    I tried to use GRAMPS without the use of these tutorials - a total failure. However, with these well organized tutorials I have come to recognize the power of GRAMPS and have gradually learned how to use it. Thank you so much.

    Glad I came across this tutorial before I got too deeply into entering data. This will save a lot of time in organizing and entering information.

    Extraordinarily useful and well organized introduction to GRAMPS, which is by far the most flexible and sophisticated genealogy database/research program I know of. That is due to features such as tags, attributes, privacy flags, evidence ratings etc, all of which can be combined to create very detailed filters for use in displaying, finding, exporting your genealogy data. For example, one could have a export filter for creating a narrated web site for use by the public and, by using a different filter to exporting the data for use by family members in which the filters prohibit or allow export of private/sensitive data. Users can choose which features to employ, so it can be as simple or as complex as desired. It does have a significant learning curve for those who want to make use of its full powers.

    Wow ... just installed GRAMPS and had started loading my data ... but thought perhaps I should see if someone had taken the time to provide a USEFUL tutorial, which could save me from lots of false starts. I am glad that I did, as your videos seem to be just what I needed. Informative and thorough. Thank you for putting these together and fast tracking my learning curve. :)

    Great tutorials - thanks very much for making these! did you ever get around to making a video about how you organize your media and files? Would love to see that.

      I did! My personal filing system is still in limbo. I found a major flaw and have yet to find a good solution but here’s how I organize in gramps

    This software purpose can go FURTHER than just making genealogical trees... imagine writing a book, and this app got so many categories to fill in, places, notes, relationships for various people

    Hi! Thanks for the video! Is there any way to view the complete tree, meaning with all the siblings included in the same view within the tree diagram?

      You can run reports on gramps to display various types of family tree lists that you are use to seeing elsewhere. It also can produce a website

    I have the same goal as yourself - to share my findings with others who don't need to know about gramps at all - and I've been struggling to find genealogy software that doesn't spit out a hideously ugly website. I'm curious 3 years on from this video where you landed. What do you use now?

    • @tech-tutorials
      @tech-tutorials  2 года назад

      I still use gramps and while I don’t love the website it produces it’s not bad with the amount of information it includes. Unfortunately I don’t have the time I used to have to do genealogy so it’s not progressed much since I made these videos.
