Basically a flying predatory giraffe stork thing which would target human sized prey.
You put that together well my friend
More or less human sized. We’re in its range. Also it hunted on the ground. Imagine having the most overpowered ability but not even bothering to use it to hunt.
Humans were giants then. History has lied significantly to us on purpose mostly.
This guy...
@@DreadEnderimagine the flying perk your species unlocked is bugged and barely works, but your lineage gets the patch.
Not going to lie that is way scarier than any t rex
A t-rex is much harder to hide from.
T.rex would have probably left us alone because we wouldn't be worth hunting. Quetzalcoatlus hunted things our size, so absolutely scarier than a T.rex.
@@AgroAcro Took the words right out of my mouth
@@AgroAcro there are some theories, though, that said that q. northropi were scavengers.
@@firstletterofthealphabet7308 I feel like there are always scavenger theories. There were theories about T.rex being a scavenger when it definitely wasn't. I could be wrong but I'm always cautious when seeing things like that, especially when we already know that Hatzegopteryx was an Apex predator.
Imagine something the size of a giraffe just take flight before your very eyes.
Still blows my mind that this thing could fly 🤯
I’m not surprised, just look at the bumblebee. Now that thing shouldn’t be able to fly.
@@cedricnicholson7446they did prove that a bumblebee bee was able to fly. I’m not a physicist but I remember the reason they originally said that is because they used the wrong method for calculating flight, the bumblebee bee used a different form of flying that what the study used as reference to calculate.
It was very large but also very light. It's bones were hollow if I remember correctly.
Not every animal with wings flies or flies well.
@@binxbolling correct me if im wrong but apparently these giant prehistoric storks could travel continent to continent without resting at all
Can you imagine seeing the shadow and hearing the sound of these flying over you? O would absolutely love to time travel to see the dinosaurs.....but only if i couldn't get eaten.
Look up worst place for a time traveller. Almost every site says the same thing.
The Kem Kem.
To see the dinosaurs? What about the big Quetzal flying over you. It's not a dinosaur but it deserves your attention😉
Sorry. I can't help myself from geeking out and grandstanding.😅 Quetzalcoatlus is a pterosaur not a dinosaur But I think you already know that😅
I was thinking the Exact same thing 😅
@@roddo1955I see you are a person of culture
Hey, I think this somewhat could be achieved. It could be a VR title which would run on the quest platform. VR is getting better and better each day, I hope one day they have a title where you can time travel to see the dinosaur.
Speaks of wingspan: 2-3 meters
Speaks of height: 20 feet

Yep, 95.2% of the world's population uses metric.
The small bird has 2-3 meter wings, the big bird has 40ft wings which is 12meters.

They're really big, trust me. Atleast for a flighted bird.
Yeah they don’t look that big when you see them flying, but when you stand next to one or hold one those things are absolutely massive
Quetzalcoatlus isn’t even the biggest, hatzegopteryx was bigger

He specifically mentioned height in the short, as well as wingspan length, and "biggest" in context like this almost always means height, not weight.
I’ve often wondered why so many ancient cultures have images of dragons.
Humans never met this creature
@@LizardManeNo, we haven’t. But maybe we will.
For real. Who knows if some of these made it longer like into the Dark Ages.
Dinosaur and Pterosaur fossils.
No Pterosaurs and non-avian Dinosaurs survived past the Cretaceous.
They found fossils of them, didn't know extinction was a thing, and thought there are dragons out there. The Chinese drawings of dragons are the oldest Dinosaur reconstructions.
@@evonne315I know that I believe it was in New Zealand there was a massive predatory bird big enough that it targeted human children regularly. The natives hunted them all to extinction. Not proximally destroying their habitat or anything like that; purposely ended them all, not that I blame them. It was a baby snatching hell bird. It needed to go lol.
Imagine that flying towards you with its thunderous wings
Like a nightmare , unimaginable
Now imagine it *running* at you
Zig zag! But if it's running towards you: just give up
I love Queztalcoatlus, but the Hatzegopteryx is now believed to have been taller, heavier, stronger, and to have a bigger wingspan.
not taller but heavier
Depending on how you define what’s bigger, the Hatzegopteryx was probably bigger. It was heavier and bigger and mass, though slightly shorter. But experts in paleontology do lead with which animal has more mass to determine which animal is bigger. Then again, it can all depend on your perception of the two. They are both very similar in size.
Friendly reminder that has been discovered that quetzalcoatlus could run up to abt 40 km/h
Way faster than a t-rex!?
@pawonmbakophie7362 trex is estimated on 16 - 40 km/h so either faster or same speed

The biggest flying animal to ever live was Hatzegopteryx thambema. It was discovered in the 1970's in Romania. It's from the same family as the Quetzalcoatlus.
"That's not a animal okay" 😂 👍
"It has a beak"
Seen how a pelican can swallow a full grown seagull makes these birds scary.
Hatzegopteryx thambema is taller than Quetzalqcoatlus
Fun fact:
The earliest examples of Dragonflies and spiders in the fossil record are older than trees.
The earliest example of sharks in the fossil record existed before the North Star (Polaris) had begun to form.
Began to appear above earth's horizon. That star had already been formed.
Megarachne wasn't a spider, it was a sea scorpion, and you are closer to the Meganeura being a dragonfly, but it was actually a griffinfly.
But yeah, the shark one is correct, they're here even longer than the rings of saturn.
This bird was a living Warthog A-10...
If you hear it's war cry "Brrrrrrrt", then you weren't the target.
Flying giraffes
Toruk Mato, I will fly with you
Loool! I was looking for this.

The Hatzegopteryx is now believed to be even bigger, especially in weight and it also hunted bigger prey compared to the more fragile Quetzalcoatlus.
Laughs in Ancalagon...
So the albatross is in metric but Quetzal is in imperial? Huh?
Yeah, they were from different sides of the Atlantic. 😂😉

It's funny that I got to this short via a video about how Quetzalcoatlus was not the the biggest pterasaur.
This thing is scarier than t rex 😂 straight up demon
THAT BIRD COULD KILL A T-REX WITH ONE PEC IN THE EYE SWOOPING DOWN FROM THE SKY.. THAT IS THE DRAGON THAT EVERY BODY WITNESSED IN HYSTERICAL MID EVIL STORIES.
Not a bird, pterosaur. And while quetzelcoatlus was unquestionably terrifying, it would still have no chance fighting a tyrannosaurus. Quetzcoatlus weighed around 250 pounds, maybe a bit more. Tyrannosaurus weighed upwards of 10 tons. Quetz has no chance
@@sapphhere283 that is very true.... Yet have you seen the video of the hawk that swoops from the sky and pokes the goose in the eye..

California condor is actually bigger and has a larger wingspan than any albatross

Quetzalcoatlus is the one discovered in Texas, although I don't know if it was west Texas. It's possible, as they may have also found bones from the same species in the Hell Creek formation despite that being much further north. Imagine being that big but still tiny compared to to other living creatures at its time
Meters/feet ?
One meter/yard = three feet
i swear that thing did not fly. Sure it could get airborne when the conditions allow for it but a flapping giraffe? no not a chance that thing is just way too front heavy
Except that it was able to fly, your mistake here was imagining pterosaurs as giant birds running in the ground to generate lift, which wasn't true. Birds to this because they are bipedal animals, while Pterosaurs were quadrupedal, and as such, they had a much more efficient and energetic way of lifting flight, which was to jump using their massive forelimbs like a lever, similar to how bats lift flight, but in a larger scale. Also, the head wasn't really heavy, with the skull having huge fenestrae and hollow bones for diminushing it's weight, they would have no more problem flying than a toucan or a pelican have.
This is like a real-life dragon.
Bad news: they may have found a bigger one.
Mind blowing creature. No doubt underrated and the most amazing prehistoric animal ever discovered. RESPECT
In other words, they had Fragile BONES!
Actually, no. The bones had to have sufficient strength to withstand the wing loading of lifting a 250 to 350 kg animal off the ground. Hatzegopteryx was even heavier.
While the wandering albatross has the largest wingspan of all living birds, the largest flying bird on the planet when considering weight and wingspan is the Andean Condor. The andean Condor has a wingspan of 3.3 meters/10-12 feet (slight smaller than that of the wandering albatross, if not equal) weighs 33lbs, and measures 4 ft tall, as opposed to the wandering albatross, which weighs about 16 lbs on average and is about equal in height
Albatross in meters and the Quetzel in feet... Wtf
A fun and games until Hatzegopteryx pulls up to the party
I know it didn’t turn out well for Jurassic World but if I was able to bring any back this is the one I’d want to see first.
You're right in thinking it'd be a hell of a sight to behold but considering they would eat anything that fit in their heads and humans notably fit in their beaks, I'd admire from a distance
And shelter
That's a wonderful model of this incredible flying prehistoric glider. That's literally the size of a fighter Aircraft. That was a magnificent flying reptile? I hope I got that right. I think of it as a giant bird. Beautiful! 👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️
Wow show cool!!!
Technically it could also be the hatzegopteryx
Honestly.. everyone would love to see rexes, stegos and trikes. I wanna see this big boy fly. it just boggles my mind.
What’s scarier is that we tested its ability to fly using modern air chemistry, back then the air chemistry was “lighter” therefore it allowed for the azhdarchids to fly more efficiently than they would today, though that doesn’t mean they couldn’t fly today, they very-very much still could
Looks up. Poops pants while saying, “Nice birdy!” 💩👻
The biggest is actually the Hatzegopteryx, for those who are wondering.
This is the first time I am hearing of this bird. Cannot imagine coming in contact such a bird. What a nest it must have built. I think it would have to nest on the ground because of it's size.
quetzalcoatlus may not have been the biggest pterosaur, there was another named the hatzegopteryx that likely had a higher mass due to it being stockier and having a massive head, but its possible it could have been taller and had a longer wingspan too, its hard to know for sure since we dont have that many samples and are constantly finding new evidence, its similar to the debate around the size differences of spinosaurus and tyrannosaurus. quetzalcoatlus could well have been the bigger pterosaur but hatzegopteryx deserves to be mentioned too :)

Quetzalcoatlus is my favourite extinct creature
it looks so weird
Недавно появилась теория о том что взрослые особи не могли взлететь из за габаритов, но подростки и молодые особи могли летать.
That's so sad
Forgot the Hax is the biggest flying pterosaur
Hatz is bulkier. Quetz is taller.
Oh yeah is this the one they have at field museum in Chicago? Terrifying
What about the Hatzegopteryx, it had a more bulky head which made it heavier than Quetzalcoatlus which means the title should go to Hatzegopteryx. you also mispronounced Quetzalcoatlus
Now that's a true "Flying Beast"!
🤔Hmmmm.... i would've thought you bring up the California Condor?
We all need a bird that is actually not extinct
