If any series is gonna blow up outside of Australia, outside of people who know who Spanian is, it’s this one. Keep going with this bro, do this all over the world lad
As a Barcelonian I would not say el Raval is the most dangerous hoods in the city. It just turns out it is located in the city center, close to the tourisc area and that why it has became more popular. But hoods like La Mina has always been far more dangerous
Exactly, i live in Barcelona and El Raval is full of junkies, prostitutes and pickpockets but the really heavy people and areas are in the outskirts of the city.
I did not know about this guy until 3 days ago, and I am absolutely bummed to realise there are only 4 episodes of this series! I am absolutely hanging for more episodes man! These are so good!
Mate,I'm an actual koori, from Penrith NSW,I use to go to the Mnt Druiitt Water Works in Western Sydney AUSTRALIA when I was a kid, I was brought up, or should I say dragged up in that area.
Love how you articulate the way you feel in the most humble, raw and respectful way uso. Authenticity is entertaining and you got it brother. How you explained the way you look and how it impacts you in different ways in different neighbourhoods helps your viewers imagine it all. Awesome stuff
I love how REAL spanian is. 'i am this tall, 110 kilos, covered in tattoos and i look like someones whos been to jail' this is times when it makes it better and when it makes it worse. such an intelligent bloke. the kind of guy youd love to have on your team and hate to be against but you wouldnt have a bad word to say about him either way. im proud of him turning his life around and becoming just a top bloke. spanian, your someone actual kids and teens should be looking upto and i hope you know that and are proud man. if my kid told me you were a role model for him, id tell him to heed your words and dont make the mistakes you did but that he picked a good person to look upto. keep on keeping on man.
numba one lesson for kids is "dont try to be who he was, but be who he is now" goes for any role model cause otherwise theyll go dark path trying to have the horrors to get success
Hmmmm. He probably needs to do a better job of condemning his previous life - he has videos on yt where he is basically bragging about the rampage he went on one day at his highschool with a knife, another video where he talks about trying to rip off Centrelink and getting as much money as you can from them , and another video where he says drugs are not good to use, but they are good to sell to make money. Not exactly a role model with that stuff floating around
@@andrewyeah3143 that stuff as before his redemption arc, the rapping and being hectic, and on the gear! But he's changed his ways and his life. So as the other fella said the kid's should strive to become whom he became
Spanian, I liked this episode - much like most people, I'm sure. I think you should get an interpreter and head to areas like this and try to talk to the locals in the hood. People watch you because you’ve lived this life, if you could connect with the hoods you’re going through it would be much deeper… also you might be able to get an invite into the locals houses and hear their stories. Keep up the good work man.
He could do that but i feel the reason he does them solo is to mitigate the potential of someone getting hurt. He's walking in the "worst" areas of each city and anything could happen and yeah he could defend himself if shit were to hit the fan but i doubt he'd want the other person to be injured or worse.
@@rhyshutchin5 Potentially, that's why it would be better for him to hire well known figures of those hoods as opposed to some skinny nerdy tour guide lol.
That lad was speaking Moroccan dialect and he was arguing about some family/friends problem where someone he trusted wanna sell something they were both involved in behind his back 😂
It’s crazy they didn’t say nothing to him filming, it could start a fight. 🤦🏻♀️ I don’t know why doesn’t happen more bad thing in there, because people it’s disrespectfull, and don’t lnow that in that hood live dangerous people, and don’t take care.
@@annapedrola5813 I don't think anyone there would want to mess with Spanian, they are more likely to be intimidated by him based on his looks, they would assume he is someone involved with a certain group you don't wanna fk around with, bad things happen when certain tourists who lack environmental awareness would cross those alleys while carrying a bunch of stuff that would attract the type of people you don't wanna meet.
Yes. We dont like tourists because a lot of them do not respect our places in environmental terms (dirtiness and noise), they occupy all the city without letting you get through as if they were the only ones on the street, the household and shopping prices are high because of them... That's why the posts on "tourists go home". But basically because of the issue on household prices, that unable yoyngsters to leave home until they reach 30.
And I got to say that Barcelona is Barcelona. People outside from the city and beyond the metropolitarian area is already different. More friendly and that. I would sometimes attribute this coldness to being a city, because I don't live in Bcn and I never stop surprising myself at some point.
Mate, found this channel through your Sydney walk through. I love how you're just honest, not over playing things, just, this is how it is. I've been around for nearly 5 decades. I've seen a lot. But, mate, you've open my eyes to things I've heard about, people I've met told me about, and you go out and are sharing that life experience with the world. And I'm one of them learning. I've seen a lot, but Far from everything. Love what you're doing, I hope it brings success.
I used to live there and he's definitely over playing things. I used to DJ and would walk back home at night trough that area all the time with all my expensive gear. Never had any trouble, never felt in danger. This video is a lie.
@@Hoytash Why would I discredit a RUclipsr for no reason? I simply can't stand sensationalists and I don't think the people from Barca would like this video. It is simply misinformation. Don't shoot the messenger.
"You're in the middle of El Raval. Angry faces only" 😂😂😂 Best quote, love it. Found your channel yesterday and been binge watching ever since. Your personality and content is just so relatable.
I lived and worked in el Raval 1996 to 1998, the best time of my life. I am Catalan living in Oz now. Back then i was a Registed Nurse carrying A$10.000 worth of morphine and other meds for palliative care use around the neighborhood. Us nurses didn't wear uniforms, but when we walked those streets people would give us way. It was like the parting of the Red Sea: everyone knew who we were and no one was stupid enough to mug us, we helped the elderly, the sick and dying, the AIDS patients, the tuberculosis ones... there is honor amongst thieves, and one does not shit in one,s own nest. I got my 1st tattoo in Carrer Nou de la Rambla. I still visit my friends in several bars in there and I miss the piss smelling narrow streets with everything I,ve got. My 1st partner lived and died in el Raval from heroin overdose (suicide, intentional). A part of my heart is in el Raval forever.
Theres no honpur amongst thieves. Your just lucky you werent robbed. Here in my city drug addicts would have robbed you 100% if you were carrying drugs on you.
I live in Barcelona. I walk these street often to cut through to other places. I've never been hassled down there because I'm not looking to start shit with anyone or cop anything. If you're basically on your way no one gets in your face. The place is tame.
Brus, you should get a guide on your next trip so you can go inside the buildings and talk to the people around the hood. It would take your videos to the next level. Otherwise, great work man, absolute legend. I'm with you for this journey 💯
They would dispel the idea that Raval is some dangerous "hood". It's a regular ass neighbourhood, just slightly lower income than the surrounding ones. This video is pure nonsense.
Raval mostly got a bad rep for scams and not too nice at night but other places are worse imo like La Mina got that real sketchy feel but that is more of a suburb if inner city I would say Trinitat Nova is the worst with the areas close to it.@@cholst1
you should try and get in contact with someone who lives in the area before you head in so you can get a feel for what its like to live there etc from an actual local and maybe they will show you a crazier side to it as well.
He does that for his Australian videos. Difference is people in Aus know his rep and who is. Because he is with the right people he gets into places he would not normally have been able to. His video tours of Darwin and Alice Springs were eye openers. If spanian doesn't speak the language and no one knows who he is. Then he would have to pay a fixer.
Completly agree beacause it’s not what you see in this video. In the good flats the rents are expensive, in the bad one cheap. In that hood cultures are very mixed. But Raval is not that dangerous if you are smart, but if you go here to visit, don’t enter to raval at night, and don’t go with all your jewlery. Barcelona is very besutifull, it has beach and mountain, and whatever you want. Be clean, don’t be loud, and try typical catalan food, as fricandó, escudella, caragols, and more, don’t pick the rambla’s restaurants, because it are expensive, and food it’s very bad.
Ok , I’m an older guy in my forties . Never thought a great deal about Spanian in the short content but in this content this guy is a legend . As good as anyone on the net . Keep safe brother
Travelled solo throughout Europe and was pickpocketed by homeless dudes in Barcelona, and some tried in Italy. That said, loved Barcelona, hung out with locals, folks from other provenances and randoms from across the globe - some of the best experiences ever! Look forward to more of your adventures.
As someone who has watched your videos and listened to your music since almost day one! It is amazing to see how far you have come brother. The sky is the limit for you!! You're an inspiration!!
As someone living in Barcelona, I believe this video would be even more valuable if it focused more on the common scams and tricks that people should be aware of. It was great that you included the part about the women in white at Plaza who offer selfies-that’s exactly the kind of information viewers need. Understanding these scams is crucial, as it’s not just about avoiding dangerous neighborhoods but also about being prepared for the subtle ways you can get caught off guard. Highlighting those aspects would really enhance the practical value of your content, not just for people visiting Barcelona, but for anyone traveling to other major European tourist cities as well. Thanks for the effort you put into making this video!
El Raval is seedy and a bit rough in some parts with some crime, but nowhere near as bad as he makes it out to be. It's a really characterful "barrio" (not "hood") and mostly safe to walk around during the day. I lived there for 15 years and never had any problems, even walking home late at night as so many people were about. You have to keep your wits about you and take care of your belongings, the same as in many parts of Barcelona where tourists are a target for thieves. And there are drug dealers and prostitutes, but they leave you alone if you don't bother them. In this video it was clearly filmed when most shops were shut so there aren't so many people going about their daily business. Despite the outside appearance of buildings and narrow streets, many flats have been done up - you just have to look on a property website to see how nice some of them are. I lived in a flat on fourth floor with a narrow, shabby staircase and no lift, but once inside the flat it was lovely and light. I was less keen on being serenaded by Filipino neighbours on their karaoke every weekend though :) It's interesting to revisit the area in the video, despite the many adverts which interrupt it.
As a young woman who has lived in Barcelona for 8 years, Raval is not the most dangerous area of the city. Go to La Mina. I have friends who have lived in some of the areas you walked through. It's interesting to see your perception of what was going on around you and someone saying 'tito' - that means uncle.
I've lived next to La Mina for 20 years. My kids have friends there, they've played there. It's dirty, noisy and smelly, but as long as you stay away from the usual suspects (you know who), nothing is going to happen to you. Walk into Raval at night means trouble. Violent trouble.
@@spartan963300 All the arabic writing you've seen has nothing to do with what happened 600 years ago. That's mostly people from Morocco, Algeria, Pakistan and a few other countries that have come to Spain in the last 20-30 years. You can see arab influence in arquitecture, mostly in the south, not in a mobile phone shop ;)
You should link up with Kurt Caz for some of the South American ghettos. His Spanish speaking and general knowledge of South America would really help the series out.
Don't think a collab would benefit kurt all that much, given he has more than 10x the amount of followers. I also couldn't imagine them getting along all that well but that's just my guess.@@Lebaby
Very interesting video. I've lived in Raval for 5 years and sure it is rough, there are a lot of drugs and some shit happening, but the rough charm is something unique that attracts tourists and foreigners moving to Barcelona. It's pretty gentrified, used to be way worse from my understanding. Many of these streets that looks sketchy are housing tons of hipster kids, skaters and people with decent amount of money. It's grim, but personally I loved it and never felt unsafe, although you always have to keep your guard up still. They test you and if you act like a tourist, you are an easy target.
First night in a squat in Raval after the usual street guys trying to rip us off and prostitutes an Estonian guy in his 20s came in to the squat and asked who wanted a BJ, he left his gf and child to explore his need for cock
I lived in Spain for 6 years, 2 hours north of Madrid. Bought an old flat in a working class suburb, which reminds me a lot of where you were walking around. Back in Oz now, but man, you're giving me a walk down memory lane. You were wanting to get in to the hallway of those flats. Usually the doors are well secured because of squatters. Once they get access to your apartment it is very difficult to get rid of them. Really, nothing much to see. Mailboxes, stairs and an elevator .
@BrendanBFree not sure where you're from, but from my experience in Spain, squatters were very hard to get rid of. It could literally take years as there are certain aspects of the law on their side. I saw reports of people who had a mortgage on a flat with squatters, and they had to keep paying the mortgage or risk losing the flat. And if you tried to physically harm them, you ran the risk of ending up in jail yourself.
Used to live in Raval, lots of parties and a lot of fun. No problem. Totally different at night. You can buy basically whatever you want at every street corner. Lived right here 48:01thanks for the video was nice to see Raval again!
I just got back from Barcelona, go there often as my daughter lives there. That’s 50 minutes of my life I won’t get back watching that. I’ve walked through the Arab quarter often, never had a problem. It has more of a reputation as being dangerous at night. During the day just petty stuff which can happen in any European City. Few simple rules, don’t put your wallet in your back pocket, in fact I take out one credit card and a few Euro. Don’t put anything valuable in a back pack, in a crowded place they will slice it open. Don’t film walking down the street with a camera or phone, spot the tourist! If you are lost walk like you know where you are going. If you want to consult you phone for directions, find a seat, sit down and pretend you are playing on your phone. Don’t walk around with ya phone in your hand they will snatch it or leave it on a table at a cafe etc. They also love to get you when you are trying to buy a subway ticket at a machine. You can see the suss people usually when you come out of the subway, especially around Las Rambla and El Espana. I have been down that ally with the prostitutes, nobody hassles you. As for the graffiti , every shutter on every shop in Barcelona is the same. Every ally and every street in Barcelona has those narrow alleyways, not just the Arab quarter. The locals were warning you that you stick out like dogs balls the way you were walking around. Final rule don’t engage with anyone with paint faces, dressed as characters or offer you anything especially when it’s supposed to be free. Don’t trust anyone. I’m a 65 year old skinny white blonde guy and never have a problem, stick out like dogs balls down there. You blend in, you were never going to have much trouble, only the camera was drawing attention to yourself.
its just clickbait crap.. i watched 30 secs and just came to the comments.. anyone who's been to barca knows that this place is fine.. its literally spewing with tourists most of the year.
Been Barcelona many times, El Raval is not dangerous, it's just a very unlucky place for tourists who aren't street smart. I've been in some weird stair ways in buildings to buy weed etc, never had a problem. I've had friends who have been pickpocketed/robbed, but they were either drunk or dumb enough to put their bags down and not keep an eye out. These petty theives cover most of the center, however there is more around El Raval with it covering one of the main streets etc. Best thing to do is - Don't look like a tourist (advice for any country), and don't talk to randomers that approach you.
@@streettravelxxi It will be someone else who snatches your shit while they talk to you. It's organised crime with pickpockets. They're shady pussies basically, for the most part.
Not looking like a tourist I think really helped me in Poland when I went on my own. Only wore my backpack when I was coming from the airport or getting on the train with my luggage also. I took my handbag I use here everyday and just put my essentials in it.
@@ThroatGoatNancy goes a long way! Theres scumbags everywhere sadly, and tourists anywhere in the world are easy targets. Not looking like a tourist, knowing where to go before you set off etc, will make you become 99% safer I swear!
Span is informative and funny at the same time. Loving the series I hope you never stop because obviously honestly none of us would dare to do what you’re doing.
I used to live there, he's lying his ass off. It's not dangerous at all, Barcelona is packed with police. Yes there are pick pockets, but there are no gun fights, this isn't America, it's Europe 😂
@@timspiker did you not listen to him at the start bro, he said that that el raval isn't dangerous for gangs and gun fights but dangerous for tourists cause of theft etc
@@djbolt178 Not even that. I lived there, I was a DJ before Covid and I'd DJ around that area. I often had to go trough there alone at 5 AM when I couldn't get a taxi or metro. I would walk with DJ gear on me and it was quite visible I was carrying equipment. I did this for 4 years, never got robbed or threatened, never saw a knife. I saw some agression one time, it was a Columbian guy cussing me out because I had a NASA jacket with the American flag. The way I resolved the dispute is I let the guy put some tape over the flag and he cooled down after. I don't know why he was carrying tape. But, most of the people there are just junkies. The only reason people fear it is because people make each other paranoid with fake stories.
I got lost here in 2005 with my Mom and my wife. I stopped into a shop to get directions out and the shopkeeper was like "get out of here quickly and keep a your bags in front of you." It just started to get dark and there was a palpable anxiety. Your videos are great Spanian!
First video I’ve seen of this guy, subscribes 2:30 into the video, this is great content, seems like a genuine guy and very informative. Keep it up brother. Love from the UK
Seeing the birds fly away and then when you pan the camera in the direction of where you're walking, catching a glimpse of your hand swinging into view is almost pov video game like and I like it. The reflection in the ground, idle people... The graffiti and modernized history with old columns and churches but porches and coffee shops .. I fuckn love this
I lived in El Raval for 19 months and got harassed exactly 0 times. I am not saying it doesn't happen, I think it's just a way of presenting yourself and not drawing attention. Also, not looking like a tourist really helps. Leave that backpack at home, don't take out your phone in this area, don't wear happy Barcelona hats, shirts etc or carry / wear anything bought at a souvenir shop. Just like in any not-so-great neighborhood: don't be ignorant.
I think you get pickpocketed faster in main center of Barcelona, then at El Raval. I walked through El Raval never even thinking it was a 'dangerous' place
Barcelona just is one of the pickpocket Capitals of Europe (with Naples). And since it‘s so close to the center a lot of tourist especially the solo ones who mostly wander off they are easy to rob. It just seems like an poor area with a drug ploblem that just tryna make the easiest money available. Nothing too brutal
I'm a new subscriber from the UK and I think Spanian is amazing...loving all the videos, espcially the scary laugh...Me and my wife binged watched him for 3 hours the other day. love it
This was another awesome video from Spanian . The guy is like our new Paul hogan he talks to the people he’s got good humour. Better than any of the commercial channel shows Get away and all that . He’s showing you the real places in and out and the food . It’s cool how he was picking things to eat and not knowing what was on it or what they were as we all would off all in the experience. I wish him all the best he’s killing it and can’t wait for the next shows. He’s getting better every time all the drone shots, and his footage . 👍👍👍…
Ima sorry bro but look at this guy he ain't the normal tourist is he they were probably scared to tell him to turn the camera of whether they had knives or not😂😂
Absolutely fascinating series, thanks Spanian. I can imagine it gaining international popularity to the point that you're invited into these hoods as a guest. People want to tell their stories, and have done since the dawn of time. There's definitely value in the content as it is now, with you walking through just as anyone else would. Perhaps also some of your audience could connect you with leaders in these communities and give you a different level of access?
I am a 55kg woman and am not afraid to walk around Raval at night. Tourists are targets for robbery because small scale theft is a misdemeanor; not a crime. Otherwise someone might just want to sell you something, or help you find a club to smoke weed or get laid. Generally not out to hurt anybody. Lots of immigrants in Raval; doesn't mean they are dangerous people.
You are AWESOME! Your series is really taking off, a d I love your honesty - the way you give us snippets of your life, share your thoughts and feelings, and generally come across as an amiable, very intelligent guy (albeit with a pretty colourful history!) I wish you the very best. PS - I think you are a wonderful role model for young guys who may now be in the same place you once were, and now get to see what’s possible when you have a dream. ☺️❤️🌷
This dude popped up in my recommended, been binge watching a bunch of his videos, they're super chill, Spanian got a great personality. Greetings from Sweden :)
Its cool how this video captures the universal aspect of human cultures. I like that you go into this self aware and not put on any bs act. Loved the video brought me back to good times!
To be true, I honestly didn't think I'd like this from you. But I did bro and I found it quite captivating. Barcelona is one of my favourite cities, but never seen it from this angle. I appreciate it. Thanks.
It's been mentioned a few times in the comments. Been watching Spanian since Jordies shouted him out, and listened to his book on audible. This is by far the best style of content he's produced. Personality, ability to communicate thoughts, and an interesting setting makes for a great watch! Keep it up bro!
Yeh it’s easy to say that but I think spanian is smarter than that, who knows what they have and they can out number very easy, I think he’s a lot smarter than that to just walk around thinking he’s untouchable highly doubt he would do that or have that in mind when he’s going to be doing this
I'm so glad youtube algorithm finally showed me something proper, mate, I've gotta say you are a top-tier vlogger! I absolutely love your vibe and all of that, I would say you are in the Kurt Caz category. Absolute legends. Greetings from the Czech republic!
It's not top tier. He's lying about how dangerous it is, I used to live there. There's some pick pockets and druggies, but there's no gang violence. Barcelona is packed with police and they keep the streets safe. It's not gangland.
Shout out to ya bro . All credit man, you have completely changed your life bro. Good on ya lad, I’m a fellow ex drug user, grew up in western Sydney. Did a couple lagging’s through various jails. Your videos are a great inspiration keep it up
Because of your history i love how you can interpret certain situation's. Its really entertaining to get your perspective. Best series so far, straight out
Solid Series bro, Showing Europe for what it is. Your explanation of how things operate in hood areas is far better than anyone else out there on RUclips. Hope this Blows up. All the best!!
I used to live there and apart from pick pockets and drug abuse, there's nothing dangerous about it. I used to DJ and would walk there alone at night carrying all my expensive gear. Never got robbed. Barcelona is packed with police and very hard on crime. This video is utter nonsense
Another awesome tour. Really admire your street sense and how you keep safe while producing great viewing content. The Sofia vid still sticks hard. Nasty. Full respect.
My city, Nantes, France has been known in recent years as one of the most unsafe cities in Europe. It's so unsafe, that an app has been created specifically to get home safely (especially at night). If you walked around here at night time alone, there's a very high chance your camera and bag would be robbed. If you resist, you'll most likely end up in hospital. Otherwise, it's a great city 😃
@@HavanaBobChannel Not really. I myself am an immigrant in France (from UK). But I work, pay my taxes, bought my house and will soon be a father. I integrated into French society and live a nice life. I like to think that everyone should have a chance in life, but I must be honest, it's kinda getting out of hand. However most of the violent crime and drug gangs here are French born from bad neighbourhoods, the rapes and theft on the other hand are mostly immigrants.
To those who don’t know , Spanian not only looks the part but he can legit fight. I think he made it clear that’s it not a good idea to go there and if you aren’t of the same capabilities as him don’t try it There are a lot of Moroccan and Algerian gangs in that part of Barcelona who would of robbed him if he didn’t look the way he does Great vid though and man has balls even after what I just said about him but as he said he’s seen it all before he would not have been shocked if it kicked off but no matter who you are if there five teens with knives you’re going to get stabbed and that’s how they roll over there. All the best mate
Heaps fun place loved it, coffee shops there just like amsterdam smoked bongs there with locals and randoms from around the world on el classico weekend start of the year
As someone who is 6ft 5 and 200lbs, I can completely recognise what he says about how he looks determines how the different levels of criminality respond to him. I've been able to travel the world relatively unscathed and be immersed in experiences most people would feel threatened in simply because the street gangs don't want to mess with you... HOWEVER that DOES change the further up the food chain you go. The people higher up in these gangs see you as a threat to their respect / standing in their gang. Loving this guy though... His humility is refreshing!
I used to live in raval myself and never had any problems, you can see why it’s called the ghetto but I’ve always felt safe there being a blond hair blue eyed male. Loved to see a little trip down memory lane this video but i still missed some more crime hotspots in raval then the ones showed which are way worse. But further more great video!
I like that you are transitioning from just food reviews to travel type vlogs. I think it would ad a lot of value if you were to interact with the locals more and get into some interesting conversation/situations.
I remember hanging out in some park in Barca towards the sea end, Sunday afternoon, was really nice. Just before sunset the park started to empty out, and as soon as it had set, all of a sudden the place was crammed with incredibly shady looking people that looked downright murderous and we couldn't leave quick enough. I've never seen vibes change that quickly. By comparison I've walked round Raval on my own a few times after dark and did not feel so bad about it. The other thing is how rife pickpocketing and bagsnatching is. However, I do quite like a lot of the street art. I don't like pristine urban environments. Graff and murals add individuality and tell stories.
@@phoenixzappa7366Troll alert activated. I guess you havent seen a spanish person in your life. I guess my spanish farts look more elegant that you at your wedding day.
I went on a trip with my late husband and his colleagues to Barcelona in the 90’s. We went to see the art galleries etc. The very first night as we left the bar having eaten, I was mugged!! It was so frightening. They injured my neck in the process, so I had to be flown home the next morning. I have sadly never had the opportunity to go back. Such a lovely city, what little I saw of it.
I m sorry for your sad story. Nowadays, the majority of the thief's are not from Spain actually, but from other countries, and they come to Barcelona to commit these crimes.I hope you can go to BCN and enjoy.
Lived in Barcelona close to 40 years, now visit it often (I live about 60 km away now). El Raval has some sketchy pockets, most definitely the square you started from and a couple of surrounding streets could be considered ground zero. That said, I used to get my hair cut on that square (the place is still there, it showed up on your video at 14:45!) and never felt threatened, though I did get a lot of propositions/offers from the local hookers and drug dealers. There there are several places in and around BCN that are as bad or worse than El Raval: certain pockets of La Mina, traditionally run by Gypsy clans, or the entire neighborhoods of San Roque (Badalona) and Sant Cosme (El Prat de Llobregat), the latter being so bad its nickname is "Comanche territory". I would definitely think twice about visiting other spots in other nearby districts/towns like l'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Cornellà, Badalona or Sant Adrià, especially at night.
I was right there a few months ago bro Great job showing the folks how it rolls Not too sketchy compared to other places, but we’ll worth the walk. Paris will be way more heavy Safe travels You are becoming a national treasure
Graffiti world tour. I think these series would be more interesting if he got a fixer to take him on a tour, answer questions about the history, insights into the culture etc. otherwise it's just a tour of the first world's dirtiest suburbs.
Amazingly good content great self awareness just gold. This is something ill sub. Solid mans work. Appreciate you for doing what you do with the background you have.
Spanian you are awesome. We need someone like you with your energy and influence to help sort our youth crime in Qld (random statement I know but I really think you could help the kids).
10 to 15 years ago, El Raval was much worse than it is now, but it was still mostly safe and walkable, even at night. Just like everywhere in the world, if you don’t go by common sense and street smarts, bad things happen. Hope you enjoyed Barcelona!
Nah mate, there are gangs at night. They do this thing with their feet in you feet like soccer players, and it is a diversion to rob you, take your phone, wallet, etc. I lived near there and had a couple of close run ins, if you stand your ground, you should be ok.
Spanian I have to give you credit bro this idea is amazing and very entertaining compared to your other content this truly shines. I can see your maturing as a person every year and just wanted to say keep it up. Also please don’t cut the drone footage out it makes these videos amazing but don’t risk it if someone comes at you for the bag just give it up.
Yup it is interesting to see the difficult neighbourhoods of the world! But the brother has to be careful of course coz you never know what can happen in these neighbourhoods! By the way, the videos on the playlist on my channel might interest some people!

loving the series, every single video has been very entertaining and informative. would love to see you do a IRL stream when travelling, i reckon the viewers would love it
it's mostly dangerous for tourists who want to get a bit kinky and see something "underground", then get drunk and go around the streets shouting "I looooove Barceloooonaaaa" at 3AM. These ones don't stand a chance. If you don't behave like a fool, El Raval is pretty safe. Go to La Mina and you'll be in a different trip. This being said, the Raval during the day is boring and not quite what the Raval is known for. You should go there at night to really experience it, and also talk to the locals.
Please dont do this in the slums of Istanbul. In Spain they avoid approaching you coz of your size and tatts. But in places like Istanbul slums or some parts of Balkans to Middle east you will be approached due to the way you look and holding a camera in some parts of the world you could be in danger that isnt worth the risk

I think you should get an interpreter and head to areas like this and try to talk to the locals in the hood. Yes.
Weird to see someone missing piss smell and junkies
Theres no honpur amongst thieves. Your just lucky you werent robbed. Here in my city drug addicts would have robbed you 100% if you were carrying drugs on you.

Was thinking the same thing. Him talking to a few people in the Australian episode really upped the legitimacy of it.
To enter some of the hoods 100% local contact needed
I kinda like the format right now. It's fresher than If he uses the same fixer that every other RUclipsr and tv crew uses!

Genuinely impressed you're doing those drone shots. The effort pays off. Quality of this series is great. Keep going.

Squatters are easy to get rid of, snap kicks to the dome will get them moving.
Calm down.. BFreeBrendan, be free..

You blend in, you were never going to have much trouble, only the camera was drawing attention to yourself.
agree with you on the 50 min wasted time that you never get back

I've been in some weird stair ways in buildings to buy weed etc, never had a problem. I've had friends who have been pickpocketed/robbed, but they were either drunk or dumb enough to put their bags down and not keep an eye out. These petty theives cover most of the center, however there is more around El Raval with it covering one of the main streets etc. Best thing to do is - Don't look like a tourist (advice for any country), and don't talk to randomers that approach you.

I am a 55kg woman and am not afraid to walk around Raval at night. Tourists are targets for robbery because small scale theft is a misdemeanor; not a crime.
It's not gangland.
kurt caz scam his fans Spanian doesn’t 😅😅 but i get what u mean.
what? how@@GoatWithStick

I lived there for 3 months when I was studying in Barcelona, loved every single piece of it. Great place and people
Shout out to ya bro .
Best series so far, straight out
Spanian walking around greeting everyone with "watdooin my brah" like they're from west Sydney is fucking hilarious.
I appreciate the drone footage my man💪🏼
Solid Series bro, Showing Europe for what it is.
If you look closely from 24:10. It looks like you just filmed a guy getting pick pocketed. 😮
Look like brothers to me
Hahahah what a nice catch!
Spanian is just such a genuinely happy guy. So full of innocence. Love watching him just do shit.
Love the guy, but full of innocence is a stretch 😂
Another awesome tour. Really admire your street sense and how you keep safe while producing great viewing content. The Sofia vid still sticks hard.
Nasty. Full respect.
My city, Nantes, France has been known in recent years as one of the most unsafe cities in Europe. It's so unsafe, that an app has been created specifically to get home safely (especially at night). If you walked around here at night time alone, there's a very high chance your camera and bag would be robbed. If you resist, you'll most likely end up in hospital. Otherwise, it's a great city 😃
But you happy with France migration politics ?
@@HavanaBobChannel Not really. I myself am an immigrant in France (from UK). But I work, pay my taxes, bought my house and will soon be a father. I integrated into French society and live a nice life. I like to think that everyone should have a chance in life, but I must be honest, it's kinda getting out of hand.
However most of the violent crime and drug gangs here are French born from bad neighbourhoods, the rapes and theft on the other hand are mostly immigrants.
That's a shame. Some parts of Turin are the same now. We all know the reasons.
I've been in Nantes about 20 yrs ago, a lovely and safe city.
Nantes est passée de ville réputée tranquille et sûre à gros bordel en peu de temps...
Même chose à Rennes qui suit le même chemin.
thank the north africans and muslim immigrants for that
To those who don’t know , Spanian not only looks the part but he can legit fight.
I think he made it clear that’s it not a good idea to go there and if you aren’t of the same capabilities as him don’t try it
There are a lot of Moroccan and Algerian gangs in that part of Barcelona who would of robbed him if he didn’t look the way he does
Great vid though and man has balls even after what I just said about him but as he said he’s seen it all before he would not have been shocked if it kicked off but no matter who you are if there five teens with knives you’re going to get stabbed and that’s how they roll over there.
All the best mate
@wigwam1747 No mate, this is real life not a John Wick movie.
Spanian i'm very grateful for everything you do straight up, your impact is bigger than what any words can describe, peace and love
Why I was full on nervous for him? 😅 Also did anyone translate that convo 47:46? just interested 😂 LessssOggg!
The drone footage really takes it a step further.
I’m really loving these videos and your persona, keep it up!
Fellow Aussie travellers. Just recently went to Barcelona...what a place :D
You got a record?
high on life ;) @@Mr_RPE
How do you afford it ?
@@Crayfishforever that’s why ya mum likes me eating her out cuz
Keep doing you Spanian!!! It's fantastic my guy. Better than 95% of any other travel show.
Spanian should just go to every hood and fight the baddest dude there, Russell Crowe fighting round the world style lmao
😂Gold. He needs a Tugga character. “foighten ‘roun da werld”
😂😂😂 mate... feeling the luv in that' last alleyway lol
Stay safe Spanian , 🙏 love your content 🇦🇺
I was engaged every second of the video, keep doing this as a series 💯
How did I just watch an hour of you walking around and not be able to look away? Great perspective.
I like that you are transitioning from just food reviews to travel type vlogs. I think it would ad a lot of value if you were to interact with the locals more and get into some interesting conversation/situations.
I would love to see you go to Ecuador or Colombia with that attitude.
A food review in every episode is a must 💯
I remember hanging out in some park in Barca towards the sea end, Sunday afternoon, was really nice.
They are just Spanish people. They all look like that
@@phoenixzappa7366Troll alert activated.
So sad/sorry to here that
I m sorry for your sad story. Nowadays, the majority of the thief's are not from Spain actually, but from other countries, and they come to Barcelona to commit these crimes.I hope you can go to BCN and enjoy.
Respectful and confident yet know you can get touched, that’s how you approach tougher places you don’t belong, well done
These episodes are going to be HUGE!! keep up the solid work Span. 💪💪
So much ugly graffitti in Barcelona
Since watching the Sydney walk through, I’ve been waiting for the next one… absolutely great video approach. Loving these, mate..
Didnt know they js spoke straight up spanish in barcelona thats sick
This is riveting content mate. You've got something big going on here. I love it!
Pickpocket at 24:07, guy bending over to pick up veggies and then man behind him has his hand in his back pocket.
I was right there a few months ago bro
Great job showing the folks how it rolls
Not too sketchy compared to other places, but we’ll worth the walk.
Paris will be way more heavy
Safe travels
You are becoming a national treasure
Graffiti world tour. I think these series would be more interesting if he got a fixer to take him on a tour, answer questions about the history, insights into the culture etc. otherwise it's just a tour of the first world's dirtiest suburbs.
Amazingly good content great self awareness just gold. This is something ill sub. Solid mans work. Appreciate you for doing what you do with the background you have.
can just imagine watching a 6'4 heavily tatted man playing with a drone hahaha legend
Spanian you are awesome. We need someone like you with your energy and influence to help sort our youth crime in Qld (random statement I know but I really think you could help the kids).
No, the parents of those fkn kids can influence and help those kids
10 to 15 years ago, El Raval was much worse than it is now, but it was still mostly safe and walkable, even at night. Just like everywhere in the world, if you don’t go by common sense and street smarts, bad things happen. Hope you enjoyed Barcelona!
Nah mate, there are gangs at night. They do this thing with their feet in you feet like soccer players, and it is a diversion to rob you, take your phone, wallet, etc. I lived near there and had a couple of close run ins, if you stand your ground, you should be ok.
This was awesome brother. Look forward to seeing much more. You have come so far. Been following you since the start. Big ups bruv
@@Younis1446 agree
this is fucking horrible bullshit and its totally based on made up lies. anyone who knows barcelona will know how sensational this shit was. raval is a dirty part of the city centre, but its not a dangerous place.
loving the series, every single video has been very entertaining and informative. would love to see you do a IRL stream when travelling, i reckon the viewers would love it
it's mostly dangerous for tourists who want to get a bit kinky and see something "underground", then get drunk and go around the streets shouting "I looooove Barceloooonaaaa" at 3AM.
I like the concept of your channel, good for you for doing something positive by showing these places to the world. Keep it up!
