I was over medicated at the age of 14 to deal with my abusive home environment (DCF wouldn’t do anything because I had a “bed, roof over my head, and food in the kitchen”) and now I’m finally coming off of my medications and let me tell you it does give you a clearer mind. However, it’s good Britney is out of the environment. I’m still in the same place, and now that I’m coming off medications it feels like I’m the only sane one in a mad house. Her message really helped me reignite the spark and desire of wanting to get out of the toxicity and start healing with my cPTSD.

Her life was completely controlled and manipulated from the very beginning. She was a commodity to her parents and ultimately the pressure put on her from such a young age is likely what created these mental health issues to begin with. I understand how she feels. My mother who is bi polar accused me of trying to kill my brother. I was only about 5 or 6 at the time the blanket fell on my brother as we played under a makeshift tent. He got tangled a bit and she walked in as I’m tryna help him but my brother was scared and hysterical. I was put in a foster home and eventually aged out. She never came back for me. I’ve felt like my whole life I had to try and convince people I’m not crazy. When one person builds a picture about you to others it’s hard to make that go away and sometimes harder to ignore. I mean yea now I’m older and my family eventually seen my mother had issued, they don’t believe her anymore but I still feel like it defined who I was to my family before I even knew who I was. No one believed me because my parent was manipulative.

I was being sexually abused as a young child and when I was old enough to know what was happening to me and spoke out, nothing was done. I was basically disowned for speaking truth. Her mum is honestly such a hypocrite! Saying she did her best to help her out of hardship, when all she had to do was just to stand up to her husband and actually help her daughter. But she didn't. So those words fall flat and I am not surprised that Britney doesn't want anything to do with her. Britney is such a rock, still standing after all this.
I understand how she feels. My mother who is bi polar accused me of trying to kill my brother. I was only about 5 or 6 at the time the blanket fell on my brother as we played under a makeshift tent. He got tangled a bit and she walked in as I’m tryna help him but my brother was scared and hysterical. I was put in a foster home and eventually aged out. She never came back for me. I’ve felt like my whole life I had to try and convince people I’m not crazy. When one person builds a picture about you to others it’s hard to make that go away and sometimes harder to ignore. I mean yea now I’m older and my family eventually seen my mother had issued, they don’t believe her anymore but I still feel like it defined who I was to my family before I even knew who I was. No one believed me because my parent was manipulative.
I'm sorry you had to go through that. I had a similar situation happen to me growing up. I was being sexually abused as a young child and when I was old enough to know what was happening to me and spoke out, nothing was done. I was basically disowned for speaking truth. But, years after that situation I can say God can heal any hurt and provide you with a new identity in him. Hope you are in a better place today.

That was extremely unfair and really cruel to say the very least as there is not much that can be put into words on how hurtful and traumatizing this was to you. Im so glad you held on to your truth after all those years and never let anyone make you believe you tried to hurt your brother or you were a bad person.
