Both are classics and would love to check them out in 4k. Would love to see The Last Samurai in 4K UHD as well, the sound of the machine gun at the end would be awesome to hear in Atmos.
These are two of my all time favorite movies. Can't believe they are together and had 3d audio to go along with them. I definitely plan to buy these. Thanks for the review
Ealan, you are my spirit animal! I distinctly remember connecting my 17" CRT TV to my high-fi boombox through a VCR-DVD player in my bedroom in either middle or high school to watch Gladiator in my own simulated surround sound. Classic! But in this house, Pauly Shore is a national treasure. My kids love it when I sing his rendition of "shoo fly" from Encino Man.
Haha, yaayyy! And yeah, digs at Pauly Shore are my way of showing affection. 😄 I did enjoy Encino Man when it came out. “Weaze the juice” was in my vocabulary for quite some time after seeing it. 🤣
Rewatching The Matrix did make me really appreciate that creativity in me. The ending was a little terrible but you could see how they did it and how amazing they did
Hey Ealan!!! I've had this exact 4K disc since this past summer and haven't even opened it yet. I'm so lazy lol.....I need to watch it soon and thanks for the review on it. I have to say those are my 2 favorites for Period Pieces. To me they are both Equal in it's story and epicness. But if I had to pick which would be 1st (this is difficult) I'd have to say that BRAVEHEART would be #1 then GLADIATOR #2. Mainly cause it was the first movie back in the 90's that impacted me the most in many ways.
Its like seeing a strange copy of oneself. For I to was born in the early 80s and molded by the 90s growing up loveing cinema and sinking in all the rated R films that I could. Only this copy lives on the east coast and doesn't have a cool well produced growing RUclips channel. But man your right. I bought this 4k combo pack last Christmas solely for the fact that it was two of the coolest movies I liked growing up and cuz I wanted to hear it in updated audio formats. Personally I don't think Braveheart aged very well other than the visuals are still beautiful in HDR and Gladiator looks phenomenal, also the Audio I prefer more than Braveheart. As always totally awesome video and thank you for it. 1. Yes I totally owned two pairs of rollerblades. One street blades and the other were hockey blades. 2. If I had hair...I'm down for trying everything at least once. 3. " what we do in life will echo in eternity" Marcus Morales ( that hit a little too close to home for Mel Gibson.. cough cough😬)
Yeah, same. I think Gladiator aged better than Braveheart. I’ll still watch Braveheart maybe once a year from now on, and I’m sure I’ll introduce my 2 girls to the wonders of 3 hr 90’s epic stories once they’re old enough 😊
ahahahaha. this one cracked me up and i'd totally forgotten about our parental units ultra-love for sandra bullock (probably because i was only exposed while i visited while you lived it).
They should’ve done the Gladiator/Troy double 4K combo
I agree but I have to say Gladiator is the best of those 2 in my opinion

Why do you say the ending of the Matrix was terrible?

The title of the video alone just inspired me to watch those on my setup.
Amazing movies
2 solid movies. Just ordered the 4K combo pack on a Boxing Day deal.......$22 (CDN). Well worth it. If I want extras I'll pop in my Bluray copies.
"...you really start to pick up the flaws, like...casting Pauly Shore."
This UHD bundle has been available on VUDU since 2017.
Are these theatrically releases or extended?
Gladiator has both theatrical and extended. Braveheart is just theatrical.

These movies were old how can we see them in 4k?
They process the original film through a machine that makes a 4K image. That's why you are able to see some film grain.
They filmed it in 35mm film, which is estimated to have between 4k and 6k worth of information.
