DO NOT CHIP THE BAMBOO!!!! As even the smallest bits clinging to life once given soil and water will re root! Honestly its not worth it, leave it to dry in the sun. Then shake off all the soil from it, and burn it once fires are allowed. Or use it on your open fire to light it, or get rid of the stuff..... I had it in a small bed next to the drive ten years later im still digging up little bits,,,,
This was my thought exactly. I had the experience in a previous garden of trying to eliminate Couch grass which is a rhizome, rather like bamboo is I suspect. We dug & dug to remove every bit we could find, knowing even the tiniest piece could grow again. We were advised to keep it out of the compost also. When we'd finished we buried sheets of corrugated iron around the garden to stop any further invasion (2-3 feet deep) but it still found its way under the barrier. Dry & burn seems the best advice. Your doing so well with all the new challenges, this is just the price of living in paradise. Btw, the bedroom is gorgeous! Love the result xx

The farm is so beautiful! Love how you both are completely at ease with Crusoe getting in there experiencing everything dirt, mud and all!! Brings back memories of my 4 kids at the end of the day. “Nothing a bath cannot wash away” was my mantra. Love your journey!
What a little man Crusoe is! I just had to acknowledge him! Your training is to be admired! It's great that your neighbour is helping you out with the bamboo roots! Look after yourselves!
I’m just thinking that if bamboo roots are so easy to spread, if you chop them up and use as a mulch, do you risk them regrowing everywhere they have been spread? Here in the U.K., we have to be very careful with bindweed roots for the same reason. Love the bed and lamps 😀
Unfortunately fire is the only solution for the roots and even that is problematic because the roots hold a lot of soil which them doesn't burn well. The best solution is truly isolation like a concrete pit lined with thick plastic. The roots are shallow but incredibly strong, grow through almost anything. Put it on tarps to dry out , separate the soil and chip it up to burn it. The are which you cannot clean must be isolated with concrete, not too deep maybe 2 or 3 feet. If you do the isolation you can put the root chips there. It is a lifelong project John.
CRUSOE IS JUST SO VERY BRIGHT AND .... TAKING IN EVERYTHING YOU DO ! ! ! AT THIS RATE..... I AM SURE THAT HE SHALL SIMPLY SKIP SCHOOL AND GO STRAIGHT ON TO UNIVERSITY ~ THEE MOST PRECIOUS LITTLE DARLING THAT HE IS. XXXXXX 💕💕💕
Bamboo is such a pest yet so awesome as a sustainable plant with a myriad of uses! It will be ongoing as you said it. Love the progress and just love seeing Crusoe wonder about enjoying childhood in a way that many children no longer do. He’s the luckiest boy in my opinion and what an awesome immune system you’re giving him! Love it! 💚🐝🥰🌞
I think it’s time for an art project. It would be super fun to see Caruso create some memories in paint on small canvas. Then you can hang them in your beautiful new bedroom. Fantastic job on that bed! Cheers!
Another great family video! The bed was fantastic John, yes it was very beautiful! I also loved seeing Tara at the fair trying to communicate in Portuguese and I was very happy to know that she is already trying to learn the language. Crusoe is getting smarter and helps his mother, it was beautiful to see... I loved it...💞💯
Glad to hear you are safe in this heat! 🥵 The bed turned out great! It's fascinating watching Crusoe totter about the farm, all the lovely things you are discovering yourselves, he looks like he loves every second. I'd be exhausted keeping up with him, he's so speedy! Lovely to see the Portuguese spirit & beautiful people. As for the bamboo, you have a great action plan & thoughts on the long term. Have a great week!
Crusoe is a little darling, he's learning so much. Your little farm is a working progress and any change/ improvement you do just enhances the beauty of your home. It will look amazing in the future. ❤
"Menina, obrigada! Tudo de bom!" I love that northern accent 😁 Portuguese is not easy, it has many irregular verbs but in no time you will be fluent. I had no idea that bamboo was such a pain and, after reading some comments, it really is a pain!! That bed is amazing, John did a great job 🙂
Well done John on the beautiful bed you made . Crusoe went straight from toddling to run everywhere. Secondly I love the progress on going as you said. Poor bamboo 🎍 instead of trying to annihilate it . Take advantage of the raw materials it has give you. It nice watching your family adventure. I love your channel.
Thanks Phillip! Great idea regarding the bamboo, thank you so much for sharing it! Great to hear from you friend, its been quite a week! Thanks so much for watching and taking this journey with us, your support is so very much appreciated! 👍🙏🇵🇹🏡
Bamboo is ever so invasive all around most of the globe, even here in the midwest of the U.S. in the state of Ohio, once it takes root it is a bully to get rid of. Best of luck and can't wait to see your final result I hope it is successful whichever way it works out. Also, I have so enjoyed the baby steps and sounds from Caruso and all of his antics. I am so glad you are going to bring a new baby into the videos because we can see and enjoy baby videos again and see that beautiful son of yours into his next phase of life. Thank you for sharing your lives with us!
Thanks Pamela! Great to hear from you, thanks for watching friend. Crusoe sends lots of hugs and we all send our thanks for watching. great to have you along for this adventure. 🇵🇹❤️🙏
Thanks for another wonderful video. Your property is already beautiful, so vastly different from when you first walked through the gate. More than anything I love that you are restoring this wonderful farm, in which your sweet family will live and thrive. To me it looks like paradise!
Have heard of so many bamboo nightmare stories lately, Could it take over the World? Power to your elbow in getting rid of it.love joining you every week ,thankyou for letting us into your lives x
Hello John, Tara and Crusoe……good to see you have had some help with starting to remove the bamboo…..what a job! 🥺 I look forward to seeing what you guys do with the cut down pieces in the future. Just loved Crusoe this week, interested and helping with all you do. 🥰 and well done to John for providing such a great bed so you’re not on the floor anymore…👏🏻 Also good to hear you are coping with the heat and safe from the fires etc. Best wishes and ❤️Julie 🙂

John I love the bed you have made with your own hands , so Romantic. Tara before you know it you will be able to talk the language, I live in Italy it took me about a year to start picking up the beautiful language but here I am after 40 years I’m still here . Of cause your little one will pick it up in no time .I just love how he is so helpful with his mummy and daddy . What can I say that hasn’t been said about the bamboo, once you are rid of it I can just imagine all the new fruit trees you can add to your land . Love to you all . A fan from Italy .😃🌞
wow, well done sweet Newbys.I just love your innovative, sweet, enthusiasm and perspective about the world and your farm. blessings and love from Australia.
Who would ever guess that the gnarly bamboo would make such beautiful flooring. When I remodeled my kitchen/dining area, I used bamboo. It was gorgeous. 🎋 You all work so hard, I hope you're getting rest, too. Thank you for another great episode!
Of all the people trying their hand at abandoned Portuguese farms and small holdings, I think you guys chose the best one! I wondered how long it would take for you to re-stabalise the slope now that the bamboo us being removed, but John you work so quickly, I'm sure you'll get to it soon. And would some sort of fork be any easier to dig out the bamboo, rather than the spade?
You three are a real force! Lovely people with with a strong willpower and a tone of optimism. Real inspiration! I cannot wait to see your flowers and fruits terraces 🥰
Crusoe is having so much fun and is very eager to get his hands dirty. He is talking more now too. Those are nice looking pine cones and will smell lovely on the fire. I hope the heat is bearable, don't overdo it mama! That bamboo is very invasive to say the least. I have a big patch of it behind my raised deck but mine is very manageable. Thankfully a good neighbour and a good digger was there to help the process along. I am sure you guys will laden him up with some fresh fruit. Pulling those root by hand in that heat has to be exhausting. I just celebrated my 62nd birthday with a leisurely walk in White Rock, BC, at the longest peir in Canada with a long time friend who treated me to fish and chips along the shoreline at a place called Moby Dick's. LOL. It was my first time out to a restaurant since the pandemic. I am truly grateful for all of my blessings and for my You Tube favorite channel, yes you guys! Take care in that heat guys and best wishes always. John, that is a great job on the bed frame. Rest well guys!
Thanks Peter! He is having sooo much fun!! We are just about managing the heat, lots of shade from the trees! Great to hear from you, thanks for watching friend.
I'M SO GLAD I FOUND Y'ALL'S CHANNEL... It's so enjoyable to see how blessed you kids are... You're trying to get ride of getting ride of bamboo and I wish I had some to build things out of. Always wanted a small bamboo fairytale forest about a half acer or so. BUT our weather is way to cold for it to grow... I sure did enjoy seeing your little man helping you hunt for pinecones. It makes him feel special helping you like that. You can see it in his face that he feels like a big boy helping like that... I'm sure looking forward to next week's video... With much love and prayers, may you kids be blessed in Jesus name... BBE..
We are with you in the heat - threatened to be 41 today. The air is hot too, so everything needs to be closed. Our lovely thick walls are keeping us coolish. I tried the walk round the block earlier this morning - phew! Love to you all.
We totally sympathise with the effort needed to remove bamboo. We've had to do this on two houses we've owned. It's evil stuff and WILL grow through concrete! Burning is the only option. Just be aware though that if there are any sizeable shoots to be burnt, the sealed chambers of the shoot will burst when heated. Ask us how we know! We dug up all the roots on our side of the fence, lazy neighbours just left the roots and burnt the 3cm diameter shoots. Sounded like a war zone with all the explosions going off. Surprise, surprise, it's still growing on their side so we still can't relax about it in case it spreads under the fence again. Grrrrr.....
Hurrah for the tractor. It is giving you a good Headstart on the bamboo jungle. Crusoe is such a darling little boy, and it’s always so much fun to see him running around the property. You three are truly blessed.
Que Paraiso este lugar ficou linda à cama e esse anjinho e muito fofo seu filhinho e lindo Deus o abençoe e o guarde sempre voçes são maravilhoso abração familia
Hello friends, let me give you a tip for the pile of bambo roots, you let it dry up after summer time is over, when temperatures go low and winter arrives, and then set a good fire with it. Nothing is going to happend then and you will be able to get read of that stuff! By the way today was the firts time that i don't see a smile in Crusou's face, he looks pretty concern 😂 with that machine going in his property! Have fun and be safe from this hit weather and firers around! 😘😘😘😘
Great video. I’m not sure about pine cones but since burning pine can cause a buildup in your chimney, which can cause a chimney fire, I would imagine that pine cones would, too. Glad y’all are doing good.
Using pine cones to start your fires is fine. It will take years of burning pine cones for any buildup to be a problem unless your chimney is extremely narrow. Just clean out your chimney every few years- which is a good practice regardless of what you’re burning.
Hi from the uk. Amongst all the other wonderful fruit trees you have, do you have any fig trees? I grew up in Greece and had the most wonderful childhood. Your way with Crusoe reminds me of the wonderful days I spent with my family, learning Greek, going with my mother to the local market getting really fresh produce and the carefree days of climbing trees and picking fresh fruit of the trees especially figs as I loved them and still to this day. I love your channel and wait patiently every Sunday to watch it. I wish you the very best of everything. Crusoe is adorable btw.
Hi Pamela! Fig trees are great! Yes we have two of them. Greek, what a great language that is! Crusoe sends lots of hugs and we all send our thanks for watching. great to have you along for this adventure. 🤗🤗❤️
I’m glad to see equipment coming in to help. He may need to come back again in the spring. This is very hard to get rid of. Here in New Jersey, US it is illegal to import or plant it
Your son is so cute ! His little bowed legs… so cute. He looks like he is always on the verge of falling down but he some how manages to stay upright. He must keep ya on your toes.
The star is Crusoe, the little helper ♥ ♥ ♥ Good job trying to learn Portuguese ;) However I noticed that the platform teaches Brazilian Portuguese, not European Portuguese and there are many differences between them. And you need to get some Panda bears as pets to eat that invasive bamboo :)))) Sending love from a very hot Lisbon !
Hello Tara, John and Crusoe. Enjoyed your video as always, looks like y’all have your work cut out for you. I have always heard bamboo is such a problem when it spreads out, being so hard to get rid of, but now I understand. Your bedroom turned out lovely, love that bed .Crusoe is so cute running around and learning to talk. Take extra care during this heat wave, good to see you guys , looks like everything is coming along. Until next time, God bless❤️🙏🏻💐
Thanks Doria! Great to hear from you friend, its been quite a week! We are keeping cool from the heat, Johns working on future plans to ensure we are never too hot… more on that to follow. Thanks for watching friend. ❤️👍🙏
I think from the conception of -454-farm house on video from painting the shutters and pulling the vines off the main house planting the lemon trees and cleaning the courtyard, we could not see beyond the overegrown branches of trees and vines past the steps down into the fruit orchard. Today, Wowzee the courtyard becomes a birdseye view of massive and manicured and welcoming an "inquisitive mind" as to the endless and tiring work and plans ahead. The one beautiful memory I hold dear to my heart is that very intelligent Crusoe at his age HAS identified the fruits that are edible❣❣
Thank you JoJo! Great to read your comment friend. Yes Crusoe knows all the fruited now, we think that fruits make up over half his entire vocabulary!! Great to hear from you, thanks for watching friend. ❤️👍🙏
🙌💖💞 I can't wait to see him with the new 👶. Keep up the the good work John and Tara! I have a funny feeling Crusoe will be the Narrator of "THe Newbys." He already knows not to be left out of the conversation..😍💞

You're all very busy, but the busiest (and most joyful) is our little Mr Crusoe! He's got so much to see, experience and achieve that he's running and skipping everywhere and getting things done 😄. Congratulations on the progress; it's amazing what you've accomplished in the time you've been on the property
As always, an awesome video! Glad you were able to work on getting rid of the bamboo....but those roots were enormous! I cannot wait to see the finished product! Also your bed is beautiful! Great job! Until next week, take care and be safe! 🥰

Just adding a concern, when we were in Madeira we learnt that they plant bamboo on the hillside because the root structure helps with the landslides, they harvest it to keep it under control. Just thought you should know x
You guys just popup on my You tube yesterday, already a subscriber ,love your enthusiastic personality, and you are an wonderful family, I am Portuguese, lived in South Africa for 23 years, my family lives in Portugal and I live and work currently in the UK. I have been travelling a lot as well . Your farm is really beautiful, all the best to your family and new adventure.
Hi there, I love your videos but what you're learning is Portuguese from Brasil and not Portuguese from Portugal. They are different. Keep up with the good work.
You guys visited the world finally settled in the most beautiful country Portugal. It was really your brilliant choice. Great country amazing people. Love it.
I have been wondering about you and the fires there. I am glad to hear you are okay. Here in the island of Chios, Greece, we are on the “red” watching out for fires! P.S.: The bed and the lamps look very very nice!
Crusoe always steals the show, omg he is so adorable!!! As always your videos are so fun and relaxing, it makes me want to leave the city and get me a farm.
Lovely to see you all but watching Crusoe enjoying the farm is soo wonderful ❤️❤️ You people are doing great job with everything, you are facing difficulties with a smile 💚❤️💜💙
WOW. Cannot believe the size of the root masses of the bamboo! Everyone below is spot on: DON'T MULCH IT!! Burning is best when allowed. Try to put it somewhere in the meantime so it will really dry out and die first. It is amazing stuff, for sure. And you have to admire Mario's skill with that digger, shaking the soil off the roots- he's awesome. Well, good luck; have a great week. Love from CT, USA
Of all the abandoned property channels I watch, yours is my favorite. You chose well when you bought this oasis. It's pretty and lush and shaded from the harsh summer sun. You're also protected from the raging fires of central Portugal. Love your videos and your sweet family, especially Crusoe, what a joy! Watching from Rhode Island, USA, but born in a small village in the Leiria district.❤🇵🇹
Bamboo is basically giant grass. I'm really glad you kept some of it for later use. There's so much you can do with it, even maybe use it for pipes where you don't want to see pvc pipes out of the ground.
Thanks Colly! It’s a good idea. We have several areas of the farm where Bamboo is in large supply. There will always be bamboo on this farm we are sure. Great to hear from you, thanks for watching friend. ❤️❤️👍
Just love you people! Wish we were neighbors. Beautiful new bed and the property is coming along amazing! So sorry about the heat. We are in So Cal and the heat has been awful here for weeks. We are lucky to have AC! Love following little Crusoe around, what a cool little kiddo! 🥰
Pulling up that bamboo is like a day at the gym. Great stress relief I'm sure. Good to hear your surviving the heat wave. Your bedroom is so beautiful.
Hello Newbys! What a humongous amount of time and work to dig up and clear away the bamboo! And yet you and Tara still smile, laugh and shine! Watching your video brings me peace and appreciation for your endeavor to rebuild your farm. I love to listen to Crusoe's vocabulary which is growing everyday!
With his wet hair brushed back, Crusoe is looks soo like John. Hope you let it grow. Hims soooo cute. And bamboo is a right bastard!!!!! 😜 keep safe...❤
Well done guys on tackling the bamboo issue. It does look like a long term project , but I admire you for being so positive about the outcome . Good luck , and keep the videos coming !
Thank you sou much to sharing Mario take the bamboo roots of the grounds . I love the bed came out beautiful , John you did good job to made beautiful bed . God bless you guys🙏❤❤❤❤
WE get all the bamboo we want or need from a nearby neighbor. Many. many uses. tepees and trellises for growing veggies vertically. We also made bee hotels with the smaller diameter ones and sold them at the master gardeners plant sale. They help to increase the bee population. I enjoy your weekly show.
The day with the digger would be my grandsons dream day. Could pack him a lunch a give him a chair and he would sit all day. Crusoe is becoming a good farm hand helping mommy gather pine cones. Gosh John that looks like a tuff job. Do you have nightmares about Bamboo? That’s a good idea about chipping the root pile. Have a productive week but also have down time. Take care.
Glad you've made a big effort to get rid of the bamboo, but please dont bury it because you'll be back to square one. Not sure if even wood chipping it would kill it off. Fingers crossed you get some breathing space for the stuff. All your plans sound amazing and love the new bed build, well done. Xxx

Wow!!!! I did not realise how difficult your bamboo problem was. Glad you are sorting it out. I think the idea of shredding them up is an excellent one.
So nice to see that Crusoe is repeating words . You talk to him all the time and he is going to be talking sentences ahead of his time / age . . Love from South Africa .
Hello…. I can’t get over of Crusoe’s happiness, and we’ll adapted to all the changes in his short life. He is so blessed to be horned into you as parents.
Tara spray paint the pine cones in white red and green and some in silver or gold and make little decorative arrangements for xmas trees and wreaths and put a big red bow
Thanks so much friend! That is a great idea, I am sure the pine cones are going to become quite handy! Great to hear from you friend, we are so appreciative of your support!😊🙏❤️

Just like the broomsticks in The Sorcerer's Apprentice!

Bamboo is a pain on the land but a great building material ...
- build a lean-to for shelter/shade
- raised beds for your veggies
- fencing
- handrails on steep slopes
- raisers for steps on steep slopes
- make Crusoe a musical instrument, dangling various lengths he can bang
- cut short wide lengths in half and arrange at various angles to make a water course for Crusoe to pore water down
- make a 'board' to attach various object to make an activity board, bells, large bolt and nuts, plastic mirror with hinged flap, bunch of keys to rattle, something that spins/turns, a tube to drop things down, a pan and spoon to bang
- thin lengths tied to make pan stands in the kitchen or outside table
Just a few ideas I hope 🤞

This can absolutely happen. However; if they make sure the roots are well and truly dead and dried out before doing it, it should be okay.
Good call AJ. We are looking into this, and will keep you in the loop. It’s a real problem! Great to hear from you, thanks for watching friend. ❤️❤️
I agree. Don’t chop it and use as mulch because it WILL regrow and you’ll have a bigger problem. Wait until you can burn it later in the year 🤩
CRUSOE IS JUST SO VERY BRIGHT AND .... TAKING IN EVERYTHING YOU DO ! ! !
AT THIS RATE..... I AM SURE THAT HE SHALL SIMPLY SKIP SCHOOL AND GO STRAIGHT ON TO UNIVERSITY ~ THEE MOST PRECIOUS LITTLE DARLING THAT HE IS.

Hahaha thanks Candace! 🤓
Love it! 💚🐝🥰🌞
Thanks Marisa! What a lovely comment to read. Thank you friend. we are having so much fun here on the farm. Great to have you joining us. 🙏🇵🇹🏡
I think it’s time for an art project. It would be super fun to see Caruso create some memories in paint on small canvas. Then you can hang them in your beautiful new bedroom. Fantastic job on that bed! Cheers!
Thanks Leo, great idea there friend. Thanks for watching! ❤️❤️
I loved it...💞💯
Thanks so much Emanuel!
Crusoe is My Hero, Mummy's helpful Little Farmer.
Greetings from Nigeria, West Africa.
Thank friend. Big hugs to Nigeria!! 🌺❤️
Thanks Mochi Bear! Great to hear from you, thanks for watching friend. ❤️❤️
Crusoe is a little darling, he's learning so much. Your little farm is a working progress and any change/ improvement you do just enhances the beauty of your home. It will look amazing in the future. ❤
Thanks Sheila! Sorry for the slow reply, it’s been such a busy week! Great to hear from you, thanks for watching friend. ❤️❤️👍
Thanks friend! We will get there and slowly learn the language, fingers crossed! Great to hear from you, thanks for watching friend. ❤️❤️❤️
Such a WONDERFUL SUN.
I cannot get enough watching your creative projects again and again. 😍👏💪
Thank you so much!

Thanks so much Irene, always lovely to hear from you x
I forgot to say how lovely your bedroom looks. The bed and lamps are fabulous! Well done to both of you.
Have heard of so many bamboo nightmare stories lately, Could it take over the World? Power to your elbow in getting rid of it.love joining you every week ,thankyou for letting us into your lives x
Thanks Linda! Patience and perseverance are the name of the game apparently 😊
Thanks Julie! WOW! It’s been super hot, but we think we are through the hottest bit for now. Great to hear from you friend, its been quite a week! Thanks so much for watching and taking this journey with us, your support is so very much appreciated! 👍🙏🇵🇹🏡

Thanks Ruth! Big love to Australia and hugs to you. Great to hear from you, thanks for watching friend. ❤️❤️
Who would ever guess that the gnarly bamboo would make such beautiful flooring. When I remodeled my kitchen/dining area, I used bamboo. It was gorgeous. 🎋 You all work so hard, I hope you're getting rest, too. Thank you for another great episode!
Ahh that sounds lovely Lisa, thanks for the ideas!
Thanks Julie, appreciate the advice and love having you here with us 🙏🏼
I was also thinking that the now bare slope would wash away without anything holding it.
You three are a real force!
Lovely people with with a strong willpower and a tone of optimism.
Real inspiration!
I cannot wait to see your flowers and fruits terraces 🥰
Thank you friend. Thats such a beautiful comment. Great to hear from you, thanks so much for watching. ❤️❤️

BBE..
Thanks Bobby! What a lovely comment to read. Thank you friend. we are having so much fun here on the farm. Great to have you joining us. 🙏🇵🇹🏡
We are with you in the heat - threatened to be 41 today. The air is hot too, so everything needs to be closed. Our lovely thick walls are keeping us coolish. I tried the walk round the block earlier this morning - phew! Love to you all.
Thanks Penny! We will see you very soon. Spring st. looking fab with all the hollyhocks!
@@TheNewbys see you soon! Safe travels. xxx
Grrrrr.....
Ahh sorry friend, that sounds like a real headache and we feel your pain! Slow and steady wins the race…we hope. 🙏🏼
Hurrah for the tractor. It is giving you a good Headstart on the bamboo jungle. Crusoe is such a darling little boy, and it’s always so much fun to see him running around the property. You three are truly blessed.
Thank you Mona, we really appreciate that 🙏🏼

Hello friends, let me give you a tip for the pile of bambo roots, you let it dry up after summer time is over, when temperatures go low and winter arrives, and then set a good fire with it. Nothing is going to happend then and you will be able to get read of that stuff! By the way today was the firts time that i don't see a smile in Crusou's face, he looks pretty concern 😂 with that machine going in his property! Have fun and be safe from this hit weather and firers around! 😘😘😘😘
Thanks Fatima, great advice!
@@TheNewbys 😘😘😘😘😘
Great video. I’m not sure about pine cones but since burning pine can cause a buildup in your chimney, which can cause a chimney fire, I would imagine that pine cones would, too. Glad y’all are doing good.
Thanks Dawn, great to know. 👍👍Great to hear from you, thanks for watching friend. ❤️🙏👍
Using pine cones to start your fires is fine. It will take years of burning pine cones for any buildup to be a problem unless your chimney is extremely narrow. Just clean out your chimney every few years- which is a good practice regardless of what you’re burning.
You Guys have the best place to raise kids, you guys doing a fantastic job on that beautiful Land.
Thank you friend. Always great to see your name pop up! Great to hear from you, thanks for watching. ❤️❤️

Here in New Jersey, US it is illegal to import or plant it
I said the samething awhile back its also illegal on Long Island
@@antoniodasilva1230 I said something previously as well. No way they were hand digging it out. Sucks though. So invasive

Thanks friend, we realise that but it’s all we have access to - even Google translate is Brazilian. We will do our best and see how we get on!
Your bed is devine, stay cool Tara, and it’s time to look after yourself now. Crusoe is just adorable. He sure loved the plumbs ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😂😂😂😂😂👶👶👶👶

Just adding a concern, when we were in Madeira we learnt that they plant bamboo on the hillside because the root structure helps with the landslides, they harvest it to keep it under control. Just thought you should know x
Thanks Polly, we will keep an eye on things.

WOW. Cannot believe the size of the root masses of the bamboo! Everyone below is spot on: DON'T MULCH IT!! Burning is best when allowed. Try to put it somewhere in the meantime so it will really dry out and die first. It is amazing stuff, for sure. Bamboo is basically giant grass. I'm really glad you kept some of it for later use. There's so much you can do with it, even maybe use it for pipes where you don't want to see pvc pipes out of the ground.
