Btw -- I'm hosting a three day virtual workshop in a few weeks (July 12-14) to help artists write a custom business plan! If you've been feeling overwhelmed at the thought of getting started this event could be for you: www.kelseyrodriguez.com/the-artists-business-blueprint
You can never have too many books! I can't wait for the day when I can have my own little library in my home. It's going to be so cozy and magical. ❤️📚
As an avid book collector, it was fun seeing your collection! I also appreciate encouraging the alternative way to purchase to support independent businesses!! hope to see another video of added books in the coming years~
Love this video! Personally learned more from Artists Master Series Color and Light than in 4 years of college. They hold so much precious knowledge that’s really broken down wisely and articulate that it’s easier to comprehend the topics we covered in detail. Thank you so much for sharing all of these gems, always on the look out for more books as the Draftsmen podcast ended and keeping a list of resources has always been fun journey to grow as an artist. Can’t stress this enough to people how important they are. Just wish I could absorb them more in less time it usually takes me to go through them.
I’m gonna go to the thrift store with 40 dollars and get like 30 books they’re so cheap!!! Not many art books but inspiration can be sourced from anywhere even fiction books. I found this story about a serial killer in Sweden and I looked it up only to find that it was really famous in 2016 or something and I had never heard of it. Truly books are such a good source of inspiration especially because I am also a writer. I also want to buy more painting specific books and maybe some detailed autobiographies of my favourite artists and the famous ones like Pablo Picasso. I also want to some art books of specifically baroque and renaissance art. It’s so beautiful. I genuinely find so many hidden gems in stores like that. I like to go the library and borrow but it is more annoying because I can’t keep them or buy them.
0:02 I don’t know if I agree with this statement. No course, art supply, tutorial, or book will “change everything” for anyone’s art because ultimately what matters is putting in the work and actually learning art by practice. Sure sometimes tutorials and courses can provide good drawings methods and exercises but also falling into a trap of constantly looking for that one thing (that usually costs money) that will push your skills to the next level is totally unrealistic and gives a false sense of achievement. That said I do love art books because most of them are relatively affordable compared to online courses 😂
"Painting should be poetry, not realism!!!?" I don't know if you mentioned this before but the idea is GREAT. going to write this down somewhere so I can revisit and incorporate into my mindset when creating 🫧
I restarted buying artbooks again and it is indeed a problem 🤣 I recently got 2 different art books of World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King 😅 It looks a little funny next to my Disney Pocahontas art book 😅

I have waaay too many art books! My problem really becomes apparent when it comes to moving time... which I've had to do 6 times 😓
I restarted buying artbooks again and it is indeed a problem 🤣 I recently got 2 different art books of World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King 😅 It looks a little funny next to my Disney Pocahontas art book 😅
i love your videos
So I have to ask, how many books do you have in your collection? lol I love when artist showcase their library
I think I've got around 50 ish total in my studio?
May I ask how can I get the Drawing Manual by Glenn Vilppu, NMA press? I only find the one published in 1997 by Vilppu Studio
It might have been a limited edition! I would look on EBay or on New Master’s Academy’s website
👏
The vilppu books are borderline impossible to get in my experience
what’s the first book
you mention?
American Tonalism by David A Cleveland! Linked in the description
❤😊
If you ever want to get more “magical” maybe you want to take a peek at The Brandywine School.
Do you know what else is massive?
Girl I thought you were naked in that thumbnail for a hot second lol!
Can u please put Arabic translate?
