I’m a recovering alcoholic, and her behavior really brings back horrible memories (or lack thereof). Addiction turns you into the absolute worst version of yourself. She’s not a bad person, she’s a sick person in desperate need of help. Alcohol is also tricky to quit because the detox is dangerous and can kill you. So people try to taper off, but they don’t know how to do it properly. And if she has epilepsy, unless she gets a Librium prescription she is at such a high risk of life-threatening seizures
sucks because she 100% has bpd and probably has it in her mind that her friends only care when she was the absolute worst version of herself. When she was sober those "friends" would treat her like garbage ...gonna be a rough and long recovery
As someone who has experience with drugs and addiction, both on private life and through my work - alcohol and opiates are the two things I always tell people to not screw around with. Partly because it truly f*cks you up on so many levels, but also because it's so much easier to come in contact with and access
@@IronFreakV Yup. It took me five attempts, a DUI, a seizure, sweating through my bedsheets to the point I needed to buy a new mattress, panic attacks, puking blood, a medically monitored detoxification process, and a twelve-step program. Parasocial relationships often occur from either people being lonely or being online for long periods every day. It's bad but I'd argue it would be wierder if you didn't. People generally build relationships with people easily, we are social animals. Some even speak to themselves or infuse inanimate object with a "personality". If you were lonely, your brain has adapted to substitute others with inanimate objects due to socialising being a core component of humanity.
The toxicity of the internet during the “let’s go into everyone’s past and bring up things with no context just to try to make them look bad/ruin their career or image” phase was f*cking horrific and everyone who was a part of it should be ashamed. Before people start criticizing me for saying shit I know nothing about: I'm a recovered alcoholic at 24 years old.
Not really. I don't let myself hinder what I want to do because of epilepsy. It's shitty to deal with and limits what jobs we can have, but I don't let it interrupt what I want to do in life and live it the best way I can.

It is entirely her fault, she ruined relationships and events by turning up to streamer parties three times as drunk as anyone else, constantly did erratic things like diving on tables, running at mountain lions, pretending to be on medication "for a bit" and not clarifying at all when people try to stop you drinking. HS Kids do this, not adults, not famous adults and certainly not famous adults on live camera. People can handle these streamer personalities when there is an off switch, Minx did not have that button. As someone who has a close family member who suffers from epilepsy, alcohol and epilepsy do NOT mix well together, but specifically the medication and alcohol. Also, alcohol withdrawal can often cause seizures for alcoholics, particularly if they're already an epileptic. A seizure is essentially an explosion happening in the brain, can occasionally cause brain bleeds and other injuries, and overall can cause a person's memories or personality to alter over time. I've seen this for myself, and the medication doesn't help in that regard due to how powerful it is, ESPECIALLY back in the day. Overall, epileptics get a lot of sympathy from me, as do the people that love and care for them. Having epilepsy is a nightmare, but being the caretaker for an epileptic isn't much easier. In my experience, epileptics tend to have personalities that are "rough around the edges" and can be abrasive, can sometimes be mistaken for being bipolar, have hoarding and/or Disassociative tendencies, and overall can be difficult to be around. It's not their fault (entirely), but something like alcohol and bad friends do not mix well with epilepsy. Minx is still young, and I wish her nothing but the absolute best.
@@TurbidTG1 You have my sympathies, friend. Much love and support to you, and I hope doctors are able to find the right medication for you that isn't too powerful. I know a lot of progress has been made in the cannabis and CBD department, but I don't know if it would be effective in helping treat your epilepsy. Take care, and God bless.
I think people need to learn that being bipolar is not just flipping between being happy or sad. Manic episodes can last weeks, even months. As someone whos tried to support someone like that in the past, i dont think her "bad friends" are as much to blame as people in the comments suggest. Whilst i sympathise greatly with her, acting as the support network for someone who is actively trying to tear you down is a lot more exhausting than it sounds, even if you understand where its coming from.

Poor girl, she is stuck in a self destructive spiral. Alcoholism is one of the hardest things to overcome as it is seen as socially acceptable and reinforced to a point. Minx is clearly in need of help but the worst part of it is unless an addict actually wants to change and makes proper efforts the spiral just continues downward. Here to her wishing her luck if the can make it in long term recovery.

people being so invested in other people's lives, especially online personalities, will always be the strangest thing to me.

The case of Minx is just incredibly sad. It's unimaginably hard to say no when you're beyond a certain point when you have a problem (or just as much a history) with substance abuse. Does this excuse her for what she has done wrong, of course not. It does, however, make the cases of blatant disregard by people she'd call friends of her struggle even more messed up.

Not really. I don't let myself hinder what I want to do because of epilepsy. It's shitty to deal with and limits what jobs we can have, but I don't let it interrupt what I want to do in life and live it the best way I can.
Minx's story makes me a little sad because in the beginning she seemed like a genuine and sweet person. I feel like alcohol and internet drama ruined her. I sincerely hope she gets the help she needs.
As a former alcoholic those people around her 1000% contributed to her drinking more than she would have. The fact they're watching her drink that much and no one is stopping her is disturbing and tells you they weren't true friends.
I give props to QTCinderella as she called Minx out and tried to get her help and be a good friend. The rest of those assholes were content farming this poor girl until she wasn't pulling the views then they dumped her to be alone. Real trashbag humans.
I hope Minx can get herself together and come back and be the old Minx before she met up with the "big" streamers.
THIS, I said this in a comment on this. That guy who told that one girl she can't drink on the medicine she was on was an MVP. He protected her from not only herself but the peer pressure. That man deserves everyhing for trying to keep her safe
@Remmeister2000 And they shit on him for being responsible. Frankly, after the tenth damn time of telling Melina to stop id be taking that bottle from her hands. Dude is a patient teddy bear.
Sadly, despite being manic, shes right about so manu streamers being fake bitches. Its one thing to avoid the blast radius of her meltdown but several of those fuckers contributed to it for content. Minx seems like oje of the few people whove fallen off that isnt just striagjt up horrible, simply broken, naive, mentally ill, and maybe a little stupid.
Absolutely agree. It's super sad. I feel like nobody takes accountability for their role in it as well. They all could've stopped it sooner and yet they just sat and witnessed it unfold like it was "just" a bit. Of course some of them did try, but they really fucking failed big time.
I think they didn't understand the severity of Minx's situation until the whole QT - Minx drama. i genuinely feel bad for her. don't really know the whole drama and haven't been watching her for a couple of years, but she doesn't seem like a bad person. and it feels like people aren't treating her fairly. of course, you can't blame all of your mistakes on mental health, but it's youtube drama, man. everyone has done/been accused of something shady. and it seems like people are just ganging up on her for some reason. she's not by any means a saint, but it does feel unfair and sad. life sometimes is very cruel
In fact any slight resistance she gets she claims it's due to her BPD, which even if true, only further reinforces she is not someone to affiliate with when you have an online career.
@@several. those are pretty irresponsible and problematic things, you're right. still though, hope she gets proper help. alcoholism is a really tough thing to power through, especially with mental issues. again, in no way this excuses this kind of behavior, but it is really a pity that her story has turned out this way. i think it's just pure chance that we got to see a thing like that unfold and be documented, but it's really scary how many people struggle with these issues
it's understandable why, let's say, alcoholism is generally frowned upon and is considered a sign of "hitting rock bottom", but still is very sad
mental health is very important and a lot of people don't take it as seriously as it should be taken sadly
but still thanks for the explanation, i understand this story a bit better now
@@several. She has a disease, and mental health issues, bozo. It's super obvious. Before she got involved with the people who very obviously don't care about her, she was consistently a decent human being. The woman is obviously depressed, and has an addiction to alcohol. @@several. problem is that her friends encouraged that behavior and then left her behind when she finally became too much to handle. with better friends she might've not had turned out like thi, which is why I feel bad for her. @@Thomas48484 Maybe, but from what I can remember (and that may be false) but I'd recall after every streamer party that Minx did x and made everyone x, maybe I didn't watch closely enough but it seemed like only ever her direct friends would "encourage" her behavior, but even with them, QT literally gave her another chance and she still fucked it up, that was support, and I'd have to imagine if she'd risk losing her own projects integrity, she has offered other lifelines and support which wasn't appreciated.

I have had struggles with both alcohol and mental health. Even when you stand to lose everything you care for, it's still difficult to defeat. I am nudging close to 3 years sober now, and in hindsight remember that weakness in my gut when I would start bargaining with the "I am a borderline alcoholic, I just need to know my limits". Thankfully I had people here to help me through it. I feel nothing but sympathy for minx. She got conditioned to feeling rewarded for her self destructive behavior falling even deeper in the hole that I was all too accustomed to. I hope she gets herself together, stops drinking, and get her meds and therapy right. She still has plenty of time for a bright future. Same for anyone else reading this that is going through the same. I'm 44 and feel like I still have so much life ahead of me. You also have plenty ahead of you as well.
Hey! Congratulations on your sobriety that has to take a lot of work and dedication. Thanks for sharing- I’m sure it’s a tough road but when I hear people speak on it it gives me hope it can be done.
@@meredithjohnson2843 It can indeed! The hard part is learning how to "play the tape forward" and make it louder in your head than the bargaining process. My first suggestion for anyone dealing with it is find someone to talk to. I started going to see a couselor to help me through the processes and turned to family and friends to keep me accountable. If you don't have access to any of that, AA or other support programs can be of great help. I know how they can be and how hard it is to make effort toward going. Just remember 3 things. No one got perfect overnight, it only too late while you are taking a drink (not immediately before or immediately after), and the more you tell people you've quit drinking, the more motivation and strength you have to push forward... if I had to make a fourth it would be "to hell with the naysayers even when they catch you in failure", but it's easy to forget to forgive people when they haven't been forgiving to you.
I’m on pretty heavy meds for it. I’ve had seizures that I don’t notice coming, those are the worst ones! AND the doctors don’t know what cause them.

Look up BPD!
