I totally agree… be prepared so you can relax when people arrive, and buffet/serve yourself-I always do that, it’s relaxing and people can choose what they like , have a little of everything and come back for more if they like… it’s so relaxing. And separating the couples! Great idea. I live in Australia. We have friends from China. They entertain outside Australian style (relaxed, BBQ, platters etc) but inside they do things Chinese style- the indoor dining tables are lavishly set, the ladies at one table and men at another …

I declare, I thought I was the one who 1st came up with the saying: "Perfectly Imperfect"! I have used the expression for many many years! It so perfectly expresses perfection: taking the edge off of formality, but leaving plenty of room for remaining a comfortable, dignified human being! It doesn't matter how grand an occasion---if you aren't comfortable and having a good time---someone missed the whole point! And I agree: there is something so very special, primal, about having guests gathered in your home! A house is just a house. "But a house is not a HOME"---UNTILL there is SOMEONE other than yourself---PRESENT there! People come, and they go, but their memory and their love, a part of their psychic energy---remains there! It is not just the food that nourishes our souls! And Bunny Williams has such a warm nurturing presence about her that I really love, besides her wonderful talents for decorating and gardening!
