I really like this setup! The solarized color scheme actually looks a bit weird, but after a couple of minutes you get used to it and it is very relaxing for the eyes. The workflow is very good and I also LOVE how your keyboard sounds

I've tried OpenBSD as my daily driver, and even though it looks promising it lacks some features that are crucial for my workflow. I do use OpenBSD on my server though.

And then modified the kbd map to set layout in TTY. This is very cumbersome and requires changes to the configuration file for some individual needs. You can solve this with just one line of commands by "setkeycodes" without modifying the config file. In the other hand. I used virtual box to run win10. VBox may got a esc from kernel and a capslock from X11(Or just the opposite).You only pressed one key but they all worked. Why are all my favorite *nix youtubers also linguists? iBSD and Luke Smith both have post graduate degrees in linguistics, and now I find out you're studying linguistics, what are the odds. Do you use LaTeX? Maybe that has something to do with it since formatting interlinear glosses in a wysiwyg editor sounds like hell.
I'm someone's favorite youtuber, yay! As for linguistics, I haven't had to deal with interlinear glosses yet (I'm only doing my bachelor degree), but I use LaTeX for pretty much all of my reports and papers. Even though it's probably an overkill :D

Комптон сглаживает ситуацию, но все равно есть эти штуки при закрытии. Из-за этого пришлось перейти на sway (wayland). Тут вообще всё плавно в этом плане, но фаерфокс скролит с фризами, сегодня попробовал отрендерить видос в kdenlive так это жесть - при проведении мышкой на другую часть интерфейса всё мигает, бывает видео в превью останавливается и тд. но это пох, я рендерю 1 раз в год, а вот то, что рандомные крашы системы (внезапно всё вылетает в TTY и мигает нижнее подчеркивание в левом правом углу) при надавливании на ноут или что-то такое это очень странно, ведь я сейчас пишу с винды и надавливаю и нихера, на i3 тоже вроде бы такого не было, только на sway такое уже много раз было. Охх, не знаю что делать, пробовать что-то другое нежели i3 или что... а ведь wayland мне понравился, да и время на настройку waybar'а и остальных аналогов для вяленого потратил немало.. вот если бы не те glitches, то до сих пор бы сидел на i3, но я уже всё перепробовал если что, то thinkpad t480s i7-8550

You haven't tried gruvbox right? I use Gruvbox Dark on my setup. its pretty gud. Its pretty relaxing for my eyes, its functional and is eyecandy, something I find hard to achieve with solarized (the aesthetic I mean) You should try it Oh yeah also I'm a i3 virgin, but got the fibonnacci effect thingy everyone has on the other wms :D
yo i just fucked up my terminal by doing --color=auto -FHh how can i undo that without having to add an alias in my bashrc ? i dont want keep running with alias ls ="ls --color" how can i get my dafault back without the alias bro ?
It's actually the other way around, the background color of inactive terminal becomes darker :) Just put inactive-dim = 0.1; in your compton.conf (you can change the value to your liking, the more it is, the darker inactive windows will be.
Yeah, it's definitely not "install and forget" kind of situation, you'll need to learn about USE-flags and the way portage works in general. And if you don't update your system for long enough, prepare for a dependency hell.

Amazing. People use terminal multiplexers in tiling window managers. You maybe can try to skip the "i3wm" part... and directly use tmux ...e.g. github.com/gpakosz/.tmux
At the time of filming the video I used it because I couldn't figure out how to patch st for scrollback support. But thanks for the link, it seems like a pretty good starting point to learn how to use tmux the way it's actually supposed to be used :D

You can use "setkyecodes" to swap keyboard layout. It works on both TTY and X11.You can write it in systemd service to make it work when booting.
