Nice to see this especially as I travelled this line down to Broadstairs from Victoria in days of steam, but also when the electrification was completed down to Ramsgate in '59 I then travelled on the new electrified lines in that year. My recollected of travelling on the new electrified service was how much faster it was compared to steam.
The view of Beckenham Junction & the ongoing works at Shortlands, reminded me of my commuting from Shortlands to Victoria in the 1980s. This was prior a later track realignment, including building an underpass, in aid of making a the temporary route for the Eurostar trains to/from Paris or Brussels to London International at Waterloo. The move of Eurostar terminal to St Pancras from Waterloo Station silenced the distinctive deafening ‘hairdryer’ noise that filled the local Valley at Shortlands, as those international trains passed this commuter station in the 1990s. Times change, again & again.
Common on older train stock for drivers to choose either to stand, or sit using a fold down seat. On most if not all new stock you don't have much choice but to sit down. A lot of drivers (myself included) don't like that lack of choice.
Many people say that the age of steam was dirty and grimy ! I think It was the best system ever, in every way, Yes I may just be far too nostalgic about the age of steam. But it served us so well, for well over a century. Much like the tram system, It was scrapped, But now the tram system is more popular than ever, So maybe one day, We may well revert to the tried and trusted Steam locos.

A couple of comments. Firstly the driver appears to be standing?? Secondly, the narrator is very good - soft voice and perfect diction.
