I asked the ultrasound technician to check under my arms and she said it was against protocol. She said the mammogram does that.

I recently had a mastectomy to my left breast. I watched all of your videos and found them so informative. I was having some tenderness under my left arm and asked for an ultrasound. Nothing was found during the ultrasound. During surgery two nodes were found to have cancer. The surgeon removed 10 more nodes and they were found to be cancer free. I am a bit frustrated as I feel this was a bit unnecessary to remove so many. Is it typical to remove that many nodes?

I was told I have breast cancer after having a biopsy of axillary lymph nodes. However they can’t find cancer in my breast. Only thing being done is I am on Letrozole which is shrinking the lymph node

Hi Dr Williams. Your videos are great source of information. My mom has been diagnosed with Breast Cancer and the PET scan shows the axillary level 1 lymph nodes have 2 mm FDG and Non FDG 3mm in Level 2. Question is would the doctor recommend removing all axillary lymph nodes or he can still do Sentinel lymph nodes and check for cancer and remove only the lymph nodes that has cancer and we do radiation and Hormonal therapy postsurgery. She is 71 and I want to avoid her the chance of developing lymphadema.

Woodmill Canada - Thank you for bring up this particular issue with the lymph nodes. I am at the same age of your mom and was just diagnosed with breast cancer. I am very concerned with having too many axillary lymph nodes removed unnecessarily causing lymphadema to be developed. How did you mom come out of her surgery? I hope she is doing fine now. She is very lucky to have you looking out for her.

    • @woodmillcanada1870
      @woodmillcanada1870 2 года назад +1

@@theresa94010 This will be a long reply because I want you to be better so read along. First of all I'd like to tell you with all honesty that please stop worrying and stressing about this. Do what is needed which is the usual doctor advice but do no stress on anything. You are perfectly fine and whatever you have with the right treatment you'll be good in no time so have that thought that you are fine and you will be fine, that's the first thing you gotta do. Stress will only make it worse.
Now my mom was not in favor of Mastectomy and so she underwent Hormonal therapy with Fulvestrant shot every month and the tumor shrank and they did this so she didn't had to go through Mastectomy. Now while after the Hormonal therapy for couple months even though tumor shrink but it did spread to the lymph nodes and lymph nodes is like an entry to the highway for the rest of the body.
Initially when she was diagnosed we delayed the treatment and we were offered lumpectomy with radiation without touching lymph nodes as it didn't spread but later even after Hormonal therapy it did spread to the lymph nodes and even though I fought with the doctor after the Hormonal therapy to go with Sentinel lymph nodes and lumpectomy, he did not agreed and it was the right decision I think now because out of 24 lymph nodes she had 8 positive lymph nodes and Sentinel sometimes give false negative report.
Lesson no 1 - If the cancer is early stages and you can avoid lymph nodes and is recommended by doctor, then dont delay, get your surgery done right away followed by radiation and chemo if needed.
Lesson 2 - When we were delayed we thought Sentinel ( couple lymph nodes removal ) will do the job but it's not ideal and you don't want to be called up again by the doctor for recurrence.
Just follow along the doctor but do take advice from a couple doctors before finalizing the treatment options.
Now if you have to go through axillary like my mom did, do not stress about Lymphadema. As long as you do regular exercises for your hand the fluid won't build up and you'll be fine. But you have to be rigorous in your exercise.
Now I'm not a doctor and I wouldn't intervene in anything they say and I would recommend you to follow your doctor along but holistic approach is the best and it should be in conjunction with your treatment. What do I mean by that
      Mental physical and emotional wellbeing
      Mental and emotional wellbeing
      1. Think positive and repeat after me that you're fine and you will be fine. God is with you
      2. Do some charity. Give to needy. Anything you can. Donation and charity releases some kind of hormones that helps you someway. This is scientifically proven. So do that whenever you get a chance.
      3. Be happy. Smile as often as you can and spread happiness. So much so that forget about the fact that you have anything.
      Physical wellbeing
      1. Get morning sunlight for an hour a day atleast. That will fight off your disease like anything.
      2. Do atleast half an hour of exercise
      3. Start doing some breathing exercises - Yoga 🧘‍♀️ you can see online like Pranayam. Oxygen kills cancer cells
      Now comes the right food.
      Avoid all junk food
Avoid Sugar at all cost. It's poison
No tea no caffeine and no meat products
      Have Green tea ( 2 a day )
      Have lemon water ( 2 a day )
Have Wheatgrass and Neem Giloy ( Works wonders ) - Google it. It's hard to find.
Have Apricot seeds if you can
Drink Alkaline water only. Not RO
Have 2 servings of fruits and 2 servings of vegetables a day
      Brocolli, tomatoes, Aspharagus.
If you can find someone near you where you can get high dose of Vitamin C injections. Those works wonders too
Some have recommended that weed oil works good too. I'm not top sure on that.
Please follow this and Don't worry you're like my mother and Ill pray to lord that you get well soon 💗 love always.

During my diagnostic mammogram and ultra sound, I asked the ultra sound tech to check my lymph node because it had been hurting.for a month +. My lymph node hurting is what made me find the large lump and made me make an appointment ASAP. I was was rubbing it with with my index and middle finger and then felt the mass in my breast. I say mass because I am an AA cup and it felt hard.
