Great handling. You obviously know how to utilise prey drive. What are his grips like now that he’s older? I’m about to take on a border collie kelpie to train up in IGP (schutzhund) and I’m hoping they have what it takes for the protection section.

Border collies and kelpies are sheepherds, not dogs to protection. It will be much difficult with these breeds than with breed born fot this (like Malinois itp). Griffin's mother used to train IPO (only biting) and she had so much joy from it. She was realy nice.
Griffin's grip is great, you can see how he is now on my channel in latest video :)

@@voidlesshearts oo ja rozważam aktualnie BC, kelpie i aussie. Szukam psa z dobrym will to please, on-off, odważny, przytulanka, dobry drive, z dobrym rodowodem. U szczeniaka nie bardzo można poznać te cechy, ale u rodziców tak. Szukam psa do frisbee i agi.

How was the old collie with him? We have an old boy and we are not sure how he will react to the kelpie's liveliness etc

Mine Border Collie has 3,5 yeras old now, and he isn't well with dogs, because I didn't know how to socialize him as puppy. Now we are doing great, but still he is rude sometimes. Luckily Griffin is amazing dog and I'm proud of him with learning how to live with Elmo (bc)

Hi there! I have a 3 month old Kelpie puppy and she is wonderful - loves to run, jump off of things, wrestle with big dogs at the park etc. I am just a bit worried that I am letting her do too much at this age and a bit worried about her joints long term. We go for a 45min-1hr walk in the mornings, she will run around off lead for a bit, and another one or two 30min walks each day and some wrestling and tug of war. And she still has plenty of energy to spare. Any thoughts on this level of exercise and if we are doing too much?

In my opinion it way too much for this little dog. Griffin had long walks 3-4 times a week and not in dog park - we walked in our city to socialize. I have never let him to play with stranger dogs - look, did you seen wolfs play with another wolf's pack? Dogs don't need to know every other dog in park, they need 1-3 close friends in thier pack except humans. When you let your puppy to play with every single dog she met, probably soon she will ingore you (that is really dangerous!!). Better take her in save place, play in tugging with her, teach her to ingore stranger dogs and people. I know that handle baby kelpie is hard, but it's worth it - when she grow up you will have best friend for YEARS.
Long walks, running and jumping in stuff for puppies could be dangerous. In my and my dog's physiotherapist and vet, puppies should have 30 minutes any activity per day! Puppies should be learn to sleep and do nothing - because life is boring and when human is doing his things dog should know that it's time to sleep (not destroy everything because is bored) - the same when humans are out, dog have to sleep, not destroying house. Dogs should sleep 14-20 h per day, puppies even more - 19-21h!! If she have problem with that think about buy kennel cage (Griffin loves his cage😁)

Oh no. Australian Kelpies are a working breed, not fair treating it a “ toy dog” pet. They are very intelligent and need mental stimulation and intense physical activity.
Beautiful dog but not at home treated as a pet.

He is getting mental and physical work in our environment. He is not my "toy dog", he is working dog and my best friend :)

What on earth? This dog has a great life. She obviously knows how to handle dogs. A kelpie can do well in any environment as long as their basic needs are met - which this one’s clearly is

What? Working Kelpies as specifically breed for sheep/cattle herding, bred from parents with very high agility and energy. Very few Kelpies would be suitable for the job. Other Kelpies are keep as pets, as long as they get the exercise and stimulation they need they are perfectly fine as pets.
