I started out with East Coast. In my opinion, it's easier to learn than West Coast, but West Coast allows for more creativity. I'll always have a special place for East Coast, though.
East coast swing is a great first dance to lean for those who've never danced before. West Coast Swing would be quite challenging for most non-dancers to learn. Still totally doable, but a steeper learning curve for students and harder to teach (not all teachers are as good as Brian).
Thanks for the kind words Kurt. I agree 100%. ECS is an easier first dance but WCS is pretty cool long term. As a former professional partner once said "all dances are easy to do but all dances are hard to do well" Gotta just get started right?!? -B
@@WestCoastSwingOnline I have been waiting for 7 years for semeone to start giving swing classes in my city. 7 long years. And then Lindy started and then WCS a month after it, so I just had to pick both!
Hey Kenneth, I'd LOVE to cover that but I don't dance Lindy Hop and my Lindy/ECS history is weak. Jamin Jackson did an awesome video on that subject. Hopefully it is helpful :-) ruclips.net/video/rex3E2LZVEg/видео.html
Lindy hop IS an east coast swing. East coast swing is more of an umbrella term. The style shown in the video here is what you see in the ballroom scene. I originally learned "east coast swing" as a precursor to lindy hop. It was basically a simpler 6 count version of the same thing.
