5 albums selling over 11 million units in US and Canada alone, in constant rotation for years on Mtv and radio, and Hall of Famers is underrated? What does one need to do to get rated anyway? 😁
Mike Reno(the singer) does a duet with Ann Wilson(the singer from Heart) called Almost Paradise. A great power ballad for the movie Footloose. Check it out!
I heard Almost Paradise on Satellite radio the other day, love that song....but I had forgotten that Mike Reno was the Loverboy front man. Powerful voice....man the 80's were fun.
Loverboy was a very popular 80's band from Vancouver, Canada. Mike Reno's vocals are absolutely INSANE. Working for the Weekend, This Could be the Night, and Almost Paradise (his duet with Ann Wilson from Heart for the Footloose movie) are ALL amazing songs to check out. There is another fantastic Canadian band called Triumph that you have to check out as well. Would love to see your reaction to their official video for Lay it On the Line. Working for the weekend, loving every minute of it, heaven in your eyes (from top gun), hot girls in love, the kid is hot tonight. Those are some more of their songs to check out. Especially the kid is hot tonight.
All great suggestions. Mike Reno has kept his voice. Still sounds great after all these years. Saw a recent interview with him and he seems very down to earth.
Next for Loverboy listen to 'Lucky Ones' and 'This Could Be the Night'. Loverboy was HUGE in the early 80's - literally one of the biggest bands in the world.
This is one of my favorite bands! My brother who past away from cancer would listen to this band. He past away in 1989 he was 21. I have this in my car listing to it today!
Loverboy was my first concert, April, 1982 in my hometown of Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. Bryan Adams was the opening act. It was a great show! You'll definitely have to do "Working for the Weekend" next
@@julielynn10 At the time, no one had really heard of him. It was the "Cuts Like a Knife" album released the next year in 1983 when his career started to really take off. When "Reckless" came out in 1984, it sent his career through the stratosphere!
Back in 1982 I was in my first year at Art college. We were on a bus to Liverpool and I was sat next to a quiet kid called John Fish. He had a Walkman, a device I'd not seen before and I asked if I could try them. He handed it over, and I was blown away by the quality of the sound. They seemed magical, amazing bass sound and this drum sound I'd not heard before. I was mesmerised and asked him who the band was. He said Loverboy, a band I'd not heard of, and this quiet kid, who nobody talked to was listening to them. I'll never forget John Fish, the Walkman or Loverboy. I don't know what happened to John Fish, and I never got to own a 'real' Walkman, but I did go and buy a Loverboy album the next day. Their sound was never as good as that day on the bus, so can I recommend you listen to Loverboy on some great headphones. And if John Fish is reading this, thanks John, it's one of those great memories that is precious to me.
@@philjones45 actually! Is funny....because it reminds me this time at school in rural Mexico this kid just had a brand new CD player with him! I was really surprised by the CD size (it happened to be a Guns&roses cd) not much for the device. I knew about Walkman. Few years later heard Loverboy on the radio at work!
Lover boy was hugely popular during 1981-83,, they didn't fall through it was just a long time ago. You could argue that they were under rated but there was so much good music during that era that it was hard to stand out
Love this song. I like the album version even better which is about two minutes longer. It is a shame that this song did not do better on the Hot 100 where it peaked at #35. Mike Reno has said that the record label refused to keep promoting the song. Had it done so, it quite possibly could have been a Top 10 hit. My sister developed COVID in September, and became seriously ill. Things were looking bad for her, and I decided to try and cheer her up by texting her songs from Loverboy and Journey. She began to turn the corner, and after three weeks in the hospital and rehab, she was able to go home. She said that these songs, along with lots of prayers, pulled her through. I wish that I could get in touch with both of these bands and tell them personally how grateful I am that their music made a difference in someone's life.
These guys were the big time in the early 80s. They were legit rock stars at the top of the music business, released several studio albums. Saw them live in about 83.
Hello from Cody Wyoming! I saw these guys in the mid-eighties in Laramie Wyoming, it was my first concert ever. They have a lot of really good content🤠

This brings back memories.
