Not sure what you're wearing on your feet, but if you're toes are hitting the front of your shoes coming down hill you might wanna try the runners hitch. It's just a way of tying your laces that lock your ankles so your feet don't slide forward. Easy to look up, and really easy to tie. Just a suggestion. :) Happy Trails.
The tent looks like a good piece of kit Dave, you did pitch it in an exposed location and it stood the test. It is great that you can access the southern uplands relatively easily from home. I have noticed the Tweed is running the last few days, so I assumed there was lots of rain across in the west where it rises. So your trouble crossing burns is understandable, safety is always best when hill walking espiecally in such remote areas, even with your experience. Another brilliant overnighter, Thanks for taking us along, ATB Big Dave.
Thanks Big Dave , yeah August and burns are worse than winter 😂 . it’s a 45 min drive from home , and I can have the fells to myself . I do love this part of the world both sides of the M74 are my playgrounds when in the hills. atb Dave ⛺️👍
Nice one Dave , i must have missed this one but like the new shelter , like the colour . I was just thinking ive not been down on the border hills for a couple of years , i'll need to get a trip down ..i keep going north lol...But good video mate again ..cheers Stevie
I know the weather has not been too bad in August but when you look at the year as a whole it has been pants, far too wet for me. Well you did mention rain on this one and that did sound like a heavy shower and windy too. Not the best of mornings but at least you kept dry on the way down, well, mainly dry, cheers Alan
Was just looking at the Solomid and wondering whether the lanshan inner would fit , well now i know 👍👍 Also as yourself , had the lunar solo in the garish green 😂 Enjoyed it but now sold . And the Duomid too , but with everything guyed found the footprint to be HUGE . So eventually sold that too . On the prowl for a new shelter , this ones fave at present . Enjoy your vids 👍
Good to see you back out Dave, living vicariously through others channels so glad you brought a video out. I’ve opted for an ultra version pyramid tent so see how that fairs when I’m back out. Cheers Steven
Good to see you back in the Southern Uplands Dave. I know I keep saying the same old crap about making the effort to get up there, but one day I might kick my arse hard enough and actually do it. Great trip mate, I liked the changing skies you got. 👍
The perfect summer camp Dave - wind, clag and rain! But you know what....it's still good to be out. And nice to see you back out up the hills, it's been a while. Enjoyed this one as always, and a wise move to sell the DCF if you're not getting the use out of it. The rain sounded lush on the tent. One day you'll get a nice hike in with no raging torrents to deal with, you'll get a nice flat pitch, it'll be warm - with just enough breeze to keep the midge and flies at bay - sunset will be glorious....as will sunrise, then a farmer will pass you just as you're pulling down and offer you a lift back to the car on his quad.....but where's the fun in that? 😂 atb from DVS :)
You are absolutely right , just being out whatever the weather was just enjoyable .DCF shelter just wasn’t getting the use and the sil-poly version is much more useable and robust. Looking forward to the next one before I hit the canals at the end of the month 🚲⛺️👍 atb Dave
Hi Dave, Welcome back to the hills and a magic spot, great camp, I will have to try the southern uplands looks so nice green and rolling. Cheers Adrian
Good to see you back out Dave and back up in my neck of the woods too. Weathers been awful this year for trying to get out without dealing with either high winds, rain or clag. Think you could right with last year too. Been a while since I’ve seen you up there, bar maybe one in durisdeer?
Yes it can be with adjustments made to suit the ground, but it’s always better to find more suitable flat ground. This camp wasn’t the best pitch due to lumpy long grass, but I still managed to make use of it.
I just told Donna to stop teasing me with Tantalising camping spots now you're doing the same Dave...so cruel..😭😭..😉🤣...Im missing those hills like I miss Italian Ice cream. Shudda told me you were selling that DCF Solomid lol...anyway, you've got loads more space in the XL and a cheaper piece o' kit now...extra change left over to buy summat else, but don't tell the MRS..😉😉..good to see you out again...atb, Annie.
I thought I better get out and do a camp 😂 yeah I wasn’t get the full use for its cost. The silpoly is much easier to use , pack away etc and lots cheaper. Are you any closer to getting out on the hills yet ? Atb Dave
Nice one Dave. Tent looks tidy. Love the new colour 😎⛺️👍. ATB bud 🙏🏻
Thanks Dave , think I prefer the darker colour of the duomid tho 😂
Thank you for sharing your adventure! Thank you for taking me along, Dave. Beautiful country. Cheers!
Thanks Dan ⛺️👍

MLD Solo Mid XL is a excellent shelter choice. I have mine in bright orange and enjoy it very much. Thanks for the video.
Yes very pleased with mine too 👍
Southern Uplands are much more peaceful than the Lake District. Nice camping spot mate.
Absolutely Richard , I prefer the solitude of the SU ⛺️👍
Nice tent that Dave 👍 You were lucky with your timings to beat the rain 🌧 Lee.
Cheers Lee , yeah it won’t have been fun setting up in the rain 😂🌧️
You can tell us Dave you got more tents than underpants! 👍😉😁😎🍺
I did sell one , honest snowy 😂😂⛺️🍺👍

Yeah the newer plus size Lanshan inner does the trick nicely , both together are still a lightweight setup too ⛺️👍

Thanks Anthony , typical summer weather 😂 atb Dave ⛺️👍
Yippee. Love your ones where proper hiking 😊

Welcome back to the hills and a magic spot, great camp,
I will have to try the southern uplands looks so nice green and rolling.
Cheers Adrian
Thanks Adrian , it’s great place and always so quiet ⛺️👍
Dave, where have you been mate 😊😊 great to see you out again bud 😎😎🍺🍺
I know Tony , lots going on in life and not enough time to get everything done 😂 . Hopefully I can get out more frequently from now on ⛺️👍 atb Dave
@@BorderRambler good to hear Dave, I’ve just purchased a one Tigris tipinova for a few trips with Rolo 😎😎🍺🍺 let’s see how it fares 😊😊

Good to see you out Dave, do love an MLD, that looks a great set up. Bought a Durston but im not sure about it as yet. Atb A
Thanks Andrew , they do a decent shelter . Durston seems a popular tent at the mo 👍
No surprise there Andrew!
from 2 wheels to 2 feet 😊 squelchy underfoot but what do you expect for August 🤣⛺
Yeah so bloody wet Geordie at least it wasn’t cold which was a blessing 😂😂
Much benefit over a Lashed up one though do you feel?
Larger and more robust if you mean over the Lanshan one ? Atb Dave
Is it easier to find a pitch site due to smaller size? As i understand one of the downsides of duomid is that a huge area needed to put it up right?
Yes it has a smaller pitching size than the duomid but it still requires a decent size area to pitch it.
And if ground is uneven is it still possible to pitch it stable?@@BorderRambler
Yes it can be with adjustments made to suit the ground, but it’s always better to find more suitable flat ground. This camp wasn’t the best pitch due to lumpy long grass, but I still managed to make use of it.
Another great mini-adventure. Did you order the tent from the States, or is there a UK stockist you can recommend? Really like the look of it.
Thanks , I ordered direct from the states there was a 4-6 week lead time . No UK stockists unfortunately . Atb Dave
@@BorderRambler Cheers, will have a look
Great to see you back Dave 👍
I’m loving the Dcf Solomid I got off to you. It’s been on westhighland way Cumbria way and other camps inbetween. Atb 👍
