Yeah, the Halo formula is the way to go: Single Player or Co Op campaign with optional multiplayer. I'm sick of all these live service games. Just soulless cash grabs
I did the math back then they made that tweet with the "statistics" of the open beta, which included PC and PS5, and didn't need a preorder on either. they proudly proclaimed that during that open beta there were 12 million kills. the first game mode you have to play is death match. that has a kill limit of 30. if we consider THE BEST CASE scenario aka. every game resulting in a 30-0 landslide win, we have 400k TDM matches. every match is 10 players. so 400k TDM matches = 4mio players over the entire weekend. but, as you can see, this is an unrealistically high estimate. because not only would this estimate need every game to be a 30-0 match, but also that every single player quit the game after a single match. both are obviously unrealistic to assume. so if every player played 2 landslide TDM matches, we are suddenly only at 2mio players. if they played 3, 4, 5 matches the number goes down accordingly. and the more kills the opposite team made in these matches, the less players we get again. so if we estimate every player playing 2 TDM matches, and every match being 30-29 close calls, we are only at 1mio players. this is also an unrealistic scenario, but a more realistic one than the 4mio scenario. the truth most likely is that it's lower than 1mio players during the open beta. because you have to assume that there are players that played dozens of matches, playing match types you unlock that don't have a kill limit and will result in even more kills per match. so adjust the estimate down from 1mio according to what you think is the most realistic scenario of matches being played by individual players, how many kills per match you think they did etc.
What's even crazier is the amount of money they've spent on marketing. I'm seeing ads all over the place. They're paying content creators to play it or make videos on it. All for 660 ppl on launch 🤣 Another common Sony L.

First off that's exactly the problem that spawn wave was just talking about getting on the bandwagon now and five six years when the game is ready no one cares. Second hopefully the studios have learned our lessons from places like Blizzard, that have to bow down and tiptoe around the Chinese government to get their game approved. ultimately making it worse for the entire world
We can blame the price tag, even if it was free during a beta. The market, that only gave a chance to Marvel Rivals and that game Valve is actively trying to hide. The small budget from Sony. The bad weather. The elections. This game was made by developers for developers. As long as they keep chasing the modern audience the modern audience they'll get.
It’s wild that Sony had enough faith in this game to buy the studio but also decided to shut down Japan Studio. Concord isn’t a bad shooter either. The move would have been to either make it F2P or launch it into the subscription service.
Yeah from what all I have heard as far as gameplay its solid, its not bad or seem to be all that glitchy its just so generic for a $40 game, not to mention its a hero shooter that is way late to the party coming into a market that's kinda set in stone already, the devs would need to really nail the aesthetic to make this game stick out or at least come up with a unique gameplay gimmick.

The subreddit for this game is hilarious. You have the few concord fanboys begging for mods to not allow people posting how dead the game is🤣🤣
This is the way of the left, whining and demanding censorship.
This man did not just compare this games reception to Titanfall 2... The game that had at least a million or more players at launch.
Titanfall 2 competing with Call of Duty and Battlefield is not the same as Concord competing with Wukong and Star Wars. Is this his first day?
Please. Don’t ever. Don’t ever compare Titanfall 2 to Concord… in any way. Don’t.
I honestly think that Concord would be better as a co-op mission based game like borderlands or could even have a interesting single-player campaing, that was my initial reasoning during the first 5 minutes of them showing the game, but they lost me completely when "5vs5" was said
Yes, I think they would’ve had a lot more success by having a traditional Halo or COD campaign at launch, not trying to drip feed cinematics
Yeah, the Halo formula is the way to go: Single Player or Co Op campaign with optional multiplayer. I'm sick of all these live service games. Just soulless cash grabs
Remember Sony Japan Studio died for this
I did the math back then they made that tweet with the "statistics" of the open beta, which included PC and PS5, and didn't need a preorder on either.
they proudly proclaimed that during that open beta there were 12 million kills.
the first game mode you have to play is death match. that has a kill limit of 30. if we consider THE BEST CASE scenario aka. every game resulting in a 30-0 landslide win, we have 400k TDM matches.
every match is 10 players. so 400k TDM matches = 4mio players over the entire weekend.
but, as you can see, this is an unrealistically high estimate. because not only would this estimate need every game to be a 30-0 match, but also that every single player quit the game after a single match.
both are obviously unrealistic to assume. so if every player played 2 landslide TDM matches, we are suddenly only at 2mio players. if they played 3, 4, 5 matches the number goes down accordingly.
and the more kills the opposite team made in these matches, the less players we get again.
so if we estimate every player playing 2 TDM matches, and every match being 30-29 close calls, we are only at 1mio players.
this is also an unrealistic scenario, but a more realistic one than the 4mio scenario. the truth most likely is that it's lower than 1mio players during the open beta. because you have to assume that there are players that played dozens of matches, playing match types you unlock that don't have a kill limit and will result in even more kills per match.
so adjust the estimate down from 1mio according to what you think is the most realistic scenario of matches being played by individual players, how many kills per match you think they did etc.
Reject live service games. Embrace single-player offline games.
This is Jim Ryans Playstation. Worse than Don Mattrick.
What's even crazier is the amount of money they've spent on marketing. I'm seeing ads all over the place. They're paying content creators to play it or make videos on it.
All for 660 ppl on launch 🤣
Another common Sony L.
Even Redfall did 6k (Which for online game even 6k is abysmal) a Game Pass game.... Just think about it... 695. Even Gollum did 750 players on Steam a fuckın Gollum xd
My mate bought gollum on ps5. That shit is soooo hard to get through. Only played 5 levels
Redfall wasn't even a live service. Concord is
They literally shot themselves in the foot by making it 40$
even free it's DOA
not worse than we thought it's exactly how we thought it'd go
And......It's gone!
Meanwhile exclusively single player Black myth Wukong has already passed 10 million for a "dying market"
Wish we got Twisted Metal again… or Jak and Daxter… or InFamous… Or Sly Cooper. But no, we get these always online slop.
The classic scenario of someone trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.
this makes 343 look competent
I hope the dudes in the suits finally come to grips with the reality that trying to win over that 5% who gives a damn about DEI just pisses off everyone else.
Diversity was one of Overwatch’s big selling points. And it still genuinely works well for them.
Diversity is a core game component in terms of recognising and reacting to opponents.
Just sounds like you’re trying to push a rhetoric
@@ddfb494355 Nah... ;just look at the character designs, Overwatch characters look fine. Concords characters look hideous and more like racist caricatures.
@@ddfb494355no man, I don't even play Overwatch, but none of those Concord character are even close of how good some OW charecters are. (Widowmaker, Genji, Reaper, Reinhart to name a few)
Literally the entire player count is streamers and reviewers.
Every investor in the West should be looking at Wukong, looking at Wukong's numbers, and calling the studios up to tell them to fire every "consultancy firm", drop the agendas, and make them something like the Eastern studios are doing.
More than 90% of Wu Kongs player base is from China.
Nah man some of just play games for fun. not gonna care bout these agendas yall keep yappin about
First off that's exactly the problem that spawn wave was just talking about getting on the bandwagon now and five six years when the game is ready no one cares. Second hopefully the studios have learned our lessons from places like Blizzard, that have to bow down and tiptoe around the Chinese government to get their game approved. ultimately making it worse for the entire world
Chasing trends is what got them here
Lol keep living in your delusional culture war or grow up
Nobody wants games that are anti consumer… that’s why Concord has failed at launch…
If it had a Story Mode, maybe that justifies the $40.
They created this while knowing Overwatch 1 was being created.
Sure, try to explain why Concords launch was so bad. Won't make you look like a Sony shill at all. Not in the least.
Theyre literally called freegunners, kids arent going to be pretending to be a "freegunner"
Everyone has limited time and if you're already invested in other games that you have played for years why would someone play this.
8 years development to produce Horse Shīt
8 years to appease the women who bullied the nerds on staff to include self-insert character designs of themselves
When even the DreamcastGuy doesn't like a game from Sony, then you know how Sony fucked it up.
@@IIPlayer15II yeah the beta was actually fun. I also respect the fact that they’re not doing the traditional “paid battle pass.” But yeah There’s little setting it apart from other competitors. And they’re all free. I’m not a fan of Microtransactions and would rather have a model like concord be the standard. But that’s, sadly, not the timeline we’re on.
Their push for this game on PS Stars is hilarious too. They wanted people to pre-order, buy, play, etc for points. I bet most aren't doing it. I'm not spending money for the equivalent to maybe $0.50 or $1 if you pre-ordered too.
It died the minute it went full Sweet Baby Inc DEI, with virtue signalling and identity politics. I refuse to buy games that push social agendas over actually making a game that gamers want. Black Myth Wukong is what I’m playing this weekend.
Why would they design some of the most horrible character designs in history in a genre that is defined by its heroes?
I'm surprised no one did a twisted metal-like live service game and expanded on that IP's mechanics and scope
I’m pretty sure they was in the works that got canned
lol imagine matchmaking with only 100 players online.
WoW and Black Myth Wukong are dominating the news, streaming space etc so it ended up being a worse time to fully release than i even anticipated.
I was just about to say, WoW just released a new xpac too, if they released a bit ago when everyone was bored in s4 and looking for new stuff to do.... Also valve's new game got leaked and its already got a lil playerbase going on thats slowly growing.
I think they should scratch the game take the assests and do an overhaul/redisign and take a new direction for the game I think this would be it's only saving grace
Gotta give Firewalk the credit they deserve. I've never been so revolted by character design as much as some of these and only from a couple of seconds of exposure. Not easy and a record that may never be broken.
340 players currently. Weekend, evening in Europe, day in Americas.
Embrace monke
The current player count (Friday night in USA) for Wukong is over 1.2 million, and about 480 for Concord.
But I thought this was for the "modern gaming audience" why aren't they supporting this game? I'm very disappointed.
Diversity is our strength, so like, I guess we're really really strong now, and this is what strength looks like! /s
Happy to know that people are voting with their wallets
Black Myth Wukong: It's better than we thought.
Concord: It's worse than we thought.
"The wages of Woke is broke."
- Harvey Cthulhu
It also launched at the worst possible time with many people playing Wukong right now. No one is going to stop to play Concord, even if they actually bought the game.
The game is visually uninteresting and anyone who uses the word "woke" is immediately going to reject it. This is a dead franchise before it was even birthed. It could come out with the most banging gameplay, and people will still ignore it. It's that boring to look at.
Spend that 40 on Kunitsu Gami instead. You won’t regret it.
It's on gamepass
If you expect me to play 40 dollars I would expect at least 5 to 8 hours single player story mode. This giving cutscenes periodically without gameplay is just dumb. What are we doing? Are we watching tv or playing video game?
Devs gave out more than 700 free codes to friends and family …
Cmon we all know the main reason why it is really failing. Spoiler alert, it is the same reason why that dogshit dustborn is failing.
A live service failing and a single player game massively succeeding is what this industry needs. Concord was 8 years late to the hero shooter trend
Free to play in September😂
Concord honestly has the most uninteresting (and ugliest) cast of characters in a hero shooter ever.
It wasn't about timing its just a bad game.
Mortal Kombat 11 a game from 2019 still has 1,000+ players on steam. Concord just launched with only 657 on steam.
Hear me out, is it possible that ALL the modern audience actually bought Concord and play the game?
