    Leonard made a huge mistake to step into the ring with Camacho, at age 41. That was a really bad way to end his boxing career.

    A week after the loss to Duran, ABC and Howard Cosell broadcasted a pity party interview for Leonard who was on the verge of tears. From that moment on I hated Leonard and had no use for Cosell. Leonard, however, learned from this fight and had a keen eye on how to defeat others who had lost something, like Hagler's hunger. I always respected Leonard's talent, but he was, even given his world-class talent, more mouth and self-aggrandizing. Later we learned he was also a coke head, so it's a marvel he fought as long as he did.

    Ray a pris Duran croyant qu'il battrait facilement un gars plus petit et plus léger . Il s'est trompé . . Et lorsque Duran a facilement gagné contre Camacho 15 ans plus , Ray croyait encore à tort qu'il battrait facilement ce poids léger . Camacho l'a litéralement sorti du ring. Pas mon boxeur préféré. Il tournait autour d' Hagler en espérant qu'il ralentirait et qu'il pourrait jouer sur la dimension du ring. Pas un très grand boxeur.

    What an intriguing title! Sugar Ray Leonard is undeniably one of the greatest boxers in history. It's always fascinating to see a comprehensive view of an athlete's career, including their losses, as it gives a full picture of their journey and resilience. Remember, every great athlete has faced challenges and defeats; it's part of what makes their story so inspiring. Leonard's career is a testament to skill, determination, and the spirit of sportsmanship. It's amazing how much we can learn from examining both the victories and the setbacks of legendary figures in sports! 🥊🌟

      Perdió con Durán y perdió con Hagler (aunque se lo robaron). La segunda pelea con Durán fue una carrera contrarreloj, y no volvió a quere pelear con él hasta que tuvo casi 40 años. Pero tampoco quiso pelear con Hagler hasta que estuvo algo mayor, y se le ocurrió que en los últimos 20 segundos de cada round podía tirar manitas de algodón y engañar a los jueces ... y les engañó. El único "sugar" que me gusta es "Ray Robinson". Ojo, es verdad que pegaba bailaba y boxeaba, pero no tenía el corazón de Durán ni el de Hagler, ni de lejos.

    • @ddpove
      @ddpove Год назад +2

      @@rockyfarrel Permíteme poner algo de perspectiva en tus afirmaciones. Yo no llamaría paquete a Iran Barkley, que era el campeón de la WBC en peso mediano, y con 28 años y un poder devastador, y perdió contundentemente contra un Roberto Durán de 38 años. Por cierto Iran Barkley era campeón de la WBC por haber ganado por KO técnico a .... Thomas Hearns. Ambos eran pesos medianos.
      También ganó a David Moore consiguendo el título de mediano ligero de la WBA.
      Leonard le engañó en la segunda pelea pidiendo una revancha con 5 mese de diferencia, aumentando el tamaño del ring para poder correr y sin realmente conectar golpes fuertes. Pero como conocía la pegada de Roberto, no le dio la tercera hasta 9 años después, ya Durán con 38 años, justo después de ganar a Iran Barkley y subiendo de peso a la categoría de supermediano.
      Y por último, perder contra Hearns y Hagler, no desmerece en absoluto. No puedes llamar paquetes a Pipino Cuevas, Ken Buchanan, Estevan de Jesús o Jorge Castro, aunque si no los conoces puedes llamarlos como quieras, pero desde la ignorancia. En cualquier caso, un hombre peso ligero natural que subió de peso cinco categorías y consiguió títulos en todas ellas.
