You have picked Zurich which is more expensive for groceries than other towns in the country. People earn more in Zurich, that’s why everything is dearer there. I live in the east part of Switzerland, and things are not as dear as in Zurich. A shop called Otto’s is good for finding items that are priced more cheaply than in Coop or Migros supermarkets. Don’t judge the whole country’s prices by what you pay in Zurich.
Just for reference - I live in Bulgaria and my girlfriend and I are currently saving up to move to Switzerland. I live in a relatively small city, but my salary's high - average salary in Bulgaria (generally) is about 1000BGN, which is around 600USD / 509EUR (A MONTH, NOT A WEEK), and I make around 1.4 to 1.6K - again, A MONTH, into Bulgarian levs. 1.5L of coca-cola (coke) is 1.99BGN. Our yogurts (Activia) are 280G but are 1.6BGN. My monthly rent is around 500BGN with expenses. You can barely get a LIDL sushi for 12-15BGN, as far as I can see the pricing here is around 7 francs. 1KG of raw chicken that you can cook at home is around 8BGN, in Switzerland 1.6KG is 12 francs. A kilogram of cheese (the cheapest) in Bulgaria is around 8-12BGN, same pricing goes to Switzerland too. If you go out on an average restaurant here, let's say a date, you're not leaving with a bill less than 80BGN. The Nivea products you've seen in this video, in Bulgaria are nearly as twice as expensive. All in all, the point being, that making 1.5K in BGN passed into a low-level and low-income job in Switzerland, let's ballpark it at 3K francs, if you're living with someone, or by yourself living a sort of a minimalist lifestyle, or rather just taking care of your financials, you should be more than financially stable. Furthermore, a large Macdonald's meal in Bulgaria is around 12-15 bucks, and it's slightly cheaper in Switzerland. Again, the point being - Switzerland is not that expensive it seems.
