Yes, this is one of India's traditional dances called Garba. This is from the state of Gujarat. There are ~205 traditional / folk dances in India across the 28 states and 8 union territories of India. Holi is another festival celebrated in India. People smear coloured powder on each other to welcome the spring and harvest season. Colours have a special significance in the Indian culture and traditions. You will see this in the colourful clothes that Indians wear as well as pooja thaalis (trays of worship), which, amongst others, contain the following: Haldi - yellow turmeric powder, which is antiseptic (medicinal); it signifies removing negative energy. Kumkum - the red colour of kumkum is associated with fertility, blood and life. Red is a very shubh, sumangal - auspicious and holy colour.
The most beautiful thing about today's world is that we have grown to appreciate every culture and religion and tradition and each other as individuals ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

It's basically a story of forbidden love, where the guy (Ram) and girl (Leela) are from rival families. Ram goes into Leela's family holi celebration to woo her and that's when this song happens. Because of all the color no one recognizes Ram initially but towards the end Leela's brother spots him dancing with his sister and calls his men to beat him up. I enjoyed this reaction video. :) Generally most of the indians are good at dancing. Because of the amount of the festivals and the weddings we join. cuz we enjoy dancing in weddings like crazy.. rather than perfection in dance we most of the time enjoy dancing and live that moment 😂 and laugh at friends who can't dance . Even tho i haven't join a proper wedding i know we do these stuffs. 😂
Dancing at weddings seems to be more a Punjabi thing. Have seen it at Punjabi weddings. I've been to Gujarati and Bengali weddings, didn't see any dancing there. Most of the Garba dancing in Gujarat is performed during Navratri. Also, weddings in Maharashtra don't have a lot of dancing at the wedding. Probably true in the Southern state of Tamil Nadu as well. Don't think there is Bharat Natyam at the wedding, the dance seems to be reserved for performances. My two cents. As an aside, great rendition of If I Were a Boy.

In India we have several festivals and we have several dance forms. Each state have their own festival and dance forms and some festivals are commonly celebrated all over the country. Like in this video they are celebrating 'Holi' the festival of colours and love an ancient Indian festival. It is celebrated during spring. It signifies the victory of good over evil. We apply colours to each other and drink a local intoxicating drink called 'Bhang' which is made of raw Mariwana leaves or seeds and milk and lots of different kinds of sweets and savoury.
It's Indian Gujarati dance called Garba and all Gujarati are naturally train to dance like this and so much fun even we sometimes choreograph also while playing Garba 😂🥰😇☺
i am from gujarat where this dance is performed during navraatri answer to your question yes, we learn this dance partially from our elders and some opt to go to classes to learn different variety of steps
India celebrate festival called hoil which people apply colour on each other and enjoy and the dance is traditional dance which is mainly found in north India its song is from a movie called 'sitaram'.
This is the local traditional folk dance of gujarat( India) , people enjoy navaratri festival for 9 continous days playing dances like this..if u wanna explore please visit india..
In India .. this festival called holi and navaratri ( i mean in bengali they called durga puja ) .. and it is not powder it is a holi colour made with dry flower petals .. sorry for my english
Putting colours on face is one of the traditional festivals of India called "Holi". We celebrate this festival for good wining on bad. It's quite fun if you play Holi😁🎉😌
We indians can do all these dances as we dont learn it we just jump in it with a happiness in our heart and face and dance with fun......1:20 they both are the real life couples now
The story of this movie is abt the rivalry between cities in Gujarat( india) therefore this look of both actor and actress and this dance is called garba its traditional.
