Updated video without the music: ruclips.net/video/y0DybCpfCyQ/видео.html I had to remove the background music using a filter because I no longer have the original video without music. The audio isn't perfect and cuts out a little bit, but it is much better and less annoying. Sorry for my inexperienced video editing mistake, and I hope the re-uploaded video is more helpful.
Excellent video! You saved my ass. I disassembled my 1982 steering 6 years ago. I did save all the parts, so I was good there, but of course couldn't for the life of me remember how it all went back together! Thank you!
Thank you for taking the time to do that video you save me all kinds of the hair pulling and cussing and nail biting it's always good to see what you getting into as in a video then going and blind much appreciated ....Vetteman.
Great video. Had an horn issue and that was beyond just the upper contact. This gave great instruction on removing the steering wheel and getting into the steering column! Thank you,
@@SWSpeedCo thats a good idea actually, I almost lost the "key" for the telescoping "piston" knew what it was, but not where it went, your video helped tho, also, any tips on the buzzer, the little plastic peice just below the ignition cylinder with the 2 metal tabs coming off ? mine doesnt seem to want to return to its home.
@@SWSpeedCo oooo ok, well if it doesnt cause any issues ill probably leave mine out then. im pretty good about not leaving my keys in the car, someone tried to steal the car and screwed up the ignition cylinder, stuck something inside and something was broke inside of it, just got a new one from oreilys, also wanted to look at my turn signal switch, felt a bit, loose. waiting on the plastic horn contact retainer in the mail for now, checked everywhere near me, there is this store that had the rotors for the vette, and a few older parts for the interior but not even they had one.
@@SWSpeedCo oh, also, is that the original clock ? mine doesnt work and just wondering if you have went about replacing that or not lol, furthest ive been into the dash or console is repairing the vacuum coupling for ac/heat. the clock would be, nice, but i dont want to break anything, you know what i mean
I love the pace car, I'm restoring a 77 tilt column and this video was very helpful I completely took my column apart. If I wasn't LS swapping mine I would have gotten the pace car but I didn't want a project that would be devalued by modification.
I know. I had to lower the sound because the music was loud, but then I couldn’t hear the most important part of it. I don’t understand why people add distracting sounds to a video you’re supposed to listen to.
Currently in the middle of rebuilding my steering column and as I am about to put it back together I’m noticing that rod for the high beams is loose. How do you know if it is in place properly?
It's been so long since I've messed with it I'm not 100% sure. I think the handle for the highbeam is threaded into the housing so you should be able to turn it right and it should tighten up
I'm rebuilding a 81 vette. Just finished the motor, transmission is rebuilt, and the rearend is all done along with the front suspension. The interior is coming all out and the steering column is getting rebuilt. I did buy the factory assembly manual they used on the line when biulding the car. It has all the instructions and assembly diagrams for the steering column. I got all new parts, except the turning signal arm with cruise control. Nobody makes it, and I can't find one anywhere. Anyone got one? Only thing I'm missing.
When you pull the buzzer spring out, you a should tell and show that there is another very tiny v shape spring inside. That spring inside is to realy wedge it out. so people be extra carefull when you pull it out because it will fly out on you without you realizing it. Every body i have contacted has discontinue the parts.
try a place called Davies Corvette in Port Richey Florida I have found parts for my 78 pace car there ,when every one else said they were on longer available.
gmtiltcolumns.com/product/original-gm-tilt-and-telescopic-lock-plate-for-69-76-corvette/ This is what mine looked like, idk what year your car is but this website has lots of options, I also seen some on ebay that are alot cheaper.
How I'd u get the switch off the bracket underneath? The part u were on for a few hours. That is the part I'm stick on. Cant get the clips and the whole thing off the bracket. I can try to send a picture if u need
I had to change out the ignition switch for mine so I bought a whole new one, I’m having trouble getting the switch to lock in place, currently I can pull it in and out with no resistance and I was wondering if someone could help me out?
If I remember correctly there is a locking pin that you need to press in in order to remove the ignition cylinder. My guess would be that the pin is not engaging or might be in the wrong spot on the new ignition cylinder
I think it should do it on its own but I would visually check to make sure it is actually engaging. Also If you still have the old one you can look at the pin placement and make sure it's in the same spot on the new one.
If it is as clean as it sounds, I think you got a great deal, mine has 95000 miles, but the numbers matching motor is in need of a rebuild. With a rebuild on the engine in the condition mine is in it could probably sell for upward of 15000. Mines not as nice as it looks in videos though, it has its quirks
When the dj didn’t show up to the wedding we just played this video to get people dancing, unfortunately the music didn’t include the electric slide...
My apologies, there is a link in the description or comments to the same video without the annoying music. It was early in my video editing experience haha. Thanks for watching!
@@SWSpeedCo brother, thank you for your apologies, anyhow, I think you did a great job ! Thank you for sharing the process. My steering column wiggles a lot and directional switch is hard, so this will help me to know what to expect while working on it. Thank youuuu!

At 16:50 there is this little metal piece that connects to the blinker rod then to the switch place. How did you get that back on?
