I really think one thing other youtube djs DONT talk about is how the right lighting really helps the crowd automatically feel whatever you play. Not meaning they will love ANYTHING you choose to play, but it helps with the first impression. Djs talk about how you have to make the room trust you before you go all on. But if they see badass lights and badass equipment, it opens the crowd up to so many more types of music that will get them pumped. One step up from being able to read a room. Is understanding how to make the room read YOU in the right way. And that makes them easier for the DJ to read.
It's true DJs, get some gig vlogs up! I've had several times where clients won't even speak with me and book solely off what they saw/heard on the vlogs ( and I feel like that's gonna happen more and more). My vlogs are NOWHERE near as well polished as Barrs are. Don't have a camera (yet) - Get a tripod, get some footage with your celly, use Imovie to edit - BOOM you got a vlog.
