?
Hey Notioners! 👋 I started drawing Notion icons a few days ago and thought I'd share it with the community 🤗 If anyone is interested in getting their own custom notion profile picture, check out the link in the comment below 👇
If you add a formula to calculate a number value for the star rating, then on the author table you can add a formula to average those numbers to generate a star rating for the author.
Great, this was a big help in designing a table for admin for my own books (author). The one thing I could't figure out yet: How to move a whole column that was added far to the right because I didn't think of that attribute beforehand. I can click and hold to move the HEADER of the column, but the rest stays where it was. Not very useful. Plus I can't find out how to do conditional highlighting. Reading reddit posts I suspect that it's not offered by Notion yet. I would like the table to automatically highlight the row or cell of a book if the book wasn't updated in more tha a year.
This video has a huge impact! Thank you for that. It really helped me out and got me new inspirations. Amazing how the internet can change your life. Very good video. Keep up the nice work :)

I am trying to create my Rating options, however I am having a bit of trouble. I was able to add one star exactly like you did, but 1. it wouldn't let me copy it and 2. when I tried to create a new selection with multiple stars nothing happened and none of the stars showed up. Any thoughts ??
This is the ONLY video that I saw that actually explains how to create your own book database on Notion. Thanks a lot

Best introduction to Notion on youtube hands down. Thank you for the value Dalton, looking forward to your future content🦾

I mean, you could yeah, but is it worth it?
@@dltnio Maybe, if you want to keep track of whether or not you want to purchase or follow more from a particular source.
Fantastic idea - a beginner, I was vaguely wondering along the same lines myself - thank you 🙏

Just turn on dark mode in settings!
Great work through of Notion, some new features I did not know about!

Not sure! You might have to copy and paste from Google or something.

How do you add color on the authors name?
Make the column a select or multi-select field.
Dude I use Windows, how do I add stars there?
Hmm copy them from google?
Use the Windows Emoji with the shortcut:
(Win+.)---> [Windows key + dot key]
Wow
