But the show really makes you hate him. Howard is definitely better person than any of the character on the show. But we root for protagonists, and those are the worse. The criminals. Howard might be a jerk, but not Jimmy or Kim or the Salamancas.
Out of all the characters in the breaking bad universe Howard has gotten the worse treatment by far. Has to deal with Chuck's suicide on top of his own growing mental set backs and life issues. He tried to do right by jimmy and Kim but they ruined his reputation out of spite. He then gets capped, buried under a meth lab next to his killer and his whole reputation will now be seen in a similar vein as Chuck but even worse. He wasn't a saint and had a few petty moments of his own but he was a good man trying to make due with his life, most importantly he was never linked or involved in "the game".
@@David-dg9dn And? It's about who got the worst treatment in the BB-world and Jesse's suffered both more physically and mentally than Howard. It's been a while for many but I recently rewatched BB between the last 2 BCS eps and Jesse really went through most hardships of all characters. Beeing manipulated by both Walt and Gus all the time, waking up next to his dead gf which Walt let die, getting beat up by Tuco and Hank, seeing the thing with the methhead family where the man's head gets crushed by an ATM and the neglected kid, living in a literal hole, chained up like a dog, being tortured and forced to cook and then forced to see how Todd executes Brock's mom... Idk man the little gaslighting Jimmy and Kim did to Howard is really dwarfed in comparison. Not saying Howard was done dirty but there's worse in BBm
@@knight_lautrec_of_carim These are some great points, and this internet stranger agrees with you. I'd also want to add that Howard had even had this sort of mentally untouchable mentality to him, having a failed marriage, taking accountability for Chuck's suicide, suffering antics from Jimmy and Kimmy and having his name slandered -- he still was strong even in his final moments. Jesse was like a dog who kept being kicked when he was down. You see that everytime he relapsed back into drugs, it's because of some heavy shit. He's about to kill Gus' two gangbangers for killing a kid? He takes drugs to "improve his reaction timing"/better cope. Walt killed two gangbangers for him? Drugs to handle it. Gale? Drugs to handle it. And he was called a druggie at every turn by Walt or even Gus. But no. He's not a "druggie". He was someone who was struggling to keep his humanity, someone who was desperate to retain his sense of self after committing disgusting crimes. He's someone with a good heart dying to keep it. Of course, he did some terrible things but he never wanted to get far in the industry, he was blackmailed into it by Walt. I can say without a doubt that he wouldn't have been nearly as violent as an individual agent. Jesse was just not ready to get that far into the criminal world and he damn well knew it, that's why he needed to be blackmailed to get further in the criminal underworld. Also.. I apologize for making this a contest between who suffered more between the two, but I think it's just the nature of the discussion. It's disgusting that Howard's superior mental health puts him in a less sympathetic light here, but I guess it is what it is.
@@knight_lautrec_of_carim I'd say someone who gets the worse treatment depends on how "innocent" or involved they were to begin with. Jesse did have to go through the worse events but he was already in the game and some those events are linked to his own poor decisions (granted, don't think he could've predicted what would happen). Otherwise you are right in terms of who got abused more Maybe I should've said who got dealt the worse hand; by that logic then even supporting characters like Walt Jr. and Marie got dealt a bad hand as they weren't in the game and now they have to live with a lifetime of trauma.
Really loving this Better Call Saul content. Such a great and underrated show. Keep it coming! I personally would love weekly reviews if you're up for it :)
The people who watch Better Call Saul first before Breaking Bad will have such an amazing experience. My mom for example, doesn't like Breaking Bad because of her perceived notion that it's violent. But I get to tell her, "Better Call Saul" is more like Law and Order, just lawyer stuff hahaha!
The show is the best and I want to binge it, yet can't wait month till finale to watch all of it. At least I have binged first 3 seasons. And sure those seasons are less cartel and more corporate/juridical but I did like that aspect. I am sad for Howard. During first part of this season I caught myself hating Howard, because he is portrayed as an antagonist. But he might be a jerk at times, but he doesn't deserve all of this. And I was sad for him in the end. Kim.... I wanted her to support Jimmy. I think it is vital for a family to support each other. But seeing her going beyond Jimmy level of scheming... Jimmy or should I say Saul, just corrupts peoples minds , or leave them dead. In this show and in BB.
That episode was so good. Unfortunately I saw one picture with the actor that played Howard, he had red hair. So I kinda expected that this will happen, but not that early in the season. Still hoping the series will keep its quality until the finale.
This is Why i said Lalo is a top tier Villan, just by pure presence makes you know that shit is gonna happen.... am i allowed to recommend another show since this one is coming to an end.... its called "Succession"
The first 8 episodes this season jimmy is gone. He takes complete back seat to saul goodman. A few times saul genuinely asks Kim " we"re not actually doing this...we're not still doing this right?" But kim would say jump and saul says how high. The reversal from kim in episode 9 on her motivations killed me inside. Both characters are fighting those different sides of themselves...I really think we lost Jimmy for good after the way he felt with dealing with his brothers death. And he only felt a little like his old self his mail room charlie hustle good guy self with Kim. But it went too far they fed their own demons, kim fights with herself while jimmy relinquishes absolutely everything from his old life just to cope, I bet the millions of dollars help. (I need to make my own essay) Kim has to show up in last 3 ep. Im more excited to see her than any walt or jessie cameo P.S do you notice how kim always calls Saul and corrects people who say 'Jimmy During episode 7-8 she only calls him Jimmy😭 She needs jimmy and he is gone. You can see it the same way he felt with chuck's death emotionally is the same with howard
It makes no sense. Who goes around shooting strangers they just met in the head? Something I am missing is why Jimmy and Kim were supposed to be so scared of him and what reason he thought he had to abuse them. I know Jimmy kept the ambush a secret to protect mMike, but how much of that could Lalo ever figure out and be sure of? Especially after the persuasive lecture Kim gave him?
I was already disliking Jimmy and kim cause i honestly couldn't think why they hated howard this much, it when from petty to sick twisted behaviour, they are both shitty people. Jimmy is kinda like always has been but kim alternates between doing the pro bono work and helping the poor/minorities and investing so much time and energy in this complex schemes, she is sicker than jimmy IMO
Agreed, at least 'Saul' doesn't hide what he is. Kim is beyond self-righteous and considers herself a good person, talk about delusion bordering on mental illness. It's even worse after the episode that aired tonight.
the episode after this one was very weak, especially after such a strong episode. The showdown was anticlimactic and the writing had some really, really thin foundations at time. It's probably my most disliked ep after the one I almost like the most.
Yeah that episode I like and dislike at the same time. It's great don't get me wrong, but I definitely think it could have been better. Thankfully the episode that aired tonight was a pick step up. Especially those last 10 minutes... My goodness what a fantastic scene! Now that is probably a top 3 episode for me.
I'm really not sure how episode 8 surprises you in its plot convenience. There has been plot convenience like this throughout both Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad.
@@antiksur8883 I wasn't really surprised, but I think the 6 week wait for the episode really hurt the episode imo. It definitely was an episode that should have aired a week after Lalo popped Howard in the head.

I've been watching Saul since 2015. Every finale I'd think "I have to wait ANOTHER YEAR for more?!" And now it's dawned on me there won't be more
