this brings back so many memories!! this was the moment I was bitten by the bug back then - used to ride listening to the John Tesh soundtrack... epic! and to this day, I would die for a team 7-eleven team bike from this tour! lol
I'd pay for a DVD with remastered video. 480p would be nice if they can port the original coverage (the material from these videos) to DVD. The weekend recaps are not edited as well but would be better than nothing, I guess.

He is a product of Europe really. Andy did most of his training in the states and Roche in Europe. He didnt say he was European, just forged in Europe.
They have some pretty funny commentary. Sometimes I think they expect the commentators to talk constantly and when they start running out of things to say, they get stupid.
It's exciting when you're there. Even for the commentators. The overdubs are more refined. Also, the US commentators were pretty ignorant back in the 1980s. The networks only had a few cycling fans and even those guys got excited while covering the Tour. They were learning on the job.
Jerry Dixon I know about John Tesh, I will now do some research on Yanni. I use these stage highlights for workouts but hearing them without commentary would he good. Thanks for the pointer!
You can buy the John Tesh album from a year later. Some like it better but it's not quite what was used in the NBC broadcasts. It's called Tour De France: The Early Years. I think there was one before that as well just called Tour De France from John Tesh. Early Years is the best of what you can buy in album for. You might be able to DL it track by track, I'm not sure. I actually really like the way the music was integrated in the same day coverage late in the race (Roche chasing down Delgado). That's amazing. I don't know how to buy the music or any high quality video. "Early Years" is the closest that you can get in CD quality music.
@mrbeat7 So it would ok to refer to Albert Einstein, Leonardo Da Vinci, Victor Hugo and Shakespeare as products of Europe? No disrespect towards you but I think it's a lazy sport presenter's cop out. Forgive me if I'm being overly sensitive but I am Irish and I never refer to myself as European. I much prefer to be referred to as an Irishman, just as I'm sure Canadians would prefer to be called Canadians rather than a product of the North American continent. Europe is a geographic name of a reg
Thanks for posting this yesroh, this is still my favourite Tour and Phil Liggit more than makes up for the american commentator's ramblings.
The music made the Tour along with the commentary
Interesting now to think all these years later that this first stage occurred before the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Thanks to the Reagan Administration
Been looking for this tour...thanks alot. Nice to see them previewing the 7 eleven team.

DUDE....this is awesome. I watched this 87 but my tape broke bro, thanks!

Roche was on fire this year, and I don't think even LeMond would have beaten him here.

Anyone know where to get the soundtrack?
Joe Slater John Tesh and Yanni composed just about all the music...👍

Chris McReynolds cheers will look into it
Why is young Donald Trump narrating the first minute?
Three and a half thousands dollars for a bike in 1987
Can not watch with that music, pity. No offence

"...Stephen Roche, a product of Europe..." that's the worst introduction of an Irishman I've ever heard.
