I mean time is most expensive thing, how come there time is so cheap?
Maybe because diversifying your income is important, or they want to give back what they learned.

I'm a programmer in NYC, working for BBG, building trading systems,
but outside work, I wanted to code something like strategy or research tool to find patterns and alpha.
I have a huge interest in trading.
Problem is, I don't have historical tick or minute data.
I'm willing to work with anyone who got data, I'll code for free :-)
