Grab a cup of coffee, sit back and relax and watch how easy it is to catch wild trout on the micro nymph..
Thank you for the video, George. I tied a few of your micro nymphs and gave them a go yesterday on the Avon and I have to admit they worked like a charm. I used mine as a point fly of a Klinkhamer (not NewZealand style) in pretty deep water and just from a single pool I managed to pull out 5 grayling and a perch. I used the style pretty much all-day and I must say that Micro Nymph of yours is deadly and caught a lot of fish.
@@dpl230 Delighted you had success with the Micro Nymph,it's another string for your bow, tight lines my friend.
Great videos you have posted up, thanks.
You're more than welcome,thanks a million.
Hi Gundog & fly, your videos are great and a real inspiration.
Thank you kindly.
What a fantastic simple tie and best of all you prove how effective it can be. You know your craft George well done!
Thanks a million.
Lovely video George alot of fish in small run, very productive, lovely flies that catch alot of fish.
Glad you enjoyed it
A really enjoyable video George...been re-watching a lot of your content as I respect your knowledge, tips etc that you share with us...thanks to you, I've been tying much smaller micro nymph patterns for fishing on some of the smaller UK rivers/streams for wild trout and grayling with great results (upstream, euro-nymphing and dry/dropper) particularly when water levels are lower ( as they have been quite a lot already this year)...a very pleasurable way to fish...but it never ceases to surprise me the quality of fish that go for the small hook sizes (18-22's), and the confident takes...guess it's more typical of the size of food they eat most of sub-surface...thanks a lot, all the best
Glad you find the vids helpful, tight lines TK.
Superb video George! I was lately obsessed by micro fishing and i will absolutely try this.
I think it would be very fun on a small tenkara rod to catch everything that bites.
Grettings from France !
Merci mon ami, glad you enjoyed it..
That's a great video George. Lovely photography, videography and indeed cinematography.
Thanks Vinny..
Great video. Some man to catch fish
Thanks Ryan..
Lovely video there George. Perfect for today's conditions
Thanks for the positivity.
great teacher
Thank you.
Great video and such an easy flit to tie too. On a #2 weight as well .
Thanks Paul, glad you found it useful.
Fantastic fishing George and a lovely little nymph; i'll definitely be giving it a try ... Cheers! - Shaun
Thanks Shaun,good luck with it.
Great video George...definitely going to tie up some of your twin wire micro nymphs for my local river...if I may, what fly line were you using (e.g. a 2wt DT or WF, or a Euro Nymphing line?)...many thanks
The line is a double taper 3,however I use a long leader and the line is for the most part redundant with this technique, thanks for dropping in and tight lines in the future.
Hello George. Love the microfly and technique. Please advise what reel you are using. Thank you. Dave.
It's a Sage 3200 series Dave, however any light decent quality reel will serve the same purpose.
Very nice :) size 20 is great to tie ;)
I think so too!
Hi George great video again do you need a special fly rod for fishing a nymph
Not necessarily, there are rods made specifically for nymph fishing, however any rod will potentially do the job,I fished for many years with nymphs ever before "nymphing rods" were thought of.
Hi George, lovely video. What make and model rod are you using. This euro nymphing seem to be the way most anglers are going. I watched a recent competition at the weekend in Thomastown river nore and it was all euro nymphing with a dry dropper setup.
It's a Syndicate 10' 2weight,euronymph is now the most popular method of nymph fishing, however the old style upstream nymph is far more enjoyable in my opinion, check out the channel for vids on this technique.
@@springerspanielful thanks George, I see Peter driver selling them, is it the pipeline or reaver model. It's somthing I'd like to get into, I've watched your videos of upstream which are excellent but nice to have a different approach some days
@@fiestamans It's the pipeline Seany.
@@springerspanielful Looks lovely, the reaver looks unreal but at €800 it's out of my league, I'd be interested in the pipeline. Must give Peter a shout
@@springerspanielful Hi George, so I've been doing some research and I can't decide on 10ft 2wt or 3wt. I was hoping to be able to nymph and dry fly and maybe swing spiders with the same rod, am I expecting too much? I'l be fishing the Nore so not too different from the suir size wise, will you only nymph with yours or will it dry fly and swing spiders too?
Awesome. Fly
Thank you! Cheers!
What diameter wire do you use ?
Small for small nymphs and so on.
What are the laws for access to these rivers in Ireland?
Most rivers in Ireland are controlled by local clubs who facilitate visiting anglers, there's no licence required to fish for brown trout,a licence is required in the case of migratory fish ie sea trout and salmon.
Save your scissors and helicopter the wire off.
Works with some wires, not all though.
