    I dont have a tractor, yet. But i do occasionally use a bank drive though teller. A lid that latches closed would make that a fantastic feature. No worries about anything falling out.

    LA535 loader owner here...would be nice if that was an available option. And agree Neil, seems like the option of ordering these "à la carte" would be a no-brainer. Finally, while it's nice that they included the rear lip to pull out the contents if it is upside down, it seems to me that if these turn upside down during use all you need to do is rotate them back to the upright position before removal, and everything will just fall back into the tube before you pull it out?

  • @jimbob281
    @jimbob281 10 месяцев назад +13

    It would be sweet if they had a version for the LA535 and smaller loaders. The tubes are smaller but it would still be good for things like shear pins.

    Great idea, I did this over a year and a half ago, but I use the loader bracket tubes by making a plug for the inside and a cover for the outside and its held with stainless bolts drilled and tapped, one side of the cover is fixed to pivot the cover the other has a wing nut to secure it. I made my cover out of oak then covered it in epoxy resin to protect the wood. Both were made on a CNC machine with the outer kind of fancy with Kubota 3d on it. Looks and works fantastic. I'm quite sure they will far out last me. Love your videos.

    I built my own using PVC and cut/epoxied scrap wood circles on the end for about $10. Added a rope handle and zip tie it to the loader arm so it doesn't back out or turn. $0.10 for a new zip tie every time I use the chain I keep in it.

    Geez, Neil, couple of years ago you turned me on to the sundry Artillian ROPS-mounted tool carriers: heavy-duty basket, chain saw holder, etc. I went with that system, and it's working just fine for me. I do a lot of work out in the bush behind my home up here in eastern Ontario, and I can carry chains, ropes, snatch blocks chain saw fuel and bar oil - basically all that I need. I do use the little plastic "pencil-box" tool holder on my B2601 for cotters, shear pins, and small wrenches, but the Artillian system is working just fine for me. Thanks for turning me on to that.

    The only two questions I have is is there any concern with tools inside the loader tubes scratching the inside of the tubes and causing them to rust from the inside, and also since they are not water tight I wonder how prone the tools would be to rusting over time? Otherwise seems like an awesome idea, especially given my cab on the L6060 doesn’t even have a toolbox. I definitely like the idea for chains!

      @wildbill23c 10 месяцев назад

      Not sure why they couldn't do that...and looking at the prices of these things, they're way too expensive honestly. But I guess if you can afford the size of tractor that those tubes will fit, I guess maybe its not expensive....just seems expensive for a couple of plastic end pieces and half of a 4" tube. I'd have to stick with PVC if I wanted to do anything like that, but for my small property its not as big of a deal carrying stuff around in a bucket and setting it in the loader bucket to haul it around and easily remove if I want to use the loader.

    So many "one more inch" jokes jump to mind. My only real concern with the magnets would be something heavy that can slide in the tube might have enough inertia to knock the tube loose. As far as turning upside down, it seems like just making sure the logo is rotated right side up will get everything but the smallest of items back into the tray.

    3D print can be very robust using PETG and the proper settings.
    We make RC aircraft from the PLA, which is not much weaker than PETG. I'd go PETG because it does not distort weith heat in the Texas summer sun inside a car. Today there's a "lightweight PLA" so you can print the RC airplane at 40% lower weight and nearly the same strength.
    Using the correct settings, you can take a PETG bottle, strip it into a form that acts as filament and print another )smaller due to thicker walls) bottle. The OEM bottle will withstand 80 PSI as a small air tank. The thicker wall will withstand 150 PSI. (tends to pop the screw on cap off)

    • @JCWren
      @JCWren 10 месяцев назад +1

      While I agree the price point is a bit of a stretch, there's more than "$2 worth of plastic". There's a fair amount of cost in the engineering and manufacturing the molds alone. I doubt they bought their own injection molding machines, so they've got costs in paying a company to actually shoot the part. There's packaging, shipping, cost of labor for office help, taxes, graphics designers for the boxes (unless they come in a plain cardboard box), maybe liability insurance (because lawyers, right?), interest on any loans for the company startup, and probably half a dozen other costs I haven't thought of. Then there's the window of market opportunity because some Chinese company clones these and sells them for 1/10 the cost. All that has to be amortized into the product cost, plus an actual profit margin. So don't go thinking that "$2 worth of plastic" should sell for $10. That being said, $100 is too much in my book. My price point would be $29.99 for the smallest version, and maybe $59.99 for the largest. But I'm a cheap SOB, too, so there's that.
