Can use more puppy tips/training. I have a 14 week havanese named Nova! Cant socialize w/other dogs till fully vaccinated @ 16 wks. My issues are trying to get her to like her penned area (vs free on couch), crate training during day in LR so I can run on brief errands 1 hr or less. She cries if i am out of her sight. I WFH, so am around 24/7. We go to bed @ same time (she in crate, me sleeping on floor near crate so she doesnt cry) & she sleeps thru night 10pm-5 or 6am👍. I take her potty right away & we stay awake (I live in 2nd floor unit, so have to throw on shoes, coat, her collar & race down 20 steps carrying her to grass patch out back (in about 60 secs). Trying to potty train outdoors (she tears pee pads apart), take her out every 2 hrs when awake but she has no tell😩. She eats kibble 1 kernal @ a time (3 hrs = 1/4cup), so cant base on feeding. Also having problems w/ her walking on leash (not following, pulling). Separation anxiety is a big problem/puzzle for me. How did you get yr pup to like brushing? My Nova runs away! I have a shorkie and I would say that shorkies are less grooming maintenance. I brush out my dog every other day because she has dry skin and I want to distribute the oils evenly but you would only need to brush them out like once or twice a week. With a yorkie you NEED to brush them out every single day and give them baths and trims regularly. I take my shorkie to the groomers every 4-6 months and do a trim myself every two weeks. Also shorkies only need a bath every 2-3 months. Shorkies and Yorkers are “predators” meaning that they were designed to hunt rodents so if your bunny Is below 9lbs I wouldn’t recommend having them near each other because a shorkie or a yorkie may start to play with them or hurt them.
Also a shorkie is a very playful breed so if you Would want to get one they would need a lot of training to know not to play with your bunny, this is because a shorkie could potentially hurt a bunny.
Shorkies are also a lot faster and more active than a yorkie. This is because shih tzu are sports dogs. Anyway I hope this helps you out! If you have any others questions pls ask.
