This video is so helpful!! I am in college with baby #3 due towards the end of my semester… I am constantly worrying how I am going to work around taking care of baby and the normal day to day things while making sure I get my schoolwork done. Thank you so much for this video. I will be watching a few times to get all the information.
This was super helpful! I like that you mentioned adding tasks that go towards your goals to your non-negotiables list. That's something I need to work on.
Thanks for this. I realized while listening that I do some of these things, like the checklist day, but I don’t formalize that in my routine… maybe I should.
So good. Loved this! I do these things but need to be more consistent and being intentional. I really like the low and high energy focus.. I will definitely try that.
Instead of doing New Year's Resolutions, I like to have New Year's Priorities - this year was Friendship and Mental Health. So on my day-to-day non-negotiables are at least two tasks that prioritize one each. For example, send a text to someone I haven't spoken to in a while to check in as part of my Friendship priority.
I’m going to need to watch this again and take notes. Very informative, thank you! I think that being truly aware of what time I really have will help!!
Great tips ! Thanks for sharing! I’m not a writer but I have always used time management at work . Working on using it home to get stuff organized and set for the new year.
Thank you for the tips! I'm really going to try hard to be more productive next year. Probably won't be able to make it for the live stream Saturday. My son is going to Tennessee on Sunday for Christmas so we're doing our Christmas Saturday. I will download the workbook (thanks for that as well!) and catch the replay. Oh, and I signed up for your manifesting course! Excited for that too! 😁
Great tips! Thank you! I especially resonated with the high and low energy tasks. I feel like during the winter months my energy level drops so arranging the my tasks fitting that energy of mine is important. Also I like the idea of the Gist Days. I'll see what I can work with :) Wishing you a wonderful Christmas Time and sending you lots of love
I've been using task blocks and it's been amazing. I get so much more done. Had Chinese food with my hubby the other day. My fortune said "Live your life one block at a time". I kept it and put it on my board.
I think I'm in the over estimating group, I think I can get more done in a shorter period of time. I like the task block system. I'm terrible with time sinks like social media/internet/gaming.
My top 5 strengths are Relator, Maximizer, Focus, Competition and Activator. A few of these make me a natural sprinter, but I will be working on tracking my time, low energy and high energy task and having a GYST day. Thank you so much for the tips!!💞
I have a Timular. It never 'stuck'. The half letter time tracking sheet I print daily has been working for me for the last month or so. AND...tip...I find I do enough digitally to help me 'unravel' things if I forget to write them down. Between when I got a call or text or worked on a doc etc. I can retrace my steps by looking at those time stamps.
I love Pomodoro, but you don't have to do 20-25 minutes. Some people do 30 minutes. You can also tailor it. For some tasks I do 10 minutes. Others I'll set to 30 or 20. It just keeps me from getting scattered.
Oh I really needed this video! I'm going back to work in January for an 18 month term and am feeling very overwhelmed as I'm also trying to get an art career going and finish my non-fiction book I've been working on. I will absolutely be watching this video again.
The low and high energy task idea is amazing. I’m super not an Achiever (in the Gallup Strengths) so being able to have different ideas of moving towards my goal that aren’t so stressful but still help me is awesome. You’re awesome.
I do need to tame my terrible habits of just going down the procrastination rabbit hole for 2023. Will start to track how much time things take me for a few weeks to try and get a good idea of what I need to plan for
I've got a question on planning out writing projects. If I want to write a picture book, I have no idea how long that would take. Weeks? Years? So far it's taken both of those. I want to plan the projects, but the timing is not something I can nail down.
Creative projects are the hardest to nail down. I'll talk about this more in the livestream Saturday. Sometimes it can really help to break that bigger project down into the smaller tasks and see how long those take. Plus that can give more direction than just "write a picture book". But if you've tried that and are still struggling, it can also be helpful to give yourself outer accountability, like planning to have a piece of it finished and promising someone you're going to send it over. Another strategy is a gameboard strategy which I'll go over Sat.!
Thanks. Very interesting but I'm retired and live alone. Get up, play the piano, write, visit friends for coffee, create some synthwave, eat, watch sci-fi/fantasy, and bed. It's heaven.
Love the video! I've started using task blocks to break down my hour-long writing session each day, and have been very productive in getting words done (for some reason, an hour seemed like an impossible task each day after work, but two 25 min sprints? Easy peasy!). I downloaded Toggl while watching the video, and I may try to use it for time tracking - I've tried tracking time in the past with a pen and paper, but of course I'd get distracted and forget. Hopefully, using my phone will make it easier to track the different things I'm doing for my author career on a daily basis (alongside my full-time job). Thanks for the tips!
Sarra, how do I change the email address I registered for your newsletter please? I have had to abandon my old email address due to getting spammed so much!
I am absolutely horrible at estimating how long something takes. I often think I have magic time that will just expand to whatever I need to get done even if it's humanly impossible. 😒
Have you tried tracking it for a month and then creating estimates from there? So much of what we do is recurring in some way! Except maybe the creative part of the writing process, which is really tough to esimate.
@@HeartBreathings I have a calendar that I keep of track when I work and what I do, but I'm not very detailed. However, I generally have about 90 minutes to 2 hours in the morning and about that amount of time in the evening so I have a decent idea of how long I've worked on something that day depending on if I used both blocks of time. My issue is, I can look at my manuscript and see all the revisions I need to make and blithely think I can get it done in like 2 weeks - when any thinking human being (including me in hindsight) can see that isn't possible. But I do this EVERY time! Sigh.
I only have one thing I wanna complete: this darn book and I’m having trouble cuz my brain is just not in a good place…starting therapy in January, finally…
See you Saturday for our writing schedule livestream! Let me know in the comments which of these tips you're going to try!
I’ll be there!😅
Hey Sarra, thank you for this super video! I’m going try GYST days… And I’m looking forward to the annual writing schedule lifestream!! 👏
GYST days sound great, I’ll definitely try this tip! Thanks for a great video, Sarra.
I’m watching this at midnight instead of studying or sleeping.
I think I’m nailing this.
Loving this and planning for 2023. Plus your hair looks really nice here.

I always struggle with putting too much on my plate/expecting too much. I'm slowly learning to pull back with every quarter with HB90!
This is everything I needed heading into a huge year, thank you!

I'm a pen to paper girl. So I don't focus much on word count. But I like the sprint idea and grouping task together.
These are gold. Thank you for your content, it is always valuable!
💗💗💗 obviously I love the content but also you look so pretty and healthy today!😊
Aww, thank you Nikki!
Love this video - so helpful! Feeling motivated to start looking ahead to 2023 and perhaps doing some GYST days before the end of 2023 :)
That timeular thing seems straight out of a sci-fi movie, i love it.
I'm definitely going to try breaking down my week into task blocks.
Supper helpful. I know my writing has improved so much since participating with the live sprints at HB
I am going to try out GYST days in 2023 😊 I think this will be super helpful, and fun. Also, Sarra your hair is growing so fast! You look great 😊🌻
Thank you for sharing this excellent time management technique. I’m excited to use this. Time management is something I definitely fall short on.

Your hair though 🥰😍 I know your hair has nothing to do with what you're saying but I love it! It needed a shout out if it's own. Haha

Totally loving these tips/reminders in such a great format! Always picking up some awesome nugget of advice from my favorite "mentor"! 🤩
Thanks for this! I feel you on the motivation thing. It’s hard sometimes! So thanks for all the tips.

You and the hubby ever switch high/low energy tasks? Him do the numbers if he enjoys it, you write his emails since writing is great?
Your hair looks great! 😍
@HeartBreathings438 hi! How do I contact you?
I didn't even know there was a giveaway lol!!
