They say the shoemakers children go barefoot, which means your cat probably doesn’t have a beautiful bowl to eat out of, either? I’m glad you’re doing this for yourself, it’s important to treat ourselves as well as we treat others
We have a similar saying here in Brasil, which goes "Em casa de Ferreiro, o espeto é de pau" (Portuguese) - that translates to something like "In a blacksmith's house, a stick is made of wood/wooden" So, you have a master but you don't use it/have it at your house/for yourself...
Shoemakers children go bareoot because the shoemaker knows that childrens feet grow fast especially during spring and summer. There is no point in making shoes for them when they will grow out of the shoes in a few months. Growing feet don't need shoes. Adults feet only spread but have stopped growing.
My dad is an electrical engineer. The light in my closet never worked growing up. My husband is a civil engineer. Our house is... obviously... unfinished. Possibly forever 😂
In spanish there is a saying that goes "en casa del herrero, cuchillo de palo" (at the blacksmith house they have wooden knives) cause of how common it is that people who make stuff don't bother making their own at home 😂
As a low volume glass artist, I can recommend keeping 1-2 of the best things you made each year, and an example of each series of things you did as a portfolio. My first few years all my best stuff became gifts & I looked at what I made and got depressed about my skills. Then I’d visit a friend and see my work & remember I was quite capable. Since I do some seasonal stuff, I try to keep one or 2 a year and grow the display, and have a little display case of my weirder favorites.
I love this. I am teaching myself to sew and I sew things all the time but rarely get to keep anything for myself. I dream of making my entire wardrobe:)
Same. I needed some art to make my room nicer. Like Posters and all that. In a specific illustrated style. It was when I stood in front of the new Posters on my wall that I was like „huh, I could’ve designed some Posters myself.“ Because I am a graphic Designer. That’s life sometimes
LOL Im glad to see Im not the only one who does this!!!! Everyone I know has crochet items from me and my husband looked at me and was like I never see you with any of your wears. I told him thats because I dont have any cause I gift them. So this year I finally made myself a fabulous bag lol
I crocheted my purse, and I get so many compliments on it. Then the question "how long did that take?" It took 6 years because it would get set aside to make things for other people.
Throwing clay on a wheel looks soooo easy when a pro does it. There's some technical things to know in order to get the proper consistency of the clay and understanding the process, and the rest is pure talent! Really cool video!❤
It's wonderful that your taking time to do something nice for yourself. Seems like us creative types have a bad habit of giving all our best to people we love or selling them. ❤
I like the idea of you creating like "a baker's dozen" of the things you create and taking the spare home, and you can slowly fill your kitchen with bits you've made!
This is so relatable. As a professional artist, all of the original paintings I have in My Home are for sale. I can use them to decorate my walls, but ultimately, they are transient in my home, and if somebody were to buy them, I would be out of all of my artwork.
I feel this! I'm a quilter. The quilt on my bed is one that my mom bought at an auction and I liked, so I took it (with her permission, of course) because I hadn't gotten to making one for myself.
I’m glad I watched the whole video. I couldn’t figure out what you were talking about… spoon holder? I was thinking maybe something to hold silverware in if you have a picnic and everyone gets their own silverware!😂. Then I saw what you were making! We call those spoon rests where I’m from! Anyway, I love your work and I’m glad you’re learning to take better care of yourself along the way ❤! Cheers!!!
You should make a chuck (I think that's what it's called) for pieces like this. It's essentially a cup, bowl, etc thats only purpose is to have whatever you're trimming rest on it without having to worry about the shape throwing it off.
I do similar things if something have a little “ side effect” I keep it for my self to use. When friends and other guests come over they love how is my kitchen is 👍🥰
They say mechanics drive the worst cars. I guess you’re experiencing a similar phenomenon.
Doctors and nurses struggle to go to the doctor.

In Poland we say the shoemaker goes barefoot.
Just about every chef and line cook I've known has lived off of frozen pizzas at a point in their life. We forget that we too need care.

I make pottery as a hobby and my cat is the only one who uses exclusively hand made pottery as food and water bowls 😂

I feel that so bad, i crochet so much for others and i always wish i had corchet stuff for myself 😂
Same here I've never made something for myself
I do too. I've made more stuff for other people than I have for myself
Same here tbh, as wonderful as it feels to see how happy your creations make someone its also nice to keep a lil friend or two for yourself ❤

That's such a great idea!
I think it is so great that you are making ceramics for yourself, too, and I'm glad you realized that you should 🥰
This is exactly why i want to get back into throwing. I could just make everything i need for my house 😂
I love this. I am teaching myself to sew and I sew things all the time but rarely get to keep anything for myself. I dream of making my entire wardrobe:)

Anyone else want this spoon holder asap? Omg this when I'm making pasta or a sauce 😳 ❤

It's good that you're taking care of yourself as well. It's important to have some self-care

This is the best series idea
i love this for you! take care of yourself so you can shine ❤
I LOVE your mushroom lamp!
I really need a spoon holder. The one I have right now is a plastic one I got years a go but don’t use. Definitely wanna get one when they’re ready.
You deserve good ceramics handmade for yourself ♥️
this is an awesome series, good for you Connor!!
Please show the finished products, after glazing and firing. Thanks!
That’s so real! I sew and do craft shows mostly selling tote bags but the tote bag I use is so crappy and falling apart! Love your content❤
Those are so cute ❤
Doing the same for myself with crochet. ❤
You are freaking adorable
Good for you! Very common issue, glad you are breaking the mold!
I’m all there for this series 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Yay! I’m loving this idea that we will watch you and tag along as you create pieces FOR YOUR OWN HOME!!! Love it!!!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE THOSE❤❤❤
Those are so simple and yet so satisfying to look at
❤ love this concept. Gotta fill our own buckets with that mad skill 🎉
Awesome!!! Proud your finally thinking of you.!
They came out beautifully. What type of clay do you use?
I'm definitely here for this series!
It would be nice to see some of your finished pieces.
I absolutely love this idea 😊
They look very nice❤
Yes I love this, self care comes in all ways ❤
Question. If you make a mistake or if something breaks in the kiln can you pulverize it back to powder and rehydrate it to clay?
thanks for making me smile
I love this! You can't be feeding everyone else in gorgeous pottery and not yourself!
We love this form of self care 💜
It's so satisfying when you cut this ❤❤

🥳 can't wait to see your personal collection when you're done!
OMG SAME HERE. Never make stuff for myself.
Mkay, welp, now I'm invested in this spoon holder side quest
I feel this! I'm a quilter. The quilt on my bed is one that my mom bought at an auction and I liked, so I took it (with her permission, of course) because I hadn't gotten to making one for myself.
I feel like you and Tommy Bowe are destined to be together.
YEESSSSSSS MAKE YOUR KITCHENWARE youre living my dream ive always wanted to but idk how to do pottery
I can't wait to see what you make next.❤
You should keep one of everything you make!
You should 100% make one of those infomercials when you are done with the spoon holder!!
If a majority turns out well you'll have multiple 😊 I'm glad you're treating yourself to nice things
Nice...i like that spoon holder.I have had one for 30 years shaped like a peice of pie.
Great job! Im a computer programmer and all my computers at home need updating! 😂
I would love to have one of these
I have one that holds a lid too. I love ceramic ❤
Ugh, this happens with everyone that makes stuff to sell😂 happens to me too
OMG i have that exact totoro shirt!!!!
Lol, reminds me of my seamstress days.
Nice studio,Buddy! Looks like my ceramics classroom in college.
Definitely make things you love for yourself so others can see how much you love your own work that it stays in your house.
I love making my own things when I can.
This is a dream come true for me I would love to do that
Love this!!!! Do things for yoooou!!!!!
100% NOT selfish! You go!
May I ask what is the apecial with those spoone holders? I simply use a small plate, similar size than those. It does the job very good.
Please do a garlic mincing plate. I'm currently obsessed with them.
gurl i get the making for yourself. unless its broken i never make or keep things for me
I have the opposite problem haha I’ve kept everything I made so far even things that I was planning to sell lol
Cute! I didn’t ever know what those were called. I have two from my old neighbor who did ceramics, they are in the shape of leaves.
I’m glad I watched the whole video. I couldn’t figure out what you were talking about… spoon holder? So good! Is your wheel going in different directions for different parts of throwing or is it an illusion? 😅
You should make a chuck (I think that's what it's called) for pieces like this. It's essentially a cup, bowl, etc thats only purpose is to have whatever you're trimming rest on it without having to worry about the shape throwing it off.
Love this idea. I wish we could all do this. Think of how much plastic we would avoid using
I just found you again and went to the store. I can't wait until you restock your store.
Very talented
Gorgeous
i’m a nail tech and my nails are always a mess or not done, so i definitely feel this lol
THE SPIDER THAT COMES DOWN !!!!! please say that was fake
Omg when you were sitting there in the first clip spinning the clay it made an appearance 😳
I do similar things if something have a little “ side effect” I keep it for my self to use. When friends and other guests come over they love how is my kitchen is 👍🥰
It would be nice to have a spoon holder. I always use a saucer. 😅
You’re funny. Subscribed

Sounds like a classic case of 'The Cobbler's children go barefoot and the Tailor's children wear rags.'

I do the same, chipped ikea dishes. It’s ridiculous! I’m gettting my kitchen redone and making a set for myself. I can’t wait!!!!
Oh my God, I want one
