Hey, guys. I am a Brazilian English teacher! Congrats on the video. I am def going to use this video in class with students. Great job on showing how to be polite. Students usually have a hard time to get to grips with the modals. Loved it!
Danilo Ribeiro hi how are u? could I make friendship to you bcs I am very eager to talk in english but I could not found no one. My facebook id is 01920140827
sorry to be so off topic but does someone know a way to get back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly lost my password. I love any help you can offer me!
Well, the waitress already explained they don't sell animal products, so why would they have camel's milk? The guy should know that if he's a regular as he claimed!
Thank you for the video. I started lear english any days ago. Your video very supported for me, but it was very difficult) I used dictionary all times for transleiting all words it the video. I spent 2 hours for it
Hi. I teach English in Vietnam. My school concentrates on speaking and listening and for higher level learners we have introduced 4 specific topics: Food and Beverage, Travel, Shopping, and Entertainment/Free Time Activities. Part of the course is for students to do their own study. We are sourcing various videos and audio links which students need to watch or listen to, and then they need to answer questions about it. After seeing your video, I was wondering if it would be possible to use various snippets from it for this self-study segment? Many thanks, Mr D
When we will order food / drinks in restaurants we must use modals for the beginning of the sentence like can, could, should, would, may and don't forget to add the magic word (please) in the end of the sentence.
fabiola zarate hi don't mind, although I don't know you but I am writing if you talk any foreigner by over phone it will be more helpful to you to develop your hearing skill I told you but that's means is not that louder is not helpful
A restaurant that doesn't serve meat or animal by products (milk, eggs, cheese etc.) is called a vegan restaurant. A vegetarian restaurant is one that will sell animal by products but no meat. I'm a pescatarian, meaning I am like a vegetarian, but I do eat fish.
Moreover, he doesn't look like a white American of European descent rather somewhere from the Middle Ease. If you want to criticize, , review it in the first place, Moron.
Well, he's a teacher and the boys are his students. He's taking them out for lunch in the USA and helping them with their English skills for ordering food politely. He's being a teacher, not paternalistic. As for arrogant, well, that's a matter of point of view.
You do hear it sometimes in the UK, particularly with younger people, as we have a lot of American movies and dramas over here and they use the phrase a lot in those. It's not something I'd recommend to a non-English speaker to say in the UK though, just in case. Obviously it depends where you are - you would certainly never ever say it in a nice restaurant, but if served by a student in a busy McDonalds, then it's a bit different. The reason that it's rude is quite subtle, but basically it assumes that you're going to get the item already, rather than asking politely if you can or may have it. The most polite expression to use in the UK is "may I have a glass of wine please?" (for example), although probably the most common expression is "can I have a glass of wine please?". Note also that if you say "can I get.." at someone's house, then it sounds like you want to go and get the drink yourself - in fact with many people they'd point you to the fridge so you can 'get' it yourself, which might be a bit awkward!
I'm here bcs i literally can not have any social interaction and going into a social environment like a restaurant is my biggest fear ever. I can't even go into a restaurant in my own country
? He emphasized in the beginning that they should always try to say "could I...?" Saying "can i get" repeatedly could also be interpreted as "rude" in States - especially in more upscale restaurants.
I work at the restaurant here in US, as you know working at the restaurant here in US sallary it is not as much as working office job , we are working for tips !! we have so many custumer here from diferent nation !! but the most arogan customer are from, china ,India ,and africa, they even never tip waiter or waitress !!! even they tip are very low !! not even a dollar !! but I hate when indian people ordering they always come to restaurant very late minutes before we close and lock the door!! they ask too many question from water no ice till vegetarian dishes while shaking their head and I can,t handle their body odor so disgusting !! for indian people please teach your people before entering US !! you guys should know do and don,t in public area such restaurant park !!! and chinese people don,t wave your hand and talk so loud to waiter before they ready for you !! it is not nice thing to do!!

The American guy sounds so arrogant and paternalistic.
I know! It's driving me crazy!
haaaaaaa haaaaaaaa oh my god
You missed the point. In the skit, he actually acted like a father. It was a conversation between a dad and his two sons if I am not mistaken.
Moreover, he doesn't look like a white American of European descent rather somewhere from the Middle Ease. If you want to criticize, , review it in the first place, Moron.

I like it!!
Thank you very much sir you make me feel good ❤
How far id America? can ypu ans me please
"Can I get..." is very rude in most English speaking countries. The correct English is "may I have..." or "can I have".
Interesting....It's totally fine in America...as long as you add please of course!
You do hear it sometimes in the UK, particularly with younger people, as we have a lot of American movies and dramas over here and they use the phrase a lot in those. It's not something I'd recommend to a non-English speaker to say in the UK though, just in case. haha! "get" it yourself!! That makes sense, never thought about it till now! Thanks!
Here in the UK people sometimes say can I get something but of course comes with please.

Interesting how even UK and US English differs, in the UK it is very rude to say 'can I get...' to waiter/barman
?
He emphasized in the beginning that they should always try to say "could I...?"
Saying "can i get" repeatedly could also be interpreted as "rude" in States - especially in more upscale restaurants.
