      It will bloom again ❤. What they love is the water after it cools from when you boil eggs. Sense you are trendy you can buy these clay balls also they sell at orchid flower shops & put it in a see through pot or vase. It could go in your kitchen window. The way I keep plants beside cactuses alive is unfinished water bottles people leave around lol. I stick butterfly 🦋 pins on them while they are not in bloom phase & they look like a flower from far away still :). Good declutter you got rid of alot :). Thanks for sharing 💕

    Hi Carla
    The orchid is not dead - as long as the leaves are green it's still alive and will bloom again. It takes a while - but you will be rewarded with even more of the beautiful flowers. I've had orchids for more than ten years...

    I actually got up at ~minute 3 and started decluttering.
    I didn't have the mental capacity for anything in the last 3 months, so now as things have settled again, your video got me moving.
    Decluttering does give me a peace of mind and I love taking inventory of my stuff (I'm the woman who rotates the plates from the bottom of the pile to the top for even usage 😅).
    Today I decluttered some clothes and unraveled some paper piles. One day I'll recieve everything digitally in this paper loving country of Germany and there will be no more freaking folders of paper (except the diplomas, certifications...)

    Like everyone else has said the orchid isn’t dead, it’s just in a different part of its life cycle. I’m in the process of painting different rooms in my house now that our youngest has moved into her own apartment after graduating from her Masters program & getting a new job. I was able to get rid of A LOT of stuff by giving it to my daughter! Now it’s reusing what we have & redecorating after the painting.

    • @moongirl8807
      @moongirl8807 Год назад +1

      The irony is, probably everyone is thinking like that. I don't know what video it was but the Minimal Mom talked about this a lot. First of all, if the things just lay around and cause you so much trouble (because everytime you see them you dislike them more and more bc you feel like you can't let go), that's a good reason to let go. The items themselves won't be mad at you. Other than that, if your friends ask you later about the present (which has never ever happened to me), might just be honest that it didn't work for you.
      Again I don't remember a lot so probably refer to the Minimal Mom for better advice but one thing I do remember is that you should "set boundaries", ie make your preferences clear to friends and family if you really want less stuff. Also even if you like your stuff, some people just gift you whatever bc THEY TOO don't know what to give you (for example I had to limit the amount of body lotion I get gifted, it seems to be a preferred gift for young women but I don't ever use it and had like 5 bottles sitting around, big ones too of course). So if you are clear about what you actually want and need, it's beneficial to both sides.
      I always dread gift shopping bc in the end it's just for the short moment of unwrapping and praying they like whatever trash I found. Sure, some people don't learn and will insist on buying you stuff but most will be glad that they know what exactly to get you. Also might rethink physical gifts in general, if you don't need them you can ask for activities etc.

    • @TM_VI
      @TM_VI Год назад

      Donating a gift can feel a bit like a 'betrayal' almost. But if you're the kind of person who worries about this, that means you care about people. Which is what matters, not whether you're holding onto a bracelet you're never going to wear. One thing I keep for sentimental sake are postcards, they don't take too much space. With other things, I wouldn't feel too guilty.

    I managed to talk my husband into ordering up a larger trash can. Generally we don't have that much house trash per say but it seems like we are backed up with garage stuff.. or packaging that takes forever to work into a small can. In just the last month we got rid of a ton of old carpeting and riff raff around the garage. Each week I get so excited for an empty trash can so we can fill up more stuff. You know you're getting older when getting a larger trash bin is cause for celebration :)

I like putting not only a time limit on it but also a number of items as your goal. I think that's helpful.

  • @carolann811
    @carolann811 Год назад +1

    Did this while the video was playing.
    I'm in the middle of packing for a cross-country move in the near future. Without leaving my desk I threw away 10 things. One tour through the kitchen and the downstairs netted more than 15 other items. There was a couple cheat items though: someone gave my son 'presents' for me, some random stuff I don't need. This video was the little push I needed to toss those.
    It amazes me how there is always something else that needs to go. I have a sense when I unpack on the other end I'm going to end up tossing/donating a bunch of stuff. Makes me wonder just how much stuff we really need in life.

    Here in the uk we have to separate our broken electrical goods for recycling as they are broken down. The clothes that are ripped can still be recycled as it goes to a shredder where it is woven into new materials such as wool. Even shoes can be broken down and melted into new materials. The charity shops get money per tonnage of waste that they can’t use. It’s so different from country to country xx

    I hope the pillow goes to an animal shelter! They are always looking for used pillows, blankets, etc. since it's too expensive for them to purchase. Regardless, loved this declutter, needed this inspiration today!

    I love this. I did this with my towels and linen the other day and donated to the local animal shelter. Felt so good! 16:21

    I did something like this this weekend. It’s helpful because I think less about the item and more about reaching the goal of number of items I want to get rid of

    Love your videos. being a volunteer at a thrift store, I would suggest that you quickly take a felt pen and write on the towel wrapped knife that there is a knife in there. 😇

    'these were maybes last time' that really opened a flow state for me o just keep the process going

      Yeah, a lot of maybes eventually turn into no’s and it just takes time. I know I still have stuff in here that I’m not ready to let go of but will end up out of this house 😅

    oh no 😢 the orchid is fine. This plant gets most energy from its roots and they should be exposed to sunlight. This plant drives best when the flowerpot is transparent (glas). Thanks for your declutter motivation Carla, love your content 😘

    Hey Carla, great motivational video. Today I have managed to get rid of the old trampoline and garden waste, cut the grass do a load of washing and make some plans for the week ahead. This time of year is definitely high energy time for me I just wish the bloody sciatica I’ve had since November would do one and jog on. Tomorrow I will bag up 25 items and take to donate on my way to trim a friends hair. Peace and love to you gorgeous and your hair looks fab too many blessings for the week ahead ☮️💜
