  • Reviewing online learning platforms; comparing the pros and cons between SkillShare, Domestika, MasterClass, and RUclips. Which platform has the best online classes?
As an artist, I've tried lots of different education platforms (and worked with quite a few of them too including these ones). Here are my thoughts & reviews on each platform, then ending with my favourite/s.
My experience/involvement/potential conflict of interest with these platforms:
    - RUclips: I am an active weekly creator and earn ad revenue.
    - SkillShare: I did influencer promotion of their platform for 3+ years.
    - MasterClass: I bought their program for 1-year of access.
    - Domestika: I recently created a course with them. I also continue to buy their other courses with my own money.

So glad you're finding this video helpful! As I mentioned, I created a course with Domestika! Check it out here: www.domestika.org/en/courses/1755-the-art-of-mandala-drawing-create-geometric-patterns/fortyonehundred
After trying all these platforms, the ones that I use as a student AND as a teacher are the ones I think are best :)

I prefer Domestika myself. I had subscribed to skillshare before but only ended up watching a few videos. I prefer more curated and much higher quality courses. I don’t mind paying for them individually, I feel like my time is better spent on mindfully chosen courses.

I appreciate you taking the time to do a comparison. I've been flirting with a few Domestika courses. And just how you explained Domestika is exactly the vibe that I get from the website and the course previews. Everything seems very professional and the courses seem to be of high quality. Thank you for sharing this! Hoping you do well with your course.

Good and tks for the honest sharing. I have always been using Domestika and find them very professional, not only fare the teachers they invite but the shooting and contents .... worth every penny. Not to mention they are cheap and can be by course.

Domestika is fantastic, especially for artists and visual artists. The fact that many aren’t in English isn’t really a con unless one can’t read, plus it’s introduced me to so many great artists that I would never have found on my on.

Thank you for this video. I have been struggling so much with making a decision. I am unable to afford to try out multiple and really wanted a thorough but easy-to-understand video and this was perfect. I have tried Skillshare in the past but honestly, it felt like a waste just because I get so easily distracted and with thousands upon thousands of options I severely struggled to keep up with the courses or even pick them. Domestika is the one that has stood out the most to me because I hate monthly payments, especially as a college student who may not always have the time to use the classes during the year I am paying for, and because some months are financially harder than others. I think paying per class is an amazing idea, especially since it helps me focus and not become so overwhelmed with other options. If I pay individually it will make me become more mindful of where my money goes and adds more value to the content of the course, because I paid for it and want to put it to good use, if that makes sense. This helped me a ton, and I also really loved your artwork too so I subscribed!

yes definitely worth a punt - I'm glad this sounds like curated udemy (I just hope that creators get their fairshare - udemy are quite bad at discounting courses en-masse and then if you're not yet a 'star' on the platform you never really earn back the time you put in, this sounds like the creators are established already)

Thanks very much for a great video. I really love Domestika as it's so professional and a real creative hub as you described it. I also love that after paying for a course on Domestika it's always there to return to and watch again. I love Patreon if you want to follow a specific creator but that has varying monthly fees depending on the creator, but most have quite low monthly costs for a LOT of add free videos which are far more in depth than RUclips, and also provide other resources as part of the monthly fee. For a specific creator Patreon is by far the best. I use Patreon for my three favourite artists, and Domestika for different courses that interest me, like watercolour technique, drawing in pen and ink, bookbinding and music. Take care, David. Xxx

I started with Domestika, researching right now about Masterclass, that's how I came to you. There's a lot of courses I'd be interested in, I'm just really confused about the "20$ per month but... billed annually"? Am I paying per month now or not? ^^ Not quite getting it. But from the ones you have to pay for, I'd say I love Domestika the most, because it's just so balanced in how professional everything is and how much money you have to pay for the courses. Through their discounts you can get quite a lot of courses, but aren't tied up to pay a certain amount of time which is just great. We all know how fast one's financial situation can change and how much even 10$ less per month then can get you in trouble sometimes.
By the way, I really enjoy your hair colour. It's SUCH a nice ash blonde

Nice breakdown. I've used SkillShare in the past and just got a free year of it via my company as they have a $200 yearly L&D budget for all employees. I still find that RUclips has been the best place for me to find quick and concise tutorials on stuff if you know how to filter. I also have RUclips Premium, so I don't have to deal with the ads.

Hi 👋 thank you for your video, it’s very interesting. I’ve purchased courses from Domestika too. I was looking at the possibility of creating my own course with them too. I could not find any information on their website about how lucrative it is for the artist. Only answer if you’re happy to answer my questions of course……..Does it depend on how many students sign up as to whether you’re successful or do they give a lump sum? Super good luck with yours, how exciting! Xx

    • @fortyonehundred
      @fortyonehundred  Год назад +2

Domestika Plus is the Domestika subscription. Instead of buying one off courses you pay for yearly/monthly access to Domestika.
Domestika Plus includes: credits to exchange for courses, an additional discount on individual courses and course bundles, access to free open courses every week, and a few more things.
It essentially depends on how many courses you want to take! One or two courses? Worth paying per course. Many courses? Probably worth paying for Domestika Plus membership
