  • So we decided to do an experiment this week, and let Christian post his first practice edit.. of course with a few corrections from el Capitan, but still very raw nonetheless.
    It was a great day on the water actually, and we spent a bit of time over at the Cove anchorage before the weather started to change again.. but in this episode you'll see some of the ups and downs of daily life aboard, and how we deal with things when the weather changes.. in addition to how our new Solar Sunshade with BougeRV CIGS solar panels handled its first real challenge from wind and weather!
    Enjoy the episode, and we'll see you in the next one!
    Cheers,
    Capitan Rick, Maddy, and Ricci

    That was the most impressive display of flexible solar panels I've seen to date. Not only the adhesive but being able to survive being twisted and flexed the way they were.
    Nice job on the edit by the way.

    What a beautiful anchorage! The water is magnificent! I thought the video was well paced and enjoyable- of course it was great to see you and your present life. Keep it interesting and keep finding the things that are unique and informative. Really liked seeing the application of the solar shade, maybe something Nate can consider for his boat. Glad to hear its so durable and can generate 2 kw. Really enjoy your postings.

    I don’t mind black smoke when it means horsepower and torque however in your case I wouldn’t like it either. In your case it wasn’t able to burn the fuel off fully during the combustion cycle due to improper lack of oxygen obviously caused by your clogged air filter. Pretty good idea going to something more universal easier to find as well as much cheaper. Glad to see you all doing well. Best wishes from Texas!

    Good job on the editing. I liked the pacing. too many editors in my opinion use too short of clips and dont hold the shot long enough. This video was so much more enjoyable to watch because the shots were not too short or too long. I think you nailed it. You kept the action moving, but it wasn't herky jerky. I do'n't know who all has been running the camera but a lot of the shots were aimed too low cutting off peoples heads or cutting off the tops of other boats. I enjoyed the still shot in the middle of Ricci. though it could have been held for maybe 3 more seconds. Just my opinion. I still think you did a good job. Last thought. Christian.. you seem like a good guy. Please lose the click click hand signs.. If you are going to do it, then only once per video. This is a sailing channel. this isn't hip hop. I would bet the ladies would prefer just a calm shot of you enjoying yourself and if doing the closing, then something simple. a hand wave. a cheers with a drink.. something like that. Just my opinion. everyone likes different things so please dont take this too harshly. I really did enjoy the video and the water was gorgeous. I'm so jealous. It has been so long since I have been to the Caribbean. Yall are living the life. Cheers mate !

    It looks like your RPM was 1600. If that was full throttle you may have too much prop pitch. Larger Beta's list 2800 as max RPM so 80% of that for max cruise is 2240. That's a big source of black smoke.

    • @SailingSophisticatedLady
      @SailingSophisticatedLady  8 месяцев назад +1

      That's not full, but yes we are over-propped due to the new engine has a different gear ratio on the new transmission.. I've just been in touch with Brunton Propellors about the problem and they are working on getting us some new blades for the prop with the proper pitch to solve the problem.

  • @5ringsaudits

    I don't understand how that filter can be clogged up and so dirty already? Also, you can't wash the existing filter? My personal opinion is don't go with K&N, you have to spray oil on them and if the existing one got so clogged up, wait until you see how fast those get clogged. They are designed to keep you having to get new one's.

    • @SailingSophisticatedLady
      @SailingSophisticatedLady  8 месяцев назад +2

      We figured out the filter was plugged because of fine particles from the alternator belts.. we just received our new K&N filter and it is a permanent filter meant to be taken out and washed as necessary, then put back in service.. big improvement!
