Looks a very good part of The Southern Uplands there.
You will have probably trekked these parts Richard when you dud SU way 👍
Sick to death of this summer and forgotten what the sun looks like! To be fair after that shower passed it did not look too bad where you were, nice pitch and great views too. All your stuff looks very organised, my bag is just rammed full of stuff in any any old order lol. Hopefully no more lost gear this camp and dam shame the wind got up and that mist dropped. Man it went from bad to worse and wild up there looked an understatement - bring back the proper summer! Cheers Alan
Thanks Alan , I think we were spoiled with May and Junes good weather , this is payback ! It wasnt a bad afternoon while it lasted lol . I was quite tidy on this camp I must apologise 😂 I was expecting poor weather in the morning and it didn’t fail me lol .
Roll on autumn it’s got to be better 👍 atb Dave
OMG, how the bad weather chases after you Dave...you gotta' 'rain magnet' on you LOL..???.....July and Augusts seem to be the 'British Rainy Season' now. Monsoon Britain. Good job you left the tarp at home...😉...Im waiting on some better conditions for up there and it looks as if its about to happen....Got a few tops lined up.
Got to go out on my booked days off and it always rains lol think the tarp could be out again soon , I actually quite like the slugs crawling about camp in the morning 😂😂 Monday looks ok so fingers crossed for a camp ⛺️👍
That was a bonza water supply for you and it looked quite picturesque in its own way. Rough nites make you appreciate the good ones all the more. Still it was a good camp. Bushyboy Oz.
Cheers mate , yeah plenty of water on this one 😂 and yes it was not a bad camp really .tfw atb Dave
Looking well...the usual excellence... interesting hills, I like the way you point the distant hills out😃
Thank you, if I know them I will point them out, as it helps people watching pinpoint the area better atb Dave
Enjoyed that. Lovely area to camp. This weather though! Nightmare. Thanks for sharing 😊
Thanks not far from your last one in the rain too. atb Dave
@@BorderRambler yeah guessed as much 😀
Haha! Your title says it all Dave! Ah! the great British summer, let's see what August brings. Love the idea with the Airtag👍👍
Can't wait lol , it’s been pretty poor hasn’t it 🌧😂 hopefully I won’t lose a 2nd mic atb Dave
Rain! That sounded like hail, I suppose it’s one of the down sides of that material. Gorgeous camp as always. Hardy
Yeah DCF does amplify more than silnylon. tfw atb Dave
Great idea about putting that tag on your new mic (sorry to hear you never found your old one).
Another excellent summer camp Dave - apparently it was the 6th wettest July since records began, and it's still blinking miserable in August 😥 What the heck, we're certainly not fair weather campers, and as you said at the end - this is real wild camping 😂😂
Another nice Uplands camp, and a nice route up that gulley as well. Tent looked great and the views were quite acceptable.
I was out the same night and it was a wet one all the way from 3am, through to hiking back to the car nearer 11am. Still, it's always good to be out. atb DVS :)
Thanks Donna , glad to see the back of July eh August has to be better….. hasn’t it 😂
if we waited for a good day to camp we would never leave the house.
Dollar law is my to do list sometime soon , but yeah proper Wildcamper or nutters lol
Nothing better than walking back to the motor in the rain, and then trying to air all the gear ready for the next camp !!
atb Dave
Nice camp Dave. I want to explore a bit over there. I can do it easier now with the van. I had an air tag on my car keys. It fell off and I lost it. My phone couldn’t find it. I think I did something wrong 😂😂 I’m so unlucky if I was reincarnated I’d come back as ME..
anyway hopefully the weather picks up soon eh. It flipping better. 👍
I spotted a few vans parked up on my drive away from there the other morning, I have a tag on my keys too but it needed a new battery as it wasn’t updating with the phone.
yeah bloody weather needs to sort itself out like, otherwise before we know it autumn will be here 😂
Reincarnated as yourself 😂😂😂😂. I’ve got a tag on my car keys too and it alerts me to that fact that I’m following myself 🤷♂️😂
Thank you for sharing your adventure! I really enjoy your channel. Cheers!
Thanks for watching Dan , appreciate as always Dave
@@BorderRambler You're very welcome, Dave!
Another great video Dave. I love seeing the places I don’t go to as I’m down south in the Peak District 😀 no matter the weather getting out is always good for the noggin!
Glad you enjoyed it, if I waited for it to be nice weather I would never get out for a camp 😂 atb Dave
Amazing hills for a camp, much like the Cheviots but smoother lol not so many lumps !
Air tags are great we have them on the dogs for when they are off the lead in the woods,
Enjoyed it
Cheers
Adrian
Thanks Adrian , I dunno there is a few lumps up there too lol . Not cheap but they do a great job for tracking stuff . tfw atb Dave
Really enjoyed your video, keep up the good work. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it atb Dave ⛺️👍
British summer eh - well you have to admit that gulley fresh water was awfully convenient and you were not chased by cow. 😊 More seriously I did think the hills looked lovely and green for summer. Thx for posting.
Yes when the sun did shine everything looked lovely , hoping for a decent autumn atb Dave
Good one. Weather not been good until just recently, then it was too hot! 😅 ATB
Thanks Jim a poor summer really but still managed a few camps , looking forward to autumn camps now ⛺️👍
Good stuff dave. Enjoyed as always. Gordon
Glad you enjoyed it Gordon atb Dave ⛺️👍
Nice camp, always feels great to be warm and sheltered in a tent when the weather closes in. Tent looks good and I like the look of your stove- would you mind saying what make it is? Thank you, Graham 👍
Thanks Graham , tent kept me nicely sheltered from the elements . The stove is a speedster stove - speedsterstoves.co.uk/30ml-spill-proof-meths/alcohol-burner.html
and the pot holder is a stormin cone which are now defunct unfortunately . atb Dave
Excellent Dave. I keep promising myself a trip up to the Southern Uplands and never seem to get round to it! I've just watched this on my hols and although I'm having a great time it had made me a tiny bit homesick and keen to get out on a camp when I get back. 🤔
Cheers Chris, I’m sure your not missing the crappy weather tho 😂 enjoy your hols they soon fly over 👍
Exactly, why do we do it? 😂. Nice spot that, in fact I’m going to be doing the Ettrick horseshoe and more exploring there very soon, weather permitting, been on list yonks. I can see why you do a lot of camping in these hills. Tent looks fantastic, shame about the mic, but cracking idea re the apple tag 👌. Enjoyed as always, cheers, Dave
The horseshoe is a good walk , I did it last year I think. Yeah it’s a lovely quiet area and a 40 mins drive from home 👍
Tent was solid in the wind and rain , I’ve got the AirTags on a few things now 😂 atb Dave
Yep I’ll be looking at those tags Dave, mint idea. Cheers mate 👍
Good stuff Dave, a bit of a damp night there. I'm due one myself, a damp one and one in the southern uplands..Just catching up videos from working offshore mate...cheers Stevie
Cheers Stevie , I was guessing you have been off shore as quiet of late atb Dave ⛺️👍
Great vid, I'll be up that way in a couple of weeks so you've given me my bearings ;)
Hopefully the weather improves for your trip atb Dave
Wet one Dave at least you didn't have to walk far to the car for a sharp exit! 👍🍺😁
You got that right Snowy , sharp exit to the car in the morning 🌧👍
Looks a cracking tent, wonder if it’s the same one as that young adventurer Liam Brown uses 🤔
Thanks it’s a different tent but same material . His is the zplex I think 👍
pheasants weren’t too happy with Dave looks like an mint camp atb Bryan
They were everywhere on the start of the walk Bryan 😂 another wet n wild one lol atb Dave
Nice one Dave
Boy loads of rain on that one !
Rubbish summer !
Cheers Graham
Cheers Graham , it’s been a miserable July let’s hope it improves in August . atb Dave
@@BorderRambler
Fingers crossed Dave !
I think it’s the end of August now Dave with this weather. I can’t complain though because I’ve been lucky on my last 3 camps, which isn’t like me at all. ATB Jiffy 👍🏻
I know let’s hope it’s a good autumn , still I’m managing to get out still lol atb Dave
Yep this summer has been a wash out and don’t even mention the midge😂 some nice lightweight gear there Dave, I keep looking at tracking pole tents than think can I justify it🤷♂️ Atb Darren
It ain’t been good at all Darren , I do like the mid type pole shelters . you have been quiet lately ?
@@BorderRambler yes there was a big build up for the WHW then I had a couple of weeks in Spain with the family. Plus it seems like there’s been a birthday or something every weekend, next planned camp isn’t until September now, but I can’t complain really 😂
Hopefully we have a good autumn to do some camping ⛺️👍
wet one dave...seems to be the theme this summer. Still good to get out mate and TFS Steven
It sure was let’s hope autumn is a good one atb Dave
bit of a wet one dave.whats new🥴 could quite fancy a solo mid.do you always take the inner out when packing down?. deffo autumn like nights cutting in.pity you didn't find your mic.👍
It’s the summer theme I’m afraid 🌧🌧🌧 yeah always take it down , I always air them separate. I was looking earlier and we are losing 15 mins of light each week now 😂😂😂 yeah I tried but no joy in finding it . atb Dave
The weather changed pretty quick mate, things seem to be on the up now ☀️ I do like a quick overnight it’s good just to clear the head.
Yeah got a few hours in the afternoon then it closed in as per 😂 out tonight hoping for a drier night ⛺️👍
Seems you had a very similar night to me, 500 odd miles apart and the weather is the same, welcome to British summer time :)
Yes it seemed that way Si , wet and wild let’s hope it improves 😂
Sorry been so long commenting but awesome none the less. Shame bout the mic I lost a drone camera n glasses which wasn't great. Still watching If I dnt comment 👍😊
No worries , it’s no fun losing stuff but I would be gutted losing a drone 😂 atb Dave
Good stuff, bad weather! Could I ask what thermomether you had there in your tent? Looking for something small and portable to have while camping.
it’s just a cheapo off Amazon - ORIA Bluetooth 5.0 Thermometer Hygrometer, Humidity Temperature Sensor with Big Screen, Indoor Thermometer with App for IOS and Android, Free Data Export for Home, Greenhouse amzn.eu/d/9meBL9e
atb Dave
@@BorderRambler Thank you
Evening, what inner and groundsheet do you use?
The inner is the specific mountain laurel design mesh inner with groundsheet, I have a 4 season Lanshan inner for winter months also atb Dave
Can I ask what your table is called please? So I can find the specs etc. Cheers.
ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk/ultralight-folding-table/
This is it here , other stores also sell it .
This is lanshan 1 or lanshan 1 pro sir?
Neither , this is a Mountain laurel designs Solomid XL in DCF 👍
