There is just something inherently appealing about Rollins. I remember when Black Flag was popular and he was a complete maniac. The fact that he’s taken so many risks, is so well read, and seems really open minded is hard not to like. He also takes aging in stride, which is refreshing. The fact that he is always targeting young people to be more informed about politics, music, etc. is just honorable.
Am i the only one who would want to attend a 5hr Henry rollins show and come out happy to sit longer? i liked him a few movies and stumbled onto his talks from wacken he is, life is amazing, and he can spin a tale like no one.
Although he's kinda lost his original edge in the past few years, I still love him. A fellow world traveller with insatiable curiosity and a Loner4Life. Thanks for posting. VIVA HENRY ROLLINS !!!
I interviewed this man when I worked at KSDT, and he was very cool. After reading his books, I thought he might be not so hard to talk to. Not so. An attribute to society.
“... with the dust of Baghdad still in My boots...” Only Henry Rollins would ever be able ( if He chose) to put that in a song and mean it ; and say it without sounding like a braggart ... He is the Man that will Never die ... because He’s been living since the day He was born .
+Scott Udell I think he will eventually. I'd say in around 8 to 10 years time you'll be hearing his name bandied about quite a bit. I've watched Henry grow since his early days with Black Flag... he's getting better and better and better... and is slowly starting to filter through to the main stream. People call that a sellout, but that's ridiculous... Henry's a model of determination... good will and respectability... he's one for the world... he's the real deal, and people know it. Yeah... at a guess... I'd say we'll be seeing 'President Rollins' around 2025.
Read the details in this video's description...Renaissance Man. The guy's body of work speaks for itself. Always probing, always questioning. Thanks, Henry, and keep putting in the work!
Great interview! Henry you are an amazing guy and love what you’re doing and such a real Man, my next tattoo is you next to my LEMMY. You both live your own life but not judging and love people. Keep it up!!
Keeping it real Rollins. We and the future will remember that. I say "we" as there is an army who get what it is about. Know you personally and exactly, never. But the concept, yeah.
47:40 I wish people could pay artists directly [after downloading content they like for free]. Be able to easily locate a site where one can pay [donate to] the artists via payment methods like paypal (but hopefully encourage the use of payment small independent payment sites). I posted this idea online a year ago here in the Silicon Valley area. I'm a terrible drummer, so I understand and appreciate being able to do so. I especially like this idea for artists like black blues musicians from way back who got next to nothing for their work, yet corporations have made and continue to make millions.
Rex Greene I agree. I used to buy albums rather than copy them as a way to honor the artist, but now it is a moral dilemma as I can find it on the internet easily or have no clue how to get to it and pay. Weak for the artists and I have a pang of guilt when interest gives way to interest. I am not alone, but still feel bad.
same with nirvana, in high school all the preppy kids always stopped at my question of "do you know any other song besides smells like teen spirit?" lol
Ben McNitt SXSW takes on those companies. If you are implying Rollins is taking money from them or supporting them by doing this interview then you missed the point of the conversation he had. He has never done THOSE commercials or been paid by them
Alex Morales I am a mere mortal with a band on MySpace and was surprised to see ads on our website. Where is our approval for this? Where is our pay for this? Nada. Same for the immortals.
I can't imagine seeing Henry with a beer in one hand and a Big Mac in the other. If that would ever happen, that would truly be the seventh sign of the Apocalypse!
on a side note, as a barber, I feel personally offended that someone thought he or she deserved to make the decision to give Henry Rollins a haircut that trendy. He still looks great, but it erks me.
Years ago I watched a documentary type thing with Henry and a woman I cant recall, and he was being heckled by the hipsters in the place and I just thought "whats wrong with those people, cant just enjoy themselves and let other people live." Well, I never got on it personally but Ive become aware of the hellscape that is twitter and I realized through hearing about it that most people are like those ridiculous hipsters...they just want to rain on other peoples parade...thats where they find purpose....baffling.
Do you know how he got to the point where the name drops like all these people are just dave-from-down-the-street? One, he kinda stepped into music history at the right time. Two, he's one of very few from that time period in music who are still fricking alive. Three, he's been a writer, performer and jobbing actor for the better part of 40 years and just making sure that you have a paycheck will get you a lot of repeated contact with a variety of people in the creative industries.
Yeah basically Oh Henry has been protecting his brand that's why you don't do I call or tobacco commercials cuz that's bad for his brand. Don't get me wrong I do like his art like the song liar but he's an Entertainer no different from anybody else

He oozes charisma ++++
He´s a man of integrity.
I don't love everything he's done, but Henry's been my hero for decades now and I don't see that changing in future.
I feel yuh on that , honestly I could care less for his music, his opinions are much more entertaining
The man just keeps getting better with age. Can't wait for the next talking show tour, been way too long
All hail King Henry.
He´s the Man!!!

Ian MacKaye is the same. I''m not sad about it.
@Evan Goch Very true. Anyone who's the same at 55 as he is at 20 is either immature or missing out on something.
I interviewed this man when I worked at KSDT, and he was very cool. After reading his books, I thought he might be not so hard to talk to. Not so. An attribute to society.
Seeing Rollins a few years ago was the best part of my life!!! even when he was finished NO ONE got up or left for a while
“... with the dust of Baghdad still in My boots...” Only Henry Rollins would ever be able ( if He chose) to put that in a song and mean it ; and say it without sounding like a braggart ... He is the Man that will Never die ... because He’s been living since the day He was born .
Why doesn't this man run for president? Rollins 2016.
+Scott Udell cuz only stupid ppl do that
+Bruce Leslie You've made such a wonderful example, with your spelling and grammar. I'd love to see who you would vote for.
+Scott Udell ron paul
+Scott Udell..... Hahaha, amazingly well worded.
+Scott Udell I think he will eventually. I'd say in around 8 to 10 years time you'll be hearing his name bandied about quite a bit. Great interview! Henry you are an amazing guy and love what you’re doing and such a real Man, my next tattoo is you next to my LEMMY. You both live your own life but not judging and love people. Keep it up!!
Holy. Fucking. Shit...
Henry is the reincarnation of Henry Miller so when he talks about Miller @ 00:49:00 my jaw hit the floor.
I like Henry..he's straight up correct, no bs..
Keeping it real Rollins. We and the future will remember that. I say "we" as there is an army who get what it is about. Know you personally and exactly, never. But the concept, yeah.

He helps me a lot, What a brilliant Human being :) Great stuff. Fuck all the bullshit
Husker du ♥️
People who say Henry is a sellout are people who wear tshirts with bands on them they never heard
same with nirvana, in high school all the preppy kids always stopped at my question of "do you know any other song besides smells like teen spirit?" lol
I've been everywhere, man.
18:15. Anyone else see the McDonald's and Miller Lite ads on the banner?

Sometimes I strongly disagree with Rollins, but the dude is inspiring as shit.
on a side note, as a barber, I feel personally offended that someone thought he or she deserved to make the decision to give Henry Rollins a haircut that trendy. He still looks great, but it erks me.
That really made me LOL, so accurate.
Henry details the things he said no to, and half of them have their logos above his head on the backdrop.
21:00
A republic.
If ! You can keep it.

What's with all the corporate sponsorship?
An interview with Henry Rollins... sponsored by Pepsi. Just like actual Pepsi, this leaves a bad taste in my mouth to see all those logos!
Hot hot stuff.
34:35
Is it me or does Henry look a lot like Morissey here?
Michael Slick yeah but not as douchey
+Michael Slick Nah Henry aged wayyyy better.
+Michael Slick It's you.
Henry Rollins - King of the 'Mic Drop'!!! ..."what's that?, oh, sorry..." - I mean NAME DROP.
Do you know how he got to the point where the name drops like all these people are just dave-from-down-the-street?

Time for a haircut, Henry!
this is the first time i've seen him with a haircut, and i don't like it! he usually just shaves it and then lets it grow
All brought to ya by McDonald's, AT&T, Budweiser, Seimans, etc......hahaaaa.
Just josh'n Henry. I like Henry ok.
How dare you skip on Kyrgyzstan, Henry!

Yeah basically Oh Henry has been protecting his brand that's why you don't do I call or tobacco commercials cuz that's bad for his brand. Don't get me wrong I do like his art like the song liar but he's an Entertainer no different from anybody else
