    I've taken courses on both platforms in the past but I wanted to do a quick comparison of the two online course platforms from the perspective of a print on demand designer. I've been designing tee shirts and stickers for years but I've recently decided to up my game and really try to improve my skills. I tested out a new(er) platform called Domestika and really liked what I found. I started with one course and pretty quickly enrolled in two more. I'm not saying that Udemy isn't great or that there are not great courses on Udemy. For me the overall quality of the content on Domestika has just really impressed me. Check out my comparison video!

    I use both, but Domestika is definitely more focused.

      Is there some sort of feedback on domestika?

      @@TheLittleUncanny Some teachers do have a feedback feature, although they are not reading comments 24/7. So it might take some time before you get a reply.

    Is Domestika good for beginners?

    • @MerchMetrics
      @MerchMetrics  2 года назад +4

      Absolutely, I started tutoring with almost no experience.

      It’s basically ONLY good for beginners. Most courses are not as valuable if you know all of the basics. There are a handful of advanced courses. There are some courses (many or most illustration courses) that don’t teach what you think they will teach (in the case of illustration courses, they don’t actually teach drawing).

      @@drawitout As I get farther in many of the courses I see exactly what you meaof them are a little light on the actual content of the course.

      @@MerchMetrics Yeah. I find you often get more a collection of tips and tricks. I also find it frustrating when I see big, beautiful, and complex example pieces for a course, but then when I watch the course, their actual project example is much smaller and simpler. Usually I get excited to try the course because I want help knowing how to create more complex pieces. I try to stick with only the longer courses now (min 4 hours, but preferably longer), but there have even been a couple really long ones that seemed to cover only the bare bones of it (almost all stuff I already know).
      Generally, I try to find the negative reviews for a course before I decide to buy to see why they rated negatively. The positive reviews cannot be trusted (unless they are longer).
      Having said that, I have been a member for a long time and recently had a customer service experience that made me feel unappreciated as a customer, so I don’t think I’ll be giving them any more of my money.

    Careful on domestika especially when buying their deceptive cheap courses. They are sneaky and unethical and you might end up 100 dollar plus hole in your Acct. Speaking from experience. Also no refund.
