What a great man. Grew up watching his show and it isn't until my middle age that I realized what a great man he really was and what a great contribution he made to all of us growing up.

For me, favorite parts were the drawings, yes, as well as the crafts and the surprise costumes from the Tickle Trunk! And Mr. Dressup's calm yet adventurous and cheerful manner were what made it all work so well. 😊

What made him great was that he didn't have to be loud or colorful. He talked straight. Made us laugh and shared his world. It never felt like watching a show but instead like we were talking to a grandfather. Didn't hurt that he looks like mine lol.

My grandmother and brother and I used to watch this show a lot when we were kids XD. My grandmother liked Chester the Crow and 2 other puppets. She also liked the arts the arts and crafts part of it. I wish shows like this still were on TV. Educating them about day to day stuff and showing them all kinds arts and crafts :D. Also I think there needs to be a biopic of this great mans life. He deserves to be introduced to kids of today.

I'm in my 60s now - I so well remember watching my two favourite shows, Mr. Dressup and Friendly Giant while all my older siblings were at school. Watching this is bittersweet - I hope kids now are able to have someone like Mr. Dressup - he was the funny uncle full of energy and ideas. I would watch the show and then ask my mom for bags, or toilet paper tubes or whatever it was that he'd made something out of that day. I honestly think that the relaxed pace of his show - and Mr. Rogers - was good for kids. It gave us time to breath and think and just watch and listen - and they never talked down to us, Mr. Dressup spoke to his audience - not at. This almost brings a tear to my eye.

The old expression "compare apples to oranges" actually works well in this case. Just as oranges & apples are delicious, just used in different ways, so Mr. Rogers & Mr. Dressup both gave children wonderful ideas to use in the outside world.
Rare & lucky the child (on the Canada-US border) who grew up with both.

Mr Dressup (Ernie Coombs) was an American immigrant. He was born and raised in Lewiston Maine and came here in his 30s to work with Fred Rogers. the woman who voiced Casey is named Judith Lawrence. she is originally from Australia moved here in her 20s. She was a kindergarten teacher before Mr Dressup she now lives in BC

I miss the days when good men were prominent in the education and guidance of children. In these days the morning t.v was full of Mr. Dressup, Fred Penner, Mr. Rogers, Captain Kangaroo, The Friendly Giant, The narrator from Hammy Hamster, Reading Rainbow's Levar Burton, Today's Special, and some good men on the Muppet Show as guests and Sesame Street. All positive, kind, big hearted men and excellent male roll models for boys and girls. Today's landscape seems full of cold hearted men, and women, all aspiring to ideals of power above and beyond the grasp of children, or just ditzy and condescending and not telling stories or taking us on adventures of the imagination.. These men were honest, slow and soft talking, kind, but strong, and approachable. I think we are missing something very special in the media these days for children.
