  • Join GV design partner Jake Knapp for a super-fast introduction to our sprint process. The big idea with the sprint is to build and test a prototype in just five days. It's kind of like fast-forwarding into the future so you can see how customers react before you invest all the time and expense of building a real product. Watch for a quick preview of the sprint process.

I love this, although going into sprints, I realise that a lot of our "Understand" phase involves research that would take weeks to months to acquire the right data that could drive us to make the right decisions. In saying that, I would advise anyone to ensure you have the data on hand before embarking on the 5-day sprint.

Hi, I'm curious to know how would you see this approach working at its best during pandemic conditions, when each member of the sprint is working remotely? Thanks.

Does this method work as well on services as it does products?

    • @benkamakorewa5814

It can be helpful to think of the service itself as the "product"

Interesting, a 5 day sprint, do you believe such approach would work for software development in the long process, or is it more during "creation" phase, where you would otherwise be running brainstorming sessions, etc?

Sprints totally work during an agile Dev project (such approach is also called "Design spike" ). You just need to have to make a big change in your product (like rethink the homepage)

Love the Sprint Book! Just curious if you've thought about in person UX Sprint training for 2017?

If design sprints actually worked, why don't we do design sprints every week for our entire product. Answer: you'd get burn out because it's not a good sustainable process. It requires people to take shortcuts and cut corners. I get the idea of not spending months designing something that won't work, but design sprints are abused by the business as a way to force designers to work faster. I hate them.
