- Olga Kern performs with the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra the Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 16, composed by Edvard Grieg, under the baton of Daniel Boico.
This performance was originally presented by the JPO at the Linder Auditorium during the Season Finale of the World Symphony Series JPO Summer Season 2019.
amazing performance and so talented artists and Olga is like an angel here. Lately I have attended her performance in Prague and it was an incredible experience.
I've attended two live performances by Olga Kern, brilliant and sensitive artist. The first was a recital in Sarasota Florida where she played Scarlatti, Liszt, Rachmaninoff and a piece by a contemporary Russian composer written for her. I joke that she broke the piano but it had to be tuned during the intermission. She is a powerful and dramatic performer, completely devoted to the music. Her scholarship is apparent as is her respect for the traditions of performance of romantic era music. The second time was at the Brevard Festival near Ashville. where she played the Rachmaninoff 2nd piano concerto to an appreciative and knowledgeable audience. My daughter heard her in Tel Aviv with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra playing the Rachmaninoff 1st piano concerto. She is unique and tremendously gifted.
WOW! This has always been my favorite Concerto! I was introduced to Classical music while in the U. S. Navy! One of my favorite sailor friends invited me to his home for dinner and his wife played this very same masterful concerto on their baby grand Piano. I could not believe I was hearing this live in person as I only heard it on plastic, 78 rpm records on my grammar phone!
Feeling blessed that I can watch this again.....thank you.
Прекрасно!
Смело!
Талантливо!
Тонко!
Браво,оркестр!
Always enjoy Olga kern playing Rachmaninov since first seeing her win The Van Cliburn in 2001. Now this. So overwhelmed by this performance of the Grieg Concerto......
Wonderful performances all around. Thank you . I have always loved this concerto.
This lady does justice to this incredible work, Bravo !!!!!
THE COMPOSITION IS VERY EXCELLENT AND ORCHESTRA PLAYS EXCELLENT THE PIACE.
Terrific !!!!!
Wonderful! Olga and the orchestra are great! Best wishes from Belarus!
Maybe the greatest piano concerto of all time !!!!!
Sensational performance from an extremely talented lady !!!!!
There are too many great piano concertos to say, which is the greatest. Each has its own greatness. I'm more Rach fan, so Rach 2nd and 3rd would always be near to my heart. I like Grieg's Piano Concerto as I do Chopin's Piano Concerto.
@@ms.annthrope415 ok very good.
👌
Wonderful symphony with pianist.
There are no words 🙏
What can you say about this beautiful performance, which demonstrates so well that beauty is in modulation--of force, volume, pacing, pitch, mode itself..
I'm saddened by the film crew's direction not including some closer footage of the wind instruments.
I haven't seen Olga is several years, and for a moment, I was convinced that this was not her!
HEAR that incredible touch of Olga. Is her undoubtely... Her sauvage and tender flame burnt my soul in the past just like now. She is unique.
Heard her in Feb 2005 playing Rach 2 with JPO - Mesmerising!
@@johanlourens723 I heard her with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, performing Rach 3, several years ago. At the end of the performance, while everyone else was leaving as if nothing special had just happened, I was still sitting in my seat, my hands over my face, trying to get my breath back - literally. I must have been on the verge of hyperventilating! It was that moving, but then, I'm sensitive to such things.
@FSS2000 It's nice to know that I'm not alone. I once attended a live performance of Rachmaninoff's Paganini Rhapsody. During the popular 18th variation, I had tears streaming down my face, and took a look around, only to see that half the audience was also in tears. I've only ever witnessed that with Rachmaninoff's music. There was something very special about him.
@FSS2000 Thank you...
Molto brava
the sound is not so good... olga is a great performer i wish some time there is a better sounding version of this magnificent concerto
I wish there were more recordings of her with good sound. She is such a great pianist but there are virtually no recordings of her.
