I guess for me, it was what Hajime Kashimo said in chapter 234 whenever he stated that the fight was for Gojo's sake and it would be wrong to intervene despite whatever happens. I suppose the others could have been staying away because of Gojo's powerful attacks, but that particular line bothered me for some reason.
I think it’s more like Pride, gojo himself said he was going to win and he claimed to be the strongest and so forth like sukuna and it came down to I don’t need anyone to back me up when I know I can do it on my own. Same thing goes with koshimo🤷🏻♂️

I do understand the criticism behind gojos death, especially with getting more time to spend with him. However, there is a beauty to gojos death that I really appreciated as well. He was the strongest of this era and shouldered the burden to protect Japan from the evils of curses and curse users, while training a generation to not repeat the mistakes of the previous one. It was due to this strength he had that he never felt understood by people, as if a gap existed between him and everyone else. His infinity represents that as well in a metaphorical sense that he can't be touched by anyone. The quote "you can admire a flower and help it bloom, but you cant ask it to understand you" speaks to exactly how he felt as a person. In his death his infinity was finally cut through, and it was in that moment that he finally felt like a normal person. Sukuna being the king of curses says that his infinity is nothing special, while it is definitely in a disrespectful way it also feels like it goes right into the struggle Gojo felt being the strongest. Sukuna gave Gojo the respect he deserved, showing adminiration for the power Gojo brought to this fight. Gojo also being the strongest was cocky and arrogant, which is why I don't blame him for feeling he would win, but it felt fitting for him to lose because of those flaws he had. The weight of the world is finally lifted off his shoulders and hopefully his lessons and goal of fostering the next generation comes to fruition. In regards to the way Gojo was taken down, it actually goes back to what Angel was saying while the fight was happening, if Sukuna finds a way around infinity Gojo loses. Sukuna planned strategically using Mahoraga to remove Gojos cards until he was finally able to learn from Mahoraga on a way to cut through infinity. Sukuna had the advantage against Gojo in terms of knowledge in cursed energy, so the high IQ play using Maho just further confirmed he is worthy of his title as king of curses. This manga works so well for me because it sets up and makes good on volatile deadly stakes while being able to get SO much done in so little comparative space and time that there's so much left for Gege to surprise me. And I think at every point where I'm like, 'well I wish this had gone on for longer or I wish we'd gotten more time w/ so and so', the story has always made it worth it by letting actual consequences happen and/or surprising me with something I didn't know I'd enjoy more. I'm so along for the ride at this point
I just caught up in the manga two days ago! I really like the recent chapters. It’s only fitting that Kenjaku was defeated by the most unpredictable ability in the series. The ultimate planner defeated by ultimate unpredictability-poetic. Gojo vs Sukuna was another interesting fight. I think Sukuna won because he always kept growing and evolving. Even though Sukuna is the strongest sorcerer in history, he still did his best to get even stronger by taking Megumi’s body. Gojo, on the other hand, spend the majority of the series coasting by on talent alone.
Gojo dying was really impactful. Twitter and all social medias were going off on Gege when Gojo died. We were all shocked about how it happened. Bc Gojo is a very popular character, even outside of JJK, Gojo is a very known and popular character and for him to die was shocking and impactful. The only thing that made me feel better was seeing the memes and ppl saying “Gege when I catch you Gege.” I agree that Gojos death felt a little off but I also feel like he might have done that to make it more shocking and maybe to hurt us more lmao. Either way JJK is a great series to me and in my mind Gojo is still alive .

If chants boost C&D then by default C&D in MS would be stronger as MS would grant this boosted C&D a surehit effect.(chants boost CT/surehit(surehit= your CT), not strenght of the barrier). Heain Sukuna can chants endlessly which means he can match the duration of MS being out. 2. If sukuna cancel out gojo surehit then use Fire arrow, he would break UV on the inside( mahoraga did it with pure physical strength in Chap 229) and it wouldn't last the 3min 9s. Confirming what gojo said about breaking his from the inside. 3. Chap 230 let us know sukuna turn off DA on purpose so he was purposefully taking damage. If it true form sukuna didn't use 10s, sukuna would never turn off DA and with stronger physical stats, he would tank all damage which means gojo wouldn't be able to break MS within 3min 9s by hurting sukuna within the domain. Gojo bearly made it against meguna while going allout( stated in chap 234 & by gojo himself in 236), this is why in chap 228 stats gojo would loss if he continue to stalemate with meguna MS as gojo will run out of options( which gojo did cuz he already used every tool in his kit against sukuna). 3.2 meguna was relative to gojo in h2h( being able to dodge, keepup, block most of gojo h2h). Gege definitely writes fast paced, and he has said he wants to end the story soon, I like it but its also different from something like Naruto/OnePiece. I do think it conveys how the world doesn't really stop for these characters but I think some more character depth would help. When Gojo was released they had the small training time and we really didn't see too much of them interacting, I think Gege really wanted to line up the death of Gojo with the anime sealing date so that may have affected it. But we waiting for almost 100 chapters to see Gojo fight and now hes gone (praying he comes back lol) but didn't really see him talk to the characters or maybe help them grow before he left. Love the story and think its really well written but just want more! JJK came here fast, went through all the emotions, then will leave. I think it will stand the test of time. I hope someday we could maybe have a spin off elsewhere in the universe
I kinda agree with you, the stuff Gojo was talking about in his post-death scene felt a little out of character. Like, I would've expected him to talk more about leaving things to the next generation rather than talking Sukuna up. But still, I found myself really impacted by his death. I loved Gojo from the moment we met him and I can't believe he's gone.
Exactly! It just...seemed wrong? I agree with you though, it was impactful. It was also a beautiful and peaceful moment with all of his friends being there with him. I know! 😭It's Gojo! It doesn't feel real. I am, however, happy that his impact will likely make these students the strongest group that Jujutsu High has ever seen!
Gojo got hit with the JJK equivalent of Yami dimension slash (black clover) which cut the space he exists in which rendered his infinity useless. Sukuna took a page out of Mahoraga book since his adaptation doesn’t stop. I don’t think Kenjaku is dead either, sorcerers are the best con artist.
For me, I personally hated the way Kashimo died as well. It was more like a one shot with his fight with Sukuna rather than him going all out then dying.
Part of the reason why I love jjk so much is because it has a level of realism most other shonen don’t have , this isn’t a Disney movie the power of friendship isn’t going to save u Megumi says “we aren’t hero’s we’re jujutsu sorcerers” and it’s so refreshing to feel STAKES , like other animes will be waging a “war” and at the end there were 0 casualties and everyone lives happily ever after
Whenever a sorcerer reveals his cursed technique, it becomes far more powerful. Sukuna still never revealed his fire trchnique yet that obliterated jogo and mahoraga when he was at 15 fingers. Imagine the destruction it would've caused if he did. That thing was as powerful as gojo's unlimited hollow purple technique. What would've happened to gojo if he was caught in Sukuna's domain and Sukuna ended up revealing his fire arrow technique? Just remember, when inside a domain, infinity is turned off automatically still gojo is vulnerable
CONSIDER THIS!!! Throughout the entire Gojo v Sukuna fight, Sukuna is talking to Gojo. GOJO however, is talking to MEGUMI. He’s satisfied because he finally gets to, in his own way, get through to his student that he IS strong. Why is Gojo so okay with the idea of going all out against Megumi? Because Gojo knows that Megumi can take it and dish it out, even if Megumi doesn’t. Why would Gojo ask SUKUNA if he’s paying attention to Mahoragah’s wheel? He’s asking MEGUMI if he’s paying attention to the wheel. Sukuna taking over Megumi just so happens to be the tragic set up for the fight that Gojo always wanted to happen. Even when he laughs when he thinks of Toji, it’s because of the irony of his son pushing him to those same limits. He’s so playful and silly the entire time, not because he’s out there fighting Sukuna, but because he’s out there fighting Megumi. I think this ties into what the concern over Gojo’s mental state before the fight. He’s caught between his hatred for Sukuna for fucking with TWO of his students now, his desperation to save Megumi, and the twisted joy he feels gains from this fight knowing that his best student (arguably) CAN keep up with him. He’s not alone anymore. Gojo’s Six-Eyes reminds him that he’s fighting Sukuna, and there are times where he loses his cool and “forgets about Megumi”. And in the end, I don’t think Gojo smiles because Sukuna acknowledges him. I think he smiles because, in his mind, one of his students was able to truly beat him, meaning his job as teacher was done.
People always bring up Gojo's last words being out of character but it really isn't. The man has never had a challenge in his life. Then he lost and it was freeing. No one understands Gojo. He was right.
I can see that. I’ve had talks with people about this, and I do realize that he had the weight of the world on his shoulders, and that he probably feels like he can finally relax. It was just a bit jarring the way it came out. It still seems a bit unlike him, but I am stating to (kind of) see why he may have said that.
@AmberAlise I think it’s telling that in his goodbye scene, he is young and among his high school peeps. He was never really happy after high school. And then he fights Sukuna, and he gets that rush, that bit of happiness fighting someone on his level. He can go all out and be selfish. He doesn't have to hold anything back. His little bit of admiration for Sukuna is jarring because people have never seen him praise his opponents. Gojo isn't Sukuna, and he doesn't give his weaker opponents praise. However, Sukuna isn't weak, and he gave Gojo something other people couldn't. So he praises the fight and is honest about it. Sorry for my comment being all over the place, but I'm probably one of the few who liked his death upon first read. Probably because even though he is a fave, so is Sukuna hahaha
I also just caught up! I was saving the chapters because I always lose track of the plot when I read weekly rather than in one go. I got spoiled by Gojo's death so I knew it was coming. As far as I can remember, they didn't help Gojo because they knew he had a trick in his sleeve that he might not be able to pull off if they were there. They wanted him to go all out rather than them be an obstacle to him.

I just mentioned this in another comment, but I think that what bothered me the most about that situation was Kashimo saying that the fight was for Gojo's sake and that it would be wrong to intervene. It made me feel like they would have allowed Gojo to have that fight alone no matter what. However, it probably was safer to keep everyone as healthy as possible for the upcoming battles. It just made me so mad! 😂
@@AmberAlise Yeah, I totally understand your frustration. There's a lot that they could have done to help Gojo but it is a manga troupe of forcing fights into 1v1 especially if it's the strongest characters in the series so I expected it. It is so refreshing though that there's a lot of characters that dies in the series so the stakes are really high unlike most mangas where a lot of deus ex machina happens.
I would recommend watching Aleczandxrs video a couple months ago about Gojos character and the impact that chapter had on him with some of your criticism. Im glad your finally caught up!
Welcome to the weekly JJK experience aka depression. I was waiting for this video. Gege is known for disliking Gojo. He would have been far too strong for culling games and would have solved it far too easy by himself imo. And pretty sure Gojo said all that in the "afterlife" cause he knew Sukuna was not in his strongest form. Hakari is my boy, love him so much. and everybody except Yuta maybe (he said he could occupy Maharaga and the other shikigami by himself), everybody else would just get in the way. And it was a Gojo vs Sukuna fight to find out who is the strongest of all time at the end of the day...

I actually didn't think about what the impact of both of them fighting to see who the strongest was would really entail. I suppose that would make it difficult to prove if it was actually Gojo if others jumped in (although Sukuna did have his own version of help, which angers me 😡😂). That's an excellent point!

I would love to join Sukuna having Megumi's Ten Shadows CT really carried the last part of the fight. Gojo had some help initiating the first the battle and getting the first attack but thats minuscule compared to what Sukuna did with Ten Shadows. But then again we don't really know everything Sukuna has in his arsenal besides him not having his strongest form during the fight. There are alot of theories that Cleave/Dismantle is not everything he has. Like the fire bow thing he did against Jougo in shibuya. And anime recently translating Sukuna's domain expansion as Malevolent Kitchen (Gordon Ramsay been real quiet since that dropped 😂). Maybe he truly didnt use everything he had. And it seems every Jujustsu High student got significantly stronger during this month of in universe time (looking mainly at Yuta and Yuji), so they could have helped. But its anime logic, a duel or w/e. Or Gege just enacting his fantasy of getting rid of Gojo 😈 Are u gonna review the chapters as they come out? Watch the anime? Read other manga?
Im sorry fam but if they jumped in they're probably not even beating Agito. Gojo had to crush Agito completely or it woyld just keep regenerating. Sukuna also having access to ten shadows means he's gonna start sneaking them. He could appear behind, underneath or just anywhere that there are shadows. Not to mention mahoraga can use cleave and dismantle 🤣🤣. If they jump in sukuna's gonna end the series 😅

To understand why gojo says that you need to see what they were fighting for.... Gojo's goal was to bring sukuna in a neardeath state where as sukuna's goal was to not just kill gojo but to also develop his technique For sukuna to develop his technique he need mahoraga and for mahoraga to adopt sukuna need to get hit by gojo technique ( so gojo doing damage to sukuna was in a way helping sukuna) And when he was using magumi's technique he can't used his own technique and will using mahoraga he can't used domain amplification And their many other things that sukuna didn't used So in the afterlife gojo says all that ( I think you should re read the fight than you will understand more clearly)
243: Kenjaku says his will will be inherited/passed on, so I feel like he might have a contingency in Yuji? Also, they can’t help Gojo because he’s strongest alone! He’d have to hold back and limit his actions since his students are so far behind him.
The after death dialogue is a result of a few things i think: 1. The idea of strength and love was the main theme of Gojo, Sukuna, and Kashimo’s fights/characters. Despite Gojo’s care for his students, he’s always felt a disconnect from them and just people in general, due to his power(this is symbolized through his infinity ability). So he was fighting almost with a hope that someone will finally be able to reach him, understand him, enlighten him.. whatever may be. 2. Slight overreaction/over-crediting due to him being defeated for first time since his awakening. 3. Appreciation for the level of planning/knowledge of sorcery that Sukuna had. May not have been admiring his strength in the way that we perceive 4. Gege had to Tbag Gojo before he let ‘em go
That was gojos truest self in the afterlife imo especially cuz he was a teenager when he was happiest and he could t of reacted to that spatial cleave sukuna invaded gojos loneliness and met him and let him free 🙌🏽
I think that I am starting to see that. It’s just really hard for me to think of him saying that stuff about Sukuna, especially with all of the extra assistance Sukuna had. However, after talking to people about it, I am starting to realize that Gojo probably had a lot more stress that he dealt with than I realized, and I find a little bit of comfort knowing that he seems at peace (I’m still angry and hurt though! 😭😂).

I wanted to point out, the Gojo afterlife dialogue where Nanami says he never cared about anything and just wanted to fight is 100% off character and there isnt a chance that it’s supposed to be taken as an accurate description of Gojo. Gojo’s ENITRE character revolves about his care about others despite being the strongest and proving to Geto that he is in fact the strongest BECAUSE he is Gojo Satoru. It seems Gojo was right and no one ever really understood him. Great review.

That line is true, yes gojo did end caring for students( but it all started cuz he wantes strong people like him so he doesn't feel alone) but gojo always fight for himself just like in the toji fight, he does sh*t for fun and cuz he wants to.
Gojo literally got sealed in the first place because he refused to go all out and sacrifice civilians so he can kill the curses. He constantly went against the higher ups and the system so he can save kids that were going to have their youth taken from them, hence his quote "no one is allowed to take the youth away from the young." He saved Okkotsu, he saved Yuji, he raised Megumi after his dad asked him to. Nanami saying "you never cared about protecting anyone" spits in the face of Gojo's entre character and you saying "the line is true" shows you didn't understand anything.@@twinbrosgamersja4919
I doubt Kenjaku is dead. Gege seems to be building him to be the final threat as a oppose to Sukuna. Even though we need to know more about Sukuna's past, there is WAY more to unravel about Kenjaku. Especially since he's technically Yuji's mom. It'd be wild if he transfers his brain to Yuta's body and makes him his new host since he's right there.
I am wondering if he is still alive as well. I just can’t imagine him going out that…easily? - especially after all of this build up and all of the Tengen stuff. Wait - what is this about him being Yugi’s mom?? How did I miss that?? I would be LIVID if he did that!! (even though it would be great for the plot 😂).
@@AmberAlise Kaori Itadori (Yuji's mom) had stitches on her head when it showed her in his dream after Yuta was trying to "execute" him. So it's heavily implied that Yuji's mom was Kenjaku's former host body before moving on to Geto.

So what if Gojo is dead? He will always be one of your favorite characters and that's what matters. Honestly, I never understood the love for Gojo, but that's okay bc I love big bro Choso and a lot of people are like "wtf? That guy?". Different opinions, different people, like the colors. The only death that it felt like a lost to me was Yuki's death, but maybe that was only bc I like the Choso/Yuki duo. If Gege decides to kill Choso, it won't matter bc (to me), he already did a lot, he was there for Yuji when he needed him the most, after Shibuya, his darkest hours. Yeah, it was completely out of character when Gojo turned into a fighting sexual like he's Hisoka and then butt kiss sukuna after he died with no mention of wanting to save Megumi or showed any concern about what might happen to the rest of his students. I agree with this. This is why I wish some of the other sorcerers would have been on standby to help out Gojo. I understand the risks, but it just seems like the risk would have been worth it.

I do understand the criticism behind gojos death, especially with getting more time to spend with him. However, there is a beauty to gojos death that I really appreciated as well. He was the strongest of this era and shouldered the burden to protect Japan from the evils of curses and curse users, while training a generation to not repeat the mistakes of the previous one. It was due to this strength he had that he never felt understood by people, as if a gap existed between him and everyone else. His infinity represents that as well in a metaphorical sense that he can't be touched by anyone. The quote "you can admire a flower and help it bloom, but you cant ask it to understand you" speaks to exactly how he felt as a person. In his death his infinity was finally cut through, and it was in that moment that he finally felt like a normal person. Sukuna being the king of curses says that his infinity is nothing special, while it is definitely in a disrespectful way it also feels like it goes right into the struggle Gojo felt being the strongest. Sukuna gave Gojo the respect he deserved, showing adminiration for the power Gojo brought to this fight. Gojo also being the strongest was cocky and arrogant, which is why I don't blame him for feeling he would win, but it felt fitting for him to lose because of those flaws he had. The weight of the world is finally lifted off his shoulders and hopefully his lessons and goal of fostering the next generation comes to fruition.
In regards to the way Gojo was taken down, it actually goes back to what Angel was saying while the fight was happening, if Sukuna finds a way around infinity Gojo loses. Sukuna planned strategically using Mahoraga to remove Gojos cards until he was finally able to learn from Mahoraga on a way to cut through infinity. Sukuna had the advantage against Gojo in terms of knowledge in cursed energy, so the high IQ play using Maho just further confirmed he is worthy of his title as king of curses. Sorry for the lengthy comment, but happy to see you are along for the ride in this final arc of jjk.

This manga works so well for me because it sets up and makes good on volatile deadly stakes while being able to get SO much done in so little comparative space and time that there's so much left for Gege to surprise me. And I think at every point where I'm like, 'well I wish this had gone on for longer or I wish we'd gotten more time w/ so and so', the story has always made it worth it by letting actual consequences happen and/or surprising me with something I didn't know I'd enjoy more. I'm so along for the ride at this point

I really like the recent chapters. It’s only fitting that Kenjaku was defeated by the most unpredictable ability in the series. The ultimate planner defeated by ultimate unpredictability-poetic.
Gojo vs Sukuna was another interesting fight. I think Sukuna won because he always kept growing and evolving. Even though Sukuna is the strongest sorcerer in history, he still did his best to get even stronger by taking Megumi’s body. Gojo, on the other hand, spend the majority of the series coasting by on talent alone.
Gojo dying was really impactful. Twitter and all social medias were going off on Gege when Gojo died. We were all shocked about how it happened. Bc Gojo is a very popular character, even outside of JJK, Gojo is a very known and popular character and for him to die was shocking and impactful. The only thing that made me feel better was seeing the memes and ppl saying “Gege when I catch you Gege.” I agree that Gojos death felt a little off but I also feel like he might have done that to make it more shocking and maybe to hurt us more lmao. Either way JJK is a great series to me and in my mind Gojo is still alive .

1. Chants boost C&D to 120% which means stronger surehit for MS thus breaking UV before 3min 9s. If chants boost C&D then by default C&D in MS would be stronger as MS would grant this boosted C&D a surehit effect.(chants boost CT/surehit(surehit= your CT), not strenght of the barrier). Heain Sukuna can chants endlessly which means he can match the duration of MS being out.
2. If sukuna cancel out gojo surehit then use Fire arrow, he would break UV on the inside( mahoraga did it with pure physical strength in Chap 229) and it wouldn't last the 3min 9s. Confirming what gojo said about breaking his from the inside.
3. Chap 230 let us know sukuna turn off DA on purpose so he was purposefully taking damage. If it true form sukuna didn't use 10s, sukuna would never turn off DA and with stronger physical stats, he would tank all damage which means gojo wouldn't be able to break MS within 3min 9s by hurting sukuna within the domain. Gojo bearly made it against meguna while going allout( stated in chap 234 & by gojo himself in 236), this is why in chap 228 stats gojo would loss if he continue to stalemate with meguna MS as gojo will run out of options( which gojo did cuz he already used every tool in his kit against sukuna).
3.2 meguna was relative to gojo in h2h( being able to dodge, keepup, block most of gojo h2h). So 4arms sukuna would be equal to gojo in h2h or destroy gojo(gojo would be fighting 2 extra hands that have sukuna fighting experience and not some mindless beasts that can't fight like maho& agito)
4.1 Gojo wouldn't survive chanted or non chanted C&D & fire arrow at same time once UV breaks against true form sukuna. why? simple cuz he already use MAX OUTPUT RCT to minimize normal C&D & he still needed SD to buy time to heal from MS's C&D & even that still wasn't a good option so he used 2nd SD to heal CT instead( used FB later instead), clearly any more pressure added to gojo RCT= death cuz bro can't rct forever even with 6eyes.
5. Gojo would lose every domain clash if sukuna didn't use 10s and return to his true form thus frying gojo brain faster and gojo having even less Rct output to survive MS. Sukuna domain wouldn't break and gojo would die to MS( cuz his rct would be sh*t level thats why he was going to die in chap 230 if sukuna pulled of that last MS).
Gege definitely writes fast paced, and he has said he wants to end the story soon, I like it but its also different from something like Naruto/OnePiece. I do think it conveys how the world doesn't really stop for these characters but I think some more character depth would help. When Gojo was released they had the small training time and we really didn't see too much of them interacting, I think Gege really wanted to line up the death of Gojo with the anime sealing date so that may have affected it. But we waiting for almost 100 chapters to see Gojo fight and now hes gone (praying he comes back lol) but didn't really see him talk to the characters or maybe help them grow before he left. Love the story and think its really well written but just want more! JJK came here fast, went through all the emotions, then will leave. I think it will stand the test of time. I hope someday we could maybe have a spin off elsewhere in the universe
I kinda agree with you, the stuff Gojo was talking about in his post-death scene felt a little out of character. Like, I would've expected him to talk more about leaving things to the next generation rather than talking Sukuna up. But still, I found myself really impacted by his death. I loved Gojo from the moment we met him and I can't believe he's gone.

Gojo got hit with the JJK equivalent of Yami dimension slash (black clover) which cut the space he exists in which rendered his infinity useless. Sukuna took a page out of Mahoraga book since his adaptation doesn’t stop.
I don’t think Kenjaku is dead either, sorcerers are the best con artist.
For me, I personally hated the way Kashimo died as well. It was more like a one shot with his fight with Sukuna rather than him going all out then dying.
Part of the reason why I love jjk so much is because it has a level of realism most other shonen don’t have , this isn’t a Disney movie the power of friendship isn’t going to save u
Megumi says “we aren’t hero’s we’re jujutsu sorcerers” and it’s so refreshing to feel STAKES , like other animes will be waging a “war” and at the end there were 0 casualties and everyone lives happily ever after

Whenever a sorcerer reveals his cursed technique, it becomes far more powerful. Sukuna still never revealed his fire trchnique yet that obliterated jogo and mahoraga when he was at 15 fingers. Imagine the destruction it would've caused if he did. That thing was as powerful as gojo's unlimited hollow purple technique.
What would've happened to gojo if he was caught in Sukuna's domain and Sukuna ended up revealing his fire arrow technique?
Just remember, when inside a domain, infinity is turned off automatically still gojo is vulnerable
CONSIDER THIS!!! Throughout the entire Gojo v Sukuna fight, Sukuna is talking to Gojo. GOJO however, is talking to MEGUMI. He’s satisfied because he finally gets to, in his own way, get through to his student that he IS strong. Why is Gojo so okay with the idea of going all out against Megumi? Because Gojo knows that Megumi can take it and dish it out, even if Megumi doesn’t. Why would Gojo ask SUKUNA if he’s paying attention to Mahoragah’s wheel? He’s asking MEGUMI if he’s paying attention to the wheel. Sukuna taking over Megumi just so happens to be the tragic set up for the fight that Gojo always wanted to happen. Even when he laughs when he thinks of Toji, it’s because of the irony of his son pushing him to those same limits. He’s so playful and silly the entire time, not because he’s out there fighting Sukuna, but because he’s out there fighting Megumi. I think this ties into what the concern over Gojo’s mental state before the fight. He’s caught between his hatred for Sukuna for fucking with TWO of his students now, his desperation to save Megumi, and the twisted joy he feels gains from this fight knowing that his best student (arguably) CAN keep up with him. He’s not alone anymore. Gojo’s Six-Eyes reminds him that he’s fighting Sukuna, and there are times where he loses his cool and “forgets about Megumi”. And in the end, I don’t think Gojo smiles because Sukuna acknowledges him. I think he smiles because, in his mind, one of his students was able to truly beat him, meaning his job as teacher was done.
People always bring up Gojo's last words being out of character but it really isn't. The man has never had a challenge in his life. Then he lost and it was freeing.

I can see that. I’ve had talks with people about this, and I do realize that he had the weight of the world on his shoulders, and that he probably feels like he can finally relax. It was just a bit jarring the way it came out. It still seems a bit unlike him, but I am stating to (kind of) see why he may have said that.
@AmberAlise I think it’s telling that in his goodbye scene, he is young and among his high school peeps. He was never really happy after high school. And then he fights Sukuna, and he gets that rush, that bit of happiness fighting someone on his level. He can go all out and be selfish. He doesn't have to hold anything back.
His little bit of admiration for Sukuna is jarring because people have never seen him praise his opponents. Gojo isn't Sukuna, and he doesn't give his weaker opponents praise. However, Sukuna isn't weak, and he gave Gojo something other people couldn't. So he praises the fight and is honest about it.

I also just caught up! I was saving the chapters because I always lose track of the plot when I read weekly rather than in one go. I got spoiled by Gojo's death so I knew it was coming.
As far as I can remember, they didn't help Gojo because they knew he had a trick in his sleeve that he might not be able to pull off if they were there. They wanted him to go all out rather than them be an obstacle to him.

I just mentioned this in another comment, but I think that what bothered me the most about that situation was Kashimo saying that the fight was for Gojo's sake and that it would be wrong to intervene. It made me feel like they would have allowed Gojo to have that fight alone no matter what. However, it probably was safer to keep everyone as healthy as possible for the upcoming battles. It just made me so mad! 😂
@@AmberAlise Yeah, I totally understand your frustration. There's a lot that they could have done to help Gojo but it is a manga troupe of forcing fights into 1v1 especially if it's the strongest characters in the series so I expected it.
It is so refreshing though that there's a lot of characters that dies in the series so the stakes are really high unlike most mangas where a lot of deus ex machina happens.
I would recommend watching Aleczandxrs video a couple months ago about Gojos character and the impact that chapter had on him with some of your criticism. Im glad your finally caught up!

Welcome to the weekly JJK experience aka depression. I was waiting for this video. Gege is known for disliking Gojo. He would have been far too strong for culling games and would have solved it far too easy by himself imo. And pretty sure Gojo said all that in the "afterlife" cause he knew Sukuna was not in his strongest form. Hakari is my boy, love him so much. and everybody except Yuta maybe (he said he could occupy Maharaga and the other shikigami by himself), everybody else would just get in the way. And it was a Gojo vs Sukuna fight to find out who is the strongest of all time at the end of the day...

I actually didn't think about what the impact of both of them fighting to see who the strongest was would really entail. I suppose that would make it difficult to prove if it was actually Gojo if others jumped in (although Sukuna did have his own version of help, which angers me 😡😂). That's an excellent point!

Sukuna having Megumi's Ten Shadows CT really carried the last part of the fight. Gojo had some help initiating the first the battle and getting the first attack but thats minuscule compared to what Sukuna did with Ten Shadows. But then again we don't really know everything Sukuna has in his arsenal besides him not having his strongest form during the fight. There are alot of theories that Cleave/Dismantle is not everything he has. Like the fire bow thing he did against Jougo in shibuya. And anime recently translating Sukuna's domain expansion as Malevolent Kitchen (Gordon Ramsay been real quiet since that dropped 😂). Maybe he truly didnt use everything he had. And it seems every Jujustsu High student got significantly stronger during this month of in universe time (looking mainly at Yuta and Yuji), so they could have helped. But its anime logic, a duel or w/e. Or Gege just enacting his fantasy of getting rid of Gojo 😈

Sukuna also having access to ten shadows means he's gonna start sneaking them. He could appear behind, underneath or just anywhere that there are shadows. Not to mention mahoraga can use cleave and dismantle 🤣🤣. If they jump in sukuna's gonna end the series 😅

To understand why gojo says that you need to see what they were fighting for....
Gojo's goal was to bring sukuna in a neardeath state where as sukuna's goal was to not just kill gojo but to also develop his technique
For sukuna to develop his technique he need mahoraga and for mahoraga to adopt sukuna need to get hit by gojo technique ( so gojo doing damage to sukuna was in a way helping sukuna)
And when he was using magumi's technique he can't used his own technique and will using mahoraga he can't used domain amplification
And their many other things that sukuna didn't used
So in the afterlife gojo says all that ( I think you should re read the fight than you will understand more clearly)

Also, they can’t help Gojo because he’s strongest alone! He’d have to hold back and limit his actions since his students are so far behind him.
They would have slowed jojo down and made him worry about him and not have 100% focus on sakuna
The after death dialogue is a result of a few things i think:
1. The idea of strength and love was the main theme of Gojo, Sukuna, and Kashimo’s fights/characters. Despite Gojo’s care for his students, he’s always felt a disconnect from them and just people in general, due to his power(this is symbolized through his infinity ability). So he was fighting almost with a hope that someone will finally be able to reach him, understand him, enlighten him.. whatever may be.
2. Slight overreaction/over-crediting due to him being defeated for first time since his awakening.
3. Appreciation for the level of planning/knowledge of sorcery that Sukuna had. May not have been admiring his strength in the way that we perceive
4. Gege had to Tbag Gojo before he let ‘em go

That was gojos truest self in the afterlife imo especially cuz he was a teenager when he was happiest and he could t of reacted to that spatial cleave sukuna invaded gojos loneliness and met him and let him free 🙌🏽
I think that I am starting to see that. It’s just really hard for me to think of him saying that stuff about Sukuna, especially with all of the extra assistance Sukuna had. However, after talking to people about it, I am starting to realize that Gojo probably had a lot more stress that he dealt with than I realized, and I find a little bit of comfort knowing that he seems at peace (I’m still angry and hurt though! 😭😂).

Watching a beautiful women such as yourself review in depth my favorite manga series was a turn on I didn't know I had.
I wanted to point out, the Gojo afterlife dialogue where Nanami says he never cared about anything and just wanted to fight is 100% off character and there isnt a chance that it’s supposed to be taken as an accurate description of Gojo. Gojo’s ENITRE character revolves about his care about others despite being the strongest and proving to Geto that he is in fact the strongest BECAUSE he is Gojo Satoru. It seems Gojo was right and no one ever really understood him. Great review.

That line is true, yes gojo did end caring for students( but it all started cuz he wantes strong people like him so he doesn't feel alone) but gojo always fight for himself just like in the toji fight, he does sh*t for fun and cuz he wants to.
Gojo literally got sealed in the first place because he refused to go all out and sacrifice civilians so he can kill the curses. He constantly went against the higher ups and the system so he can save kids that were going to have their youth taken from them, hence his quote "no one is allowed to take the youth away from the young." He saved Okkotsu, he saved Yuji, he raised Megumi after his dad asked him to. Nanami saying "you never cared about protecting anyone" spits in the face of Gojo's entre character and you saying "the line is true" shows you didn't understand anything.@@twinbrosgamersja4919
I doubt Kenjaku is dead. Gege seems to be building him to be the final threat as a oppose to Sukuna. Even though we need to know more about Sukuna's past, there is WAY more to unravel about Kenjaku. Especially since he's technically Yuji's mom.

@@AmberAlise Kaori Itadori (Yuji's mom) had stitches on her head when it showed her in his dream after Yuta was trying to "execute" him. So it's heavily implied that Yuji's mom was Kenjaku's former host body before moving on to Geto.

So what if Gojo is dead? He will always be one of your favorite characters and that's what matters. Honestly, I never understood the love for Gojo, but that's okay bc I love big bro Choso and a lot of people are like "wtf? That guy?". Different opinions, different people, like the colors. The only death that it felt like a lost to me was Yuki's death, but maybe that was only bc I like the Choso/Yuki duo. If Gege decides to kill Choso, it won't matter bc (to me), he already did a lot, he was there for Yuji when he needed him the most, after Shibuya, his darkest hours.

4.1 Gojo wouldn't survive chanted or non chanted C&D & fire arrow at same time once UV breaks against true form sukuna. why? simple cuz he already use MAX OUTPUT RCT to minimize normal C&D & he still needed SD to buy time to heal from MS's C&D & even that still wasn't a good option so he used 2nd SD to heal CT instead( used FB later instead), clearly any more pressure added to gojo RCT= death cuz bro can't rct forever even with 6eyes.
5. Gojo would lose every domain clash if sukuna didn't use 10s and return to his true form thus frying gojo brain faster and gojo having even less Rct output to survive MS. Sukuna domain wouldn't break and gojo would die to MS( cuz his rct would be sh*t level thats why he was going to die in chap 230 if sukuna pulled of that last MS).

I agree with this. This is why I wish some of the other sorcerers would have been on standby to help out Gojo. I understand the risks, but it just seems like the risk would have been worth it.
