Great jewelry box makeovers! You've inspired me to try that with jewelry boxes as well, or with similar small objects. I wonder how hard it would be to replace the velvet if one wanted to. Oh, and I watched this vid while sitting in a noisy coffee bar, so I'm not sure if you mentioned whether you used oil-based paint or latex. If oil-based, no polyurethane would be necessary afterward, I believe. As for determining price, I would add up cost of goods, cost of materials, and time spent, and then go for at least 3x that total. Anyway, that was fun - thanks!
Thank you so much and I'm thrilled to hear this has inspired you to get creative. Oh, if you can figure out an easy way to replace the velvet then you'd have so many more color options to choose from. I didn't mentioned the paint type as I don't know off-hand, I'll have to pull the paint pots and check. I had no idea if you used the right paint you don't have to poly. I appreciate your sharing your knowledge. 😍
Hi Heather, Your "Trash to Treasures" looks lovely! QualIty! Thank you for the detail "How To". When you mentioned Elysia English's RUclips Channel, I immediately connected: I have been watching her RUclips Channel for YEARS and don't miss any of her videos. Your "blooper" at the end was so cute.
Oh thank you! 🥰 I'm glad you enjoy the video. I can't believe you've been watching Elysia English for years, too. Do you watch XO, MaCenna? She another of my favorites: ruclips.net/channel/UCXkbaLJq7IxOfR2ITAinsOQ
Hi Heather, I’m actually flipping an old jewellery box for my bestfriend to gift her on her birthday and I have the one similar to the green one and thank you so much for uploading this video, it gave me an idea where to start with it. I had a question for you, what was the spray paint that you used for the hinges? The gold one? Thanks a bunch :)
What a fun DIY gift for your bestie! I'm sure she is going to love it. The gold spray paint I used for the hinges is the Krylon Metallic Gold Leaf. You can see it at 4:25 in the video, in case you are ilke me and seeing the packaging helps you find it at the store.
I had originally hoped I could paint around them, but I DID end up unscrewing the hinges to properly paint them box. I also ended up spray paining the hinges, which I would not have been able to do well without removing them. You can see at 9:51 the hinges in the background and the holes they left. They were actually easy to remove and replace using the screwdriver from an eyeglasses kit. Happy DIY-ing!
It's a Valspar sample pot in a Satin Base. The color is Blindfold #4007-2C. Since it's house paint you may want to top with a clear coat. I skipped this step and mine is holding up well but it doesn't get moved around much. Thanks a bunch for watching. 🥰

How did you deal with that side hinge on the lid? I have an old jewelry box I'm trying to restore, but not sure how to take those off and put back on?

Hello☺️
What kind of paint you used for the red fabric inside???
It's a Valspar sample pot in a Satin Base. The color is Blindfold #4007-2C. Since it's house paint you may want to top with a clear coat. I skipped this step and mine is holding up well but it doesn't get moved around much. Thanks a bunch for watching. 🥰
60 dollars is what I would sell it for
Thanks for sharing. I might have to pick up some more on my next thrifting adventure. 😉
