    This bike is a great beginner bike for those who want the cruiser Style but don't want the weight or size of a bigger bike, or the expense of something that could cost two to three times more. Honda is very clever in using its 500 CC engines along the cruiser and CB lineup. So clever in fact, I just bought a cb500x. It doesn't have the problems this bike has except for the weak rear brake, but everything else is a hit. I love it!

    Great review! I think i've watched every single Honda Rebel 500 review, and you're the only one who did some lane filtering, and city driving! Thank heaps :)

    Really liked this video, this was the review i was looking for, you managed to talk about of all crucial points, and the best part, you filmed in city traffic, since is what i will mainly do, and your city traffic is like mine ( Lisbon, Portugal).
    I am planning to do some long crusing but not more than 150 klm till i stop and rest for the next day.
    Best review about this bike so far.
    Cheers mate!!

    "1 meter, 74" in height? I believe that translates to 5'8" and 1/2 inch. And he feels cramped? Not a good sign for a lot of riders.

    Great video. I am thinking about taking up motorcycling and I was drawn to the beginner bikes such as the Rebel 500, YAMAHA SR400 or Harley Street 500.

    • @epiac9367
      @epiac9367 6 лет назад +4

      I would definitely recommend the Rebel 500 as a beginner bike. Reasonable power for a reasonable price. Chances are you will not outgrow that bike for a couple of years.

      ¿Por qué todo el mundo se empeña en definir esta motocicleta para principiantes?
      Pienso que es cierto, pero sólo en pequeña parte. Para los que peinamos canas y ya llevamos muchas motos, esta Rebel 500 es un juguete perfecto para nuestra edad. Disfrutamos de la moto cada segundo. Por eso no corremos, en un intento de que el tiempo transcurra despacio. Conducimos tan despacio como se bebe el buen vino o se ama a una mujer. Y tiene potencia suficiente para la fanfarria final de la orquesta.
      Otra manera de disfrutar.

    • @jeeves6490
      @jeeves6490 5 лет назад

      I wouldn't recommend the Street, otherwise each would be a good choice.
      The Rebel probably a little better for a first bike the SR probably better in terms of being able to do pretty much anything asked if it.
      But that may simply be my bias against cruisers generally.

    Honda has come out with a string of bikes with cheap-looking, hard to read displays. They should hire a new display designer.

  • @rizzlerazzleuno4733

    Entertaining and useful review. Good editing. The lane splitting was like watching an adventure movie, will he make it, will he crash? This 500cc Rebel is definitely more useful for distance riding than the old 250, but why did Honda put on such wide tires? Seems to defeat the purpose of a 500cc bike.

    The sitting position is not normal for a cruiser, your feet is not forward the footrest. Like a regular non sport bike or like a retro not cruiser... I hope honda defines better what is cruiser really means. This is the reason i go for vulcan s.

    This or a Honda shadow 750/1100? Thoughts?

    • @larrybarnett7662
      @larrybarnett7662 6 лет назад +2

      Compare the specs:
      Rebel
      weight 414lbs
      torque 45.9ft-lb
      hp 32.9hp
      HP/LB 0.08
      tor/LB 0.11
      Phantom
      weight 549lbs
      torque 44.6ft-lb
      hp 47.9hp
      HP/LB 0.09
      tor/LB 0.08
      The rebel is probably faster off the line, while the shadow might hold speed a little better. The shadow is *significantly* heavier (bad in a parking lot, good in a crosswind). If you drive a lot, the Rebel burns less gas. Looks-wise, the shadow is old-school. I felt like Captain America riding mine. However, I can still dig the Rebel's modern take on the cruiser idea.

    • @larrybarnett7662
      @larrybarnett7662 6 лет назад

      Gah! Got the Rebel torque/hp numbers switched around:
      Rebel
      weight 414lbs
      torque 32.9ft-lb
      hp 45hp
      HP/lb 0.11
      tor/lb 0.08
      So, torque is a wash, but the rebel has more peak horsepower.

    This Rebel looks fugly alongside the 2016 model with it's stunning red or even black colours. Generation Y alright, but they left off the question mark as in, WHY?. About the only good news here is, is that the earlier model Rebels will increase in resale value, providing the the ones offered for sale are in as new condition...
