Thankfully i have already played the game and both expansions but this is so fucked up for anyone who has not played them yet, this literally spoils the literal half of an expansion which is the best part of the game.

I was literally blown away when you walked into his hideout, started planning the heist and this shit started playing in the background. Hearts of Stone was like playing an interactive blockbuster movie, dude. It DRIPPED with narrative style and suspense like a wet rag fresh out of water.

Last of Us also reminded me of blockbuster movie quality script, acting, and story. Games and TV shows are going to supplant movies as a storytelling medium, mark my words. It's already happening, simply because movies are an outdated way to tell a story simply because they must condense it far too much.

Hearts of stone is such an great dlc with such an great antagonist, what an masterpiece.
Gaunter o' dimm is one of the greatest character and definitely my favourite in the Witcher 3.
My favorite part of this is that the antagonist is based on your decisions. Sure, there's only ONE guy pulling the strings, but depending on whose side you take, the other will become your enemy. It's not exactly groundbreaking though, as you don't really see the result of it until the end.
Best thing about the story is that its so unique. I mean, many games and movies has great stories, but hearts of stone is so unique compared to the others

Hearts of Stone was in my mind the better than the main plot. I mean a heist? Shani? Sketchy ass dude with riddles? What more can person ask for?
Caretaker? The bossfights in that DLC were god tier, they made the Wild Hunt and contract fights seem like child's play
@@TsarofScars I mean, you fought th GOD (Devil) himself so... Also Olgierds first fight was one of the most perfect fights ever done in a video game, and you can even miss it.
You could ask for a job in an absolutely beautiful duchy with your own estate and some vampire action
Shani was the negative. Totally forced in and I did not enjoy her presence one bit and I couldnt completely refuse her either and after the wedding just get out to chase Olgierd and O'Dimm. I had to reconcile and kiss her before I finally got out. The heist was better BUT the ending where I simply murdered everyone because I couldnt care less. Iris world literally made me yawn the entire time.
However, Gaunter was much better antagonist than the trio of elfs that got scared shitless about the White frost and were little actual threat - so much hype for Eredin and his hunt and I beat him with my bare hands because of how telegraphed and bad the final boss was.
Although I think both have to bow before Blood and Wine.
@@Dark_Voice BOW is great and could be game by itself, but's itc's writing and plot is nowhere near as great as Heart's of Stone's. Both are on par still.

Man, this track masterfully pumps you up for the heist. A real shame the heist gets fubar to the very end (at least in my case), but that made it even more exciting to me, and perfectly fits into the unpredictability and gray morality of the franchise.

I believe he means the fact that the Witcher is heavily based on eastern european folk tales (AKA paganism) and because the soundtrack uses a lot of folk instruments (AKA pagan instruments)

To put it simple, paganism is something related to religion. Pagans were irreligious or hedonistics, considered uncivilized or unenlightened. For cristianity and the european society in general, the Slavs were considered pagans. Their culture is a symbol of defiance. Similar to the Vikings in a way.
And the Witcher is obviously based on Eastern folklore and culture, even an unintelligent person can notice that.

I like to think that Geralt ran into a big group, they drew swords, then the sound at 1:14 is Geralt finally unsheathing his sword and standing toe to toe with them all. It's such a little detail, but it's so damn epic!
Entering that hideout and discussing the heist crew members gave me serious GTA 5 nostalgia
You may not know, but whole Heatrs of Stone is in 90% the same as one of the most popular polish story. Pan Twardowski. Only wishes are diffrent.

Yep. Lots of polish folk stuff in HoS. Olgierd, and even some things Olgierd says in his fight is from some Polish movie, like that line "You do not strike sir, you flail!". One guy on YT told me of the Polish influences, but I don't exactly remember as I'm not really polish :|

Witcher 3 still to this day stands as the game with most unique OST I have ever heard.
Mystery Man, You're Immortal and Gaunter's theme/hearts of stone, are some of the best tracks Witcher 3 has to offer.
NOT saying that base game is bad though, Steel For Humans, Whispers of Oxenfurt, Silver For Monsters and Hunt Or Be Hunted are also really good songs.

Whenever I hear this OST, I look at the moon and imagine the insidious GOD descending towards me!
I know the comments are filled with how terrifying, cunning, smart and powerful gaunter is but think, Geralt beat him at his own game, I know it's probably unsurprising, but to me, it makes me honestly scared of what Geralt is capable of, he's beat Djinns, higher vampires, the wild hunt, god-like beings (keep the god-*like* in mind)
Like Witchers were meant to slay monsters and Geralts done a lot more than just *monsters*
He did get a whole lot of help in beating all of them tbf. Yen helped during the djinn fight, gaunter's was a puzzle and not a straight out fight etc
Well, Gerald is the protagonist so he will always have the upper hand. O Dim is scary in fact
i know this was used in the heist planning scene, but i still envision a coven of witches in a forest weaving a spell around a bonfire or in a stone circle, at full moon night, of course. the kind of spell that makes one in the circle start levitating.
"There's black magic afoot..." basically. oh, and they're all nude, so I have a fear-boner in the brush I'm hiding in.
I can kinda see what you mean, actually. Except for that last part, it’s just fear for me.
Because not only are the witches not nude in my version of this scenario, they’re also summoning a horde of demons eager for some bloodshed.
