This is possibly the greatest match Canada has ever played. They didn't just beat Brazil they dominated them. Once Canada has a big lead in thesecond and smaller lead in the third set they just wouldn't let Brazil mount any kind of come back. Canada was a side out machine. Loeppky, Maar and Szwarc were raining down bombs all match and the Brazillians had no answers for them. Lui was also terrific playing phenomenal defense and service reception. Canada served notice that they're a force to be reckoned with. Let's go Canada!!

Canada is well rounded. Good in defence, offence and blocking. 3 of them were with Monza and was in the finals! Coaching also made a difference this year. Both men's and women's are doing so well this year. Even the women's team are in the top 10 in world ranking.

i think canada has improved a lot in terms of mentality. their main three hitters club’s season successful and a bunch of their recent winning performances have increased their confidence a lot. i believe with a great maintenance, team canada would be such a great threat on the olympics and i am honestly so looking forward to seeing that.

Brazil floor and net defense is missing. They got the wrong combination of players this time. Canada’s players are truly remarkable. Maar, Lopeky has been Cachopa’s main attacker in their club team in Italy (Monza).
Bernardinho is looking for alternative rotations for the Olympics. It's clear that the full Brazilian team didn't play last week and this week. In my opinion, the Brazil team in week 2 is unstoppable
It feels like Darlan is a complete menace for shorter teams but as soon as there are good tall blockers he becomes super ineffective unlike other premier attackers
Besides from the fact the Canada has a younger more effective players than Brazil, the russian coach really helped the squad to evolve and brought the players full potential. On the other hand, Bernardinho have an old school coaching approach and it didn't help his aged and inconsistent squad.
Agree, Brazil has an old school style of coaching, it doesn't work anymore, Brazilian attacks are very predictable that's why Canadians easily defend those attacks, floor defense were impeccable....

Been Brazil's (both men and women's teams) biggest fan for years and it's upsetting to see the mens side having a bit of a decline in recent time. I guess dips do happen at the intersection of two generations, with guys like Lucas (38), Bruno (37), Leal (35), Mauricio (35), and Wallace (36 - has he retired?) all approaching the twilight of their career. I'm seeing a lot less out-of-position quick middle (what made the Bruno/Lucas combo so special) and (back court players always being ready for) the super quick pipe plays from this team so it's much easier for other teams to block their outsides and opposite.
Wallace has been suspended from playing in Brazil, for posting on his social media a question on whether any of his followers would shoot the president in the face. He can still pay abroad and he is such as spectacular player I have no doubts he will find a position. Bolsonaristas need to leave Brasil if they can, as soon as possible. The country is going downhill and they will be much happier abroad.
All the players except Darlon are old players... there are no new generation players.. they need young spikers and setters.. the same problem exists in the USA volleyball team ALSO..

I would like to think that, based on that, Bernardinho is taking the opportunity to experiment with the team. I am puzzled by his choices, but he is the most successful coach of all times so I trust he knows what he is doing. Let't see what the next phase brings us.
Who was Canada before this fantastic Finnish coach Tuomas Sammelvuo, who led RUSSIA in the VNL and OLYMPIADE? He brought young, tall, physically strong players, extremely committed to the tactical scheme, very well formed blocking, solid defense and MARR. If he continues as Canada's coach, we will soon have another force in world volleyball competing and winning championships, USA gave I'm foolish not to have hired this incredible technician.Brazil, continues with the same problems as the RENAN era, I don't see any Ricardinho or Giba appearing to bring the old freshness of playing well from that team. It's a good team, but very far from the old days.
